We spent a long weekend and loved this location. We can hardly wait to come back during the summer so that we can properly enjoy the gardens.
Return to home away from home
Just like our first stay at Fernwood, this stay was idyllic. I am convinced that I need more of these small doses of your haven, Dawn and Herb. Dawn greeted us with open arms, and again the sounds of the soothing music she had left playing for us welcomed us. The fire in the wood stove was so romantic and cozy. I love staying at Fernwood!
Dawn is a great soul and very proud of this property as she should be. It is gorgeous! This rental has everything you need for a relaxing getaway and then some. We will definitely be back for more tranquility and hospitality!!!! Thank you Dawn for making this trip such a great experience.
My husband and I wanted a little get away and decided to go to Lancaster for a long weekend. I found this property on the VRBO and it was everything we could have hoped for. We only met Dawn (we were out running around seeing all the sites in Lancaster most of the trip) but she was wonderful. Everything you need is there, super clean and beautiful gardens. I highly recommend.
Don't miss this opportunity!
Gracious hosts, thoughtful unexpected touches, and a beautiful garden and view. Take advantage of the offered tour of the area! Absolutely a wonderful experience provided by two exceptional people!
This apartment is off of the beaten path and is located on a quiet wooded hillside with a view overlooking Amish farms in the valley below. The apartment doors open onto Fern Wood Gardens, a terraced display of flowers featured in regional garden tours. This is a perfect spot for married couples and young families to enjoy a peaceful vacation.
Nearby features include: Amish country, scenic drives in a pastoral corner of Lancaster County with the summer season offering views of lush farmlands dotted with produce stands selling seasonal produce and baked goods, and outlet shopping in Lancaster and Reading.
Make sure to see the world famous Longwood Gardens, the Brandywine Valley Chanticleer Gardens and Andrew Wyeth Museum. Also many antique shops, the Hershey and Wilbur chocolate factories, and local Amish and Mennonite food and handcraft shops. The city of Reading is just a twenty minute drive away.
There are numerous historic sites of interest such as Valley Forge, Gettysburg, Lititz Moravian, Hopewell Furnace, and Ephrata Cloister. For nature enthusiasts and hikers there is French Creek State Park.
For the children and adults there are amusement parks, hands on museums, and Sight and Sound theater. There is much to see and do for the whole family.
