Kauai Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

'Cottage in the Forest'

This beautiful little cottage is tucked into a small forest, with a view of the Hanalei Mountains. Where you will awaken each morning to the symphony of sounds and sights of a peaceful rural mountain setting.

Our three and a half Acre Property is located at the end of a cul-de-sac.

Enjoy the endlessly fascinating interaction and play of the resident birds and animals. Chickens, Ducks, Peacocks, Goats, Dogs, Cats and Horses, all co-exist on our property and provide hours of entertainment.

All this is only a five minute drive to beautiful Kalihiwai Bay, where Kalihiwai River enters the ocean. It is our favorite beach, great for boogie boarding and surfing. Also a five minute drive takes you to Anini Beach, a very long beach with a double reef, where you can spend your days: Wind Surfing, Kayaking, Sailing or just enjoying the Ocean environment. Anini also has a large Beach Park.

You will be only 15 minutes from the world famous Hanalei Bay and the Princeville Resort, where you will find the 27 hole Makai Golf Course, the world class Prince Golf Course, and the Princeville Shopping Center. There are two Horse Riding Stables very near by, and the North Shore boasts many hiking trails.

The accommodations are light, airy and beautifully furnished. The claw foot tub in the bathroom is especially charming and looks out a corner picture window on to a private garden.

We love it here and love sharing the unique charm and quiet country atmosphere. Best of all, we are only minutes from some of the best beaches in the world.

This cottage was the highlight of our trip! Susan is very friendly and accommodating, the grounds are stunning, the cottage is perfectly built, tastefully decorated, and contains everything you'd need! I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Kauai. We hope to return.

Perfect hideaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cottage the second half of our trip and it was a great getaway! We loved being tucked away from all the business and felt completely safe and able to relax. Susan was a great host and helpful with anything we needed. No joke the roosters are CRAZY. Thankfully Susan did provide earplugs for the night. Otherwise we had a relaxing stay watching the peacocks and birds and feeding Milky the goat. We would highly recommend this location for your stay on the North side of Kauai.

Wonderful first stop on our honeymoon

  • 5 of 5

We chose this property as the first stop on our honeymoon, because it looked like it would be a wonderful place to relax, and we were right! We arrived at Lihue airport at about 9pm, but it was easy to drive to and find the cottage at night. We enjoyed reading on the lanai and cooking breakfast and dinner at the cottage. It was fun to visit with Milk, the goat, and to watch the beautiful chickens and peacocks.

North Kauai turned out to be one of the prettiest stops on our trip. We loved hiking part of the Kalalau trail, relaxing on Ke'e beach, kayaking the Hanalei river and bay, and hanging out on Moloa'a bay.

Susan was a wonderful host. Attentive, responsive, and accommodating.

Wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I absolutely loved staying here for our honeymoon! The accommodations are stunning and very comfortable. The view of the garden from the claw-foot tub is relaxing. We also really loved feeding our fruit and veggie scraps to Milk the goat and Petunia the pig, watching the peacocks in our backyard with their chicks, and looking up at the infinite stars at night. The location at the end of a quiet road outside of Kiluaea could not have been better. We could easily go into Hanalei or Princeville for dinner, or zip to the other side of the island to explore Waimea Canyon or a helicopter tour out of Lihue. Cannot recommend this place enough!

We loved this cottage

  • 5 of 5

All of the five star reviews below pretty much cover the amazingness of this accommodation. We'd rather stay at this gem than any grand hotel on the island. This is our first VRBO experience and it has set the bar very, very high for any others that will follow. When we come back to Kauai, this is where we will land again. The goat and the peacock were just beautiful icing on this perfect cake.

Paradise in a nutshell!

  • 5 of 5

This was fate that brought me here. I booked my Kauai trip last. I use and was scrambling to find a charming hotel or bnb for reasonable price on the north shore. Good luck. It's all quite expensive and the availabilites were limited. I booked something through air bnb and wasn't thrilled but i accepted it. Well, I thought to look one last time on vrbo and low and behold I found this cottage. The only available dates in June were the exact ones I needed. It was a match. When my friend and I arrived I was blown away with the property the adorableness and attention to detail. The bathtub is amazing, the kitchen fully equipped, and the view picturesque. The sounds of roosters and peacocks and goats were quite soothing to us, as we are from LA and don't get to hear nature too often. It might be loud for some people, but we got up early anyways to explore. Susan was gem from the start. She answered my late night phone call when booking and reserved the place for me with. Or deposit juts trusting that I would send my check. And when we arrived she came a greeted us and made us feel welcome. She didn't bother or pry at all after that and we felt super secluded. The drive to the property is three miles from the main road and is beautiful. the views of the mountains, plant life, and stars is worth the 5 min drive. I will stay here again and again. And btw, the Mosquitos are fine if you leave the doors closed and observe regular tropical weather precaution. What you would expect in a wet jungle climate. So don't let those reviews deter you. This was one of the best trips of my life and Susan and the cottage were a part of that!!
