I've always regarded France as home so it felt natural for me to find a house here. I fell in love with the chateau when I first saw it. It evoked childhood memories of rambling family houses and lazy childhood summers. Perhaps because much of my life has been spent in different places, I always regarded France as the nearest thing to home. All my childhood holidays were spent with my family in France and my brother and sister both have houses there (my brother lives next door) so it was natural for me to find a home in France. Magnificent views of the Pyrenees coupled with the warmth of the local population make this an idyllic place to relax.
Castelnau has the gift of making all those who visit feel comfortable and relaxed. Its splendid location is impressive. The front of the house is positioned in the heart of the hamlet, the rear looks out onto private meadows, forest and mountains. It offers tranquility and seclusion for a memorable holiday, a retreat or a special family event. The interior of the house is original and fun to explore.
Thank you so much for allowing us to experience the serenity of your home. We have savored every moment. This is a special time for us and the peace we felt while here was a balm.
This truly is an undiscovered gem. Le Chateau is a tranquil and magical place surrounded by the most stunning countryside. I attended a yoga retreat here and spent a week enjoying the magnificent house, grounds and pool. The grounds are vast, so plenty of space to explore and staying in the house really takes you back to a bygone era. While huge and rambling, there is a definite 'homely' feel, and it has been so lovingly looked after. I'm hoping to be able to return to Le Chateau with my family, so I can share the wonderful experience.
Typical French markets operate on most days of the week in nearby towns, French bakery, butcher and delicatessen in nearby town, local 'vide greniers' (French 'garage sales', great for bargain hunting) take place locally, a number of historic, Cathar, French towns are located a short drive from the Chateau.
