Well maintained property.. Perfect for 4 people but can have up to 6. Owner very kind and responsive. Cheap ski rentals right across the street in the deli. Bring your Apple TV or chromecast.
My husband, 7-year-old, and I stayed at this cabin for 3 nights in February. We found the location extremely convenient for skiing at Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge, which are just 5-10 minutes away, and we appreciated cutting some travel time off our drive from and back to the Bay Area vs. staying at Lake Tahoe. Having the store directly across the street was great for picking up milk, our morning coffee, etc. They also offer downhill ski rentals for anyone interested in that.
The cottage itself is clean, comfortable, and well stocked (e.g., shampoo, soap, games, books galore, pots/pans, plastic wrap, etc.). It's located directly on the main road, so there is some road noise, especially in the front bedroom, so very light sleepers might want to choose the middle or back bedroom. Wifi worked great for us, the shower was good, beds comfortable, plenty of space... In short, we had a great stay.
If you're looking for a newer home with a view or picturesque setting, this may not be the place for you. But if you're looking for comfortable surroundings and convenient location at a good price, then this place should fit the bill. We would come back again.
This property is perfectly located if your desire is to ski Sugar Bowl. We had two families with a little dog and there was plenty of space for us all to cook, relax and sleep. The wood stove was easy to use and kept the entire place warm. There are three nice sized bedrooms that were bright and comfortable. If you needed any extra supplies there was a small convenience store across the street which also doubles as a ski rental place (bargain). The place was very clean and comfortable. The only negative I could see is the lack of cable for the TV. The TV is a nice flat screen and you can stream via the internet as well as play DVD's. We used our Direct TV app on the Ipad and brought an HDMI cable to plug into the TV and that was our solution. (The reason for 4 out of 5 stars) Jim the owner was very responsive before our arrival, we had a few questions, and he was great. We loved this cabin and will most definitely stay there again.
This cabin was perfectly located right off I-80 and a few minutes from Royal Gorge. For a snowy weekend, we couldn't have picked a better spot. The cabin is larger than the photos and accommodated our group well. It was easy to check in and out. We didn't need to contact the host for anything during our stay, but he was very responsive before and after. We will be returning!
We had 3 small families stay in this cozy home, including 6 adults, 4 toddlers. The location was excellent, right across the street from a well-stocked market and short drives to all kinds of snowy adventure (Soda Springs kids planet, Sugar Bowl, and unlimited cross country skiing/snow showing).
The home included everything we needed! The fireplace puts out a ton of heat. The kitchen is fully stocked, there are tons of games, the wifi works great, and the shower has awesome water pressure which was surprising in the mountains.
The owner Jim is not only an excellent host, but also quite an artist. Some of his pieces appear around the home, of fly fishermen, climbers etc.
The back yard has plenty of space for romping for kids and doggies. We built a sledding hill back there and spent hours just enjoying the nature right outside the back door.
We enjoyed this place tremendously and will be back!
The house is really great. The caretaker lives downstairs and the living area is up the stairs. Good parking right in front of house with room for 3 cars. Wifi is fast but did go out one day while we were there and the device is in the caretakers residence so we were unable to reset it until the caretaker returned from work late that evening. Overall a good place to stay with easy access to sugar bowl.
