Cape May House Rental Photos and Description

House, 7 Bedrooms, 5.5 Baths, (16)

New photos 4/2016! Our tenants love the location of this house at 715 Columbia Ave. Relax on the big wrap around porch with a refreshing sea breeze; rock your cares away in one of 20+ rockers and watch the moonlit sky; play games in the big living room or huge dining room on a rainy day; stretch out in one of the 3 restful suites with space and privacy. You can see the beach promenade 2 blk stroll straight ahead. Wide tree lined street, unobstructed views of the ocean from the second floor (it is still 2 blocks away), walk to resturants, shops and attractions 1-2 blocks. We are also a favorite of the horse/buggy tours. Be prepared to be entertained on the porch! Our tenants love the location of this house. You can see the beach promenade 2 blks straight ahead. Wide tree lined street, upobstructed views of the ocean from the second floor (it is still 2 blocks away), walk to resturants, shops and attractions 1-2 blocks. Many of our tenants walk by and say 'we could have stayed there!.' Now they are repeat tenants. Please contact us for full details. Read rates below and in 'notes.' We just renovated the first floor bath to add a large 4' shower. Also, side porch renovation opened up the porch and added a mahogany floor. Unique property. This is your chance to rent a colorful historic victorian at the shore. This house is a rare offering with beautiful furnishings, 7-8 brs and 5.5 baths (yes 5.5 baths!). It was an upscale B&B and it became a rental 10 years ago. Just completing a kitchen overhall in 2014. If you have a larger family, you can rent the main house and 4 cottages for a total of 11 bedrooms and 9.5 baths. A typical stay in the summer months is a week. For familys up to 14-16, the main house can be rented. As your group grows you can one or more cottages. We rent to families as few as 2 and as large as 32 (total of 11-12 bedrooms and 9.5 baths). Final prices are determined by the number in your family. Prices quoted here are for main house. We also rent at a discount off season, so spend your holidays and weekend with us.

The common rooms and many of the bedrooms are quite large - the dining room sits at least 18! Since the living and dining rooms can open to each other and they have 12' ceilings the space is expansive (but with a home-like comfort). 3 of the 7 bedrooms are large suites are at least 23' and have sitting areas with tv. For its age, the house has good sized bedrooms, no tiny bunk rooms here. There is more than 1 photo of some rooms so you e can see more of the space.

The location is wonderful. If you sit on one of the many porch rockers and look down the street you can see the beach front promenade. We are also in the center of the hsitoric district and walking distance to shops, resturants, activities, movies (and of course the beach), and all of Cape May's history and charm. We are a favorite of the house tours, so you will see plenty of horse drawn carriages. We are a 2 block walk from just about everything.

The house is 130 years old but has undergone a major renovation in the last three years, so there is 4 zone central air conditioning, gas fireplaces, plenty of hot water and gleaming spaces. See multiple pictures on our web site. We continue to renovate and upgrade in the off season to assure the comfort of our tenants.

There is so much to do here in Cape May that you may wish to extend your stay on your second visit. Feel free to call us for more information. We hope you will choose to share this grand old house with us and make it your yearly get away. One customer recently married here stated 'Our wedding weekend was absolutely perfect. We felt like we were home away from home.'

The house is also available for weddings, family reunions, holidays, receptions, conferences and more. With additional cottages and suites we can accommodate up to 32 people. The cottage and suites (all with kitchens, private amenities and entrances) are available to be rented separately).

Off season prices for the main house (16 people) range from $1200 to $2100 for 3 nights. Weekly 2500-2800 for 7 nights. The rate per night goes down after 3 nights. Short term cleaning fees are 150-200, weekly 250-350.

Sample of weekly rates 5/31 2500, 6/7 3000, 6/14 3900, 6/21 6100, 7/5 6500, 7/19 6900, 8/2 7300, 8/23 4200, 8/30 2900, 9/6 2650. There is an additional 350 cleaning and 550 refundable security fee. Weeks not mentioned are now reserved. Additional people and additional cottages are an extra cost. Please send a quick email. I usually reply within 10 minutes.

Perfect Vacation Property

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 12 people arrived from several areas of the US to enjoy a week together. From the moment we walked into the Ashley Rose, we felt comfortable and "at home". The house is beautifully appointed with period furniture as well as comfy couches and rockers. The huge dining room allowed us to enjoy many meals together and the kitchen was stocked with everything we could possibly want - and more! We loved the location for walking to the beach and to any restaurant or shop we wanted. (We quickly established a tradition of ice cream every night and never ran out of new places to try) The big front and side porch seemed to be constantly in use with morning coffee, afternoon "happy hour" and late evening relaxing before hitting the comfortable beds. It was so much fun watching the trolley and horse drawn buggies go by and even stop for pictures of this beautiful Victorian. We brought some beach supplies with us but had no need for them because Sally provided everything we could want. The supplied beach box made for hassle-free time at the beach and the beach tags were a nice plus. When we were packing up at the end of the week, one of my children said this now felt like our home and it didn't feel right to be leaving. We all agreed!! Thank you Sally for patiently answering all our questions during our preparation and for being such a delightful hostess.

Family Fun Time in the Beautiful 'Ashley Rose'

  • 5 of 5

My family of 11 rented the beautiful Victorian House “Ashley Rose” from May 19th- through May 22nd, 2016. The owner, Sally, was wonderful and helpful in every way always answering our questions with kindness and patience. The house has 3 floors and is spacious and beautiful. Starting with the comfortable, cozy living room to the amazing dining room that seated all 11 of us comfortably, to the kitchen that was fully stocked with everything and anything we could possibly need. We enjoyed our morning coffee sitting on the porch in our own rocking chairs and watching the trolley cars and horse & buggies going by. So many tourists stopped in front of the house to take a picture of this beautiful and colorful property. During the day, we all enjoyed walking to the beach (2 short blocks away). On the boardwalk, there are tons of restaurants to choose from, quaint little shops in the Washington Street Mall (also a short walk). We couldn’t have picked a better place to spend our family vacation, and wouldn’t hesitate to rent the Ashley Rose Again! Thank you Sally we had a wonderful time.

The Ashley Rose- Memories to Last a Lifetime

  • 5 of 5

My family and I recently escaped to Cape May for a long weekend. This was our first stay at the Ashley Rose. We have been visiting Cape May for many years and have stayed at a variety of hotels and B&Bs. I located the Ashley Rose on the Internet and fell in love the pictures of this gorgeous Victorian. I emailed the owner, Sally, and she responded almost immediately with thorough answers to each of my questions. She seemed polite and accommodating and I was so impressed that I booked with her that same day. Over the next few weeks I frequently contacted Sally with questions about the home and our stay, and she answered each email rapidly and in a helpful and cheerful manner. Upon our arrival at the Ashley Rose my twin ten year old daughters ran upstairs to claim their third floor bedrooms while the rest of us toured the beautiful home. We were very impressed with how it represented the perfect combination of Victorian era charm and modern convenience. Walking through the home, which was adorned with Victorian era furnishings and decor, instilled a sense of "going back in time" while the extremely spacious rooms offered many modern updates, from televisions to wireless internet to temperature control. The dining and sitting areas are expansive, and could easily accommodate large groups very comfortably. The charming wrap around porch is the perfect spot to sit in a comfy rocking chair and sip tea while watching the horse drawn carriages pass by. The house is a few block walk to both the beach and the mall, making the location perfect. It also accommodates those with physical disabilities well- a member of our group was able to comfortably inhabit the spacious and charming first floor suite without difficulty. During our stay we had a few questions and Sally actually made a visit directly to the home to assist us. We only had four days to spend in Cape May, and we were very upset to leave this gorgeous home. My daughters just fell in love with it, and they made me promise to bring us all back ASAP! We hope to return to the Ashley Rose as often as we can, making it our Cape May home away from home. Many thanks to Sally for her kindness and attentiveness. See you again soon Ashley Rose!

Spacious home in great location

  • 5 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed our stay in this lovely, historic home. The house was immaculate on our arrival, and we were more than comfortable in the numerous bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. We were impressed with the newly renovated kitchen equipped with everything you could possibly need and all the beautiful antique furnishings throughout the house. The location is ideal, very accessible to the beach, the shops, and the restaurants. Be sure to take advantage of the front porch rockers where you can sit, relax and take in all the charms that Cape May has to offer.

Looking for a large Cape May home perfect for a large group of all ages? This is it!

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family of 13 ranged in age from 1 to 80, and all enjoyed the Ashley Rose. Top features of this home are the proximity to everything in Cape May and the very convenient beach locker, which saved us carrying children's toys, umbrellas, and chairs the 2 short blocks to the beach on a daily basis. We parked 2 of our 6 cars in the driveway and easily found street parking for the others. Once parked, we never moved our cars except on the one occasion that the littlest ones were taken to the local zoo: all ages could walk everywhere from this centrally-located home - restaurants, grocery store, downtown, beach, etc. It is difficult to find a Cape May home in which the number of bathrooms and bedrooms make the living easy, but the Ashley Rose includes 4 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, one bedroom with a powder room, and 2 third-floor bedrooms which share a sitting area and full bath. The owner quickly and informatively answered any questions that we had in advance and was also available immediately via phone to answer any questions during our stay. We also appreciated the 10 beach tags generously provided by the owner, Sally, and they served our whole family easily. We are already planning a return trip for next summer. One other highlight for the little ones - both the horse-carriages and the trolley stop in front of this historic home, and our youngest family members loved saying a hello from the lovely front porch to the trolley and carriage tourists.
