Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

We have built a BRAND NEW comfortable secluded 1300 sq.ft. home in the volcano fern forest. We love spending time here for the quiet atmosphere, fireside experience and relaxed peaceful getaway feeling. We want to share it with you in hopes that you will find this too. This is the 'Big Island' and if you are visiting Kona, it's a long drive to circle the island in one day, so making a couple nights stay in the Volcano area at our place will be the ideal way to do it. Ask about our Kona rental as well.

There is so much to see and do at the Volcano National Park, not to mention visiting Hilo and the beaches there. Or just 'STAY OHIA' like we do to relax and enjoy the fern forest and quiet. Our place is full of the best that we always wanted in a get away cabin, such as pine walls, black granite counter tops, slate and tigerwood floors, stainless steel appliances and the latest in media entertainment, all the way from the old fashion record player to a large flat screen high definition tv, Ipod docking and the ability to see your computer on the tv for slide shows of your most recent trips.

FREE WIFI too!!

We are long time residents of Kona and are used to helping tourists have the best time while they're here so feel free to email us. All the best with your travels, Mike and Liz

About Liz Wright

My husband Mike works for a catamaran company in Kona. I have a professional cleaning business as a self employed owner for more than 20 years. I have lived in Kona for 40 years, originally from Vancouver, Canada, and Mike has been here for 26 years, originally from Oahu. We own our home in Kona and enjoy the volcano area when we can. If you are going to Kona, ask about our rental, 'STAY KONA' Mike Cabral and Elizabeth Wright

Why Liz Wright chose Ohia Estates

We love this area because it's so opposite from Kona. It's cool and country with beautiful fern forests all around. It's only 1 mile from the volcano village and 2 miles from the Volcano National Park entrance. Heading out to explore for the morning and returning for lunch is so easy. If you are going to Kona, ask about our rental, 'STAY KONA'

What makes this cabin unique

I've always loved a 'real wood burning' fireplace and that is what we have at our spacious cottage style home. It's a warm comfortable atmosphere that allows us to enjoy the things we don't in the faster pace of Kona, like playing music, board games or just relaxing with good conversation. I do a bit of running and the neighborhoods are generally flat and free of roaming dogs.

This place had character and with the fire lit in the fireplace felt really cozy

  • 4 of 5

My friend and I spent two nights at the lodge and loved it. We got a fire going the second evening and that heated up the place very nicely. We danced the hula to Aunty Edith’s vinyl LP with Hawaiian music and thought it was a hoot.

There were delicious muffins in the freezer, which hit the spot on the morning of our departure,.

The only thing that did not work was the heater in one of the bedrooms, so we used the heater that did work interchangeably in both bedrooms. There were enough blankets to keep us warm. One morning we sat out on the porch and listened to all the beautiful birds awakening. It was magical.

This lodge was about 15 minutes by car from the Jagger Museum where we went early in the morning in order to see the sun rise over the caldera of Kilauea Crater. So the location is great and you are very close to the Visitor Center and other attractions in the park.

This is a lovely home surrounded by native forests and very close to the Volcano National Park.

  • 5 of 5

This location allows you to view the volcano at nights which is special. Liz and Mike are very quick to respond to questions and minor problem of beeping fire alarms. You are surrounded by bird sounds and occasional barking dogs and chain saws during the day but there is so much to explore in the Park that this should not be an issue. This home has everything needed to make a special vacation great!

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cabin! Very luxurious and clean - definitely 5 stars!

We stayed here 2 nights October 15 thru October 17. Very quiet and private. Lots of activities to do in the area and some good places to eat as well.

We would definitely come back to this cabin.

Thank you very much for making it such a great stay!

Beautiful and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we drove up to the home we knew we would love it. Modern with the genuine Hawaiian feel. Information was placed through the home strategically to help us operate various items making it stress free and enjoyable. The lanai in the back was so amazing with a beautiful view of true Volcano. We slept so well in the plush bed we didn't want to leave. This was truly as stated in the outlined Homeaway description. Thank you for making us feel we were at home and providing comforts we could never find in a hotel setting.
