Spectacular mountain views from this spacious open plan layout of 8,000 sq. ft. Vermont Log Cabin nestled in this small town of Brownsville, VT, secluded with forest on three sides of the property. At night whether in the cabin, outside on the patio or relaxing in the 8 man Jacuzzi, a full sky of constellations, stars, satellites, and an occasional falling star to wish upon is waiting for you. If you are not the outdoor type, you can find plenty to do inside the cabin. The lower level has a media center with lots of room or play pool on the 8 ft. slate pool table. The first floor offers a kitchen that any chef could be entertained. Or sit in the Great Room where a stone fireplace awaits a fire to add ambiance to the room. There is a 51 in. satellite TV, DVD, and a WII. If walking is your choice, there is a trail on the property but you also might want to walk along the road into the small village of Brownsville. This was one of our more interesting cabin rentals. We had 13 friends, half couples, half not. The couples all had great rooms on the main and top floor. The bottom floor bedrooms are not as warm and inviting, but it worked out. I could see these rooms working great for kids or young single adults.
The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our breakfasts and dinners and the view is amazing. Keep in mind the nearby mountain resort (Ascutney) is not up and running so if you are planning on going to a ski resort, plan on a 30+ minute drive depending on weather. Also, we highly recommend 4 wheel drive. One person in the group got stuck and was unable to make it up the driveway (their own fault) and we had to help them get their car down to town to stay in a municipal lot over the weekend.
There is so much firewood which was incredibly nice and made it so we have cozy fires every night. Please note there is no internet and everyone in our group who did not have AT&T had no service so if you need internet for anything, check into local places that have wifi. The general store does.
Sherry was helpful when we had an issue with bees inside the house and assured us she would be taking care of the issue. Sherry was extremely nice when I would talk with her on the phone, but is not very communicative over e-mail. So my advice would be to call her if you have any questions about the cabin and she'll be able to help!
How nice of the owners of this property to share their beautiful home with everyone. The house is beautiful. It is a large, authentic log cabin everyone wishes they had. Thank you for a great week without any complications, issues or complaints. Can't wait to book again.
This cabin is stunning. You're overwhelmed by the charm of this cabin as you walk in the front door by all the beautiful wood, the decorations - the details. Everyone in our group of 16 was impressed - everyone was comfortable and very spacious. The driveway was steep and windy - do not use any vehicle without 4 wheel/all wheel drive in the winter, but the view at the top from the cabin was just beautiful. It has all the amenities you'd need, and the hot tub and big fireplace were cherries on top. My sister and I want to come back with our family and make this an annual trip for the future. 100% recommend. Thank you, Sherry! - Kristin Abreau
Family gathering as we attended a nearby wedding. Nice deck: Beautiful view during day and awesome stars at night. Kitchen/dining open concept worked great for us. We did not cook much, but kitchen seems very complete. Bedrooms were large enough, and mattresses comfortable. No closets in some bedrooms, but closet in front foyer was enough for our wedding clothes. We would stay here again.
The "cabin" is so much more than just a cabin. My family and I (17) congregated here to celebrate my fathers birthday. From the moment we pulled up to the house we were dazzled by the sprawling accommodations and the amazing views of Mt. Ascutney. The large kitchen/dining area were perfect for preparing large family meals. We enjoyed roasting s'mores in the outdoor fire pit and relaxing in the huge hot tub.
Thank you for a wonderful family getaway!!!
We stayed at the house over the Thanksgiving holiday this year - extended family, including in-laws and children. The house was perfect - enough space for everyone to have their space but still be together. Kitchen was great for cooking such a big meal and table was great for a large group. Hot tub was really nice too! Loved being able to visit the alpaca farm down the road and Woodstock was only about 25 minutes away.
