THE CASA DE ROSA HAS BEEN DEMOLISHED AND A NEW HOUSE HAS REPLACED IT.
We do not rent to multiple parties at the same time.
I came to El Sargento for the first time in 2002. I came for a week to visit a friend. I didn't really want to come. But by the end of that first week I had bought a home on the beach here! I had never done anything like that before in my life. But the beauty of this place overwhelmed me!! And I have never regretted anything about my purchase, and wish I could live here all winter. But I can't, so that's where you can win out.
When you look out at the Sea of Cortez, you see dark and light and crystal clear blue waters...you see the pinks and purples and blues of Ceralvo, a beautiful island not far away...you see a curving coast with beautiful white sand beaches and the lighthouse at the end. It's truly spectacular!! I've been coming here for 14 years, and still can't stop constantly saying how beautiful it is.
There are all kinds of water sports, for windy times, for calm times, for winter, for summer. There are terrific restaurants, and I can fill you in on my favorites. It's a great place to kick back and relax too. You can sit on one of the 2 patios and watch the kiters fly by, jumping in the air and back down again. The kites look like birds. The beaches are gorgeous and there are usually almost NO people on them. I just sit there and can't believe this place! Rent kayaks, or stand up paddle boards, or bikes, or take kiting or windsurfing lessons. Just come and have a great vacation!!!

About Roxie
I'm from Colorado, but love the water and love Mexico. I've been coming to Mexico since I was a kid. I have finally gotten my own place on the water. Yes! I personally don't know how to kite or windsurf, but love the scuba diving, snorkeling, SUP'ing, biking, hiking and kayaking I can do here.
Roxie purchased this House in 2002
Why Roxie chose El Sargento
I bought a vacation home in El Sargento because I fell in love with it. It's a small fishing village, more remote than not, it has a gringo presence, but not too much of one (people actually speak Spanish here), they've got the best chili rellenos around and the water is GORGEOUS!!!
What makes this House unique
One of the things I like best about my home here is that it's right on the water and right next to an arroyo. That way I can just hop on down to the beach whenever I want. Also good access for putting in your kite, SUP, kayak or whatever your sport of choice is. I'm in town, if there is any such thing as town, and can walk to my favorite restaurants or small stores. Also, being in town, I have gringo and Mexican neighbors, which I love. It's like really being in Mexico, more than going to an all inclusive somewhere and not even knowing you've been in another country.

Home away from home
We stayed for two weeks and loved the house- the location, the set up, and the quick access to the beach. We spent great days exploring the bay and beyond - Baja is a jewel of a place! We paddled - kayaked from the access point by the house to the hot springs and took our snorkeling gear and enjoyed long hours of beach water and underwater - even in the "cold" winter days of January! The house is well equipped and we made many great meals at home. We loved the fish store a couple of blocks away - Perla- fresh inexpensive immaculately clean and stocked with delicious fish - yum!!! Slow pace, high winds, amazing sunlight - there are definitely no bad days in Baja!
Thanks so much. I think you love it as much as I do!
Cute house and easy beach access
My boyfriend and I stayed in the casa for 5 days. He was able to launch his kite right from the beach outside. I was able to get some sun (shielded from the wind) on the deck. There are restaurants within walking distance. The house was very cute and had everything we needed. The owner is very responsive and gave some great recommendations.
Family & kiting
Right on the beach, close to groceries, within walking distance to some restaurants, within cycling distance to the rest.
Launching and landing of a kite was easy and with booties, the water access was reasonable. Very low traffic on the water.
The house is basic, as most seemed in the area, but had everything we needed... Even an orange juicer.
La "casita" was perfect for our needs!
We stayed close to 50 days in la casita in December 2012 and January 2013. The location is perfect: we could see the sun rise over the horizon in the morning and we took walks on the sandy beach. The accommodations were clean with lively colors. It was a quiet heaven after daytime hours filled with numerous activities. What I liked best: the location, lots of outside space for safe parking, deck on top of garage for a wonderful view, patio at the back facing the sea, the desert garden or "lawn", easy access to the sandy beach, comfortable bed, internet (a bit slow at times but apparently it is a regional problem with the infrastructure), great bathroom with hot and cold water, great little fridge to keep your perishables, access to the garage to wash your clothes, great neighbors, a very likeable local representative and great service from the owner (Roxie). I hope to be back again, to enjoy this wonderful place.
Authentic, Beautiful and a Value
I stayed at the house with a friend strictly for kitesurfing. Roxie, the owner was very nice and helpful. The house is nice, modest but a very good value for the $. The larger bedroom was great which I took for the week the smaller one has two double beds which are kinda small, at least that's what my friend said. The house is right on the water but it wasn't ideal for rigging and launching kites since all the fishermen and their boats/trucks were pretty active. There are rocks with sea urchins at low tide so you do need to be careful. We kited at Baja Joes, the hotsprings and also from just a couple hundred yards north from the house. We much preferred being in the middle of the village as opposed to with all the other gringos down in town or in their retreats. Would definitely stay again!!! The location is superb and the wind is glorious!!
Wonderful beachfront casita
We stayed for 10 days in the casita, and if you are looking for a place in La Ventana/El Sargente that is affordable, comfortable and well-located -- this is it! The casita is a completely separate building from the main house -- plenty of privacy. The kitchenette is very basic, but served us well for breakfast, lunch and even the occasional dinner. We enjoyed sitting out on the bluff above the ocean watching the kite-boarders go by -- the yard allows you to get out of the sun and out of the wind -- both of which are frequently desirable! Very clean -- highly recommended for those on a budget who still want nice, clean accommodations.
Location
If you want a change, you can go into the 'big city', La Paz, for theatre, museums and the like The fishermen come in in the afternoons right by the house w/ fresh fish. You can buy them cleaned and everything right out of the water.
