Overview

Berks County Apartment Rental Photos and Description

2 small cozy bedrooms, 1 full bath, open kitchen and living area, brick patio

This apartment is off of the beaten path and is located on a quiet wooded hillside overlooking Amish farms. The apartment doors open onto Fern Wood Gardens, a terraced display of flowers featured in regional garden tours. This is a peaceful quiet place where vacationers may want to enjoy extended stays. We have wireless internet connection, a full kitchen, a barbecue grill, and a washer and dryer to help make your stay comfortable.

Our place is a quiet relaxing retreat for married couples or small families. We are eight miles from the famous Shady Maple Smorgasbord. On a drive through the country side you will pass old order Amish and Mennonite farms. There are numerous covered bridges, old mills, and plain church meeting houses. There are a number of historic sights in our area and an Amish Mennonite Information center just one mile from our apartment.

The garden is a restful spot where you will want to sit and enjoy a book while hearing the call of the birds, the water splashing in the pond and the croaking of the pond frogs, or the clip-clop of the Amish horses on the road below. You may want to eat your meals in the garden house, make hot dogs, etc. in the garden fire pit or just sit in the garden house during a rain shower and enjoy the fresh smell of the garden.

Amazing and Peaceful.

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay here, we came to Pennsylvania to relax and unwind. We had planned a few activities to do around the town, but once we got comfortable we didn't even want to leave. I'll stay by saying that Herb, and Dawn were very helpful and so inviting. We arrived to a fire started in the living room, while having relaxing music playing in the background. Dawn provided us with a big basket full of delicious fruits!. She had the most amazing toys for my son to play with from tonka trucks, to teddy bears, puzzles, card games, push toys.. She had everything I would need in the kitchen and the bathroom was fully stocked. My family and I loved or start and can't wait to come back. By the way the view here is Amazing the pictures do it no justice.

Fernwood - peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Fernwood was wonderful! It was just a short drive to all the things we had planned to see and do, and such a relaxing place to return to at the end of the day. Dawn was a gracious host and made us feel like family. The apartment was meticulously clean, simply but elegantly furnished, and very comfortable. We had a great time, and hope to return to see the gardens in full bloom.

Pennsylvania Dream Vacation Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay and visit at Fern Wood with Dawn and Herb was the most fantastic trip for our family! The rental is truly the most relaxing beautiful place in Pennsylvania! The rental and garden are beautiful, clean, cozy, comfortable, and so well located that we were able to see all the places we wanted to and come home to rest and relax and get ready for the next day. Dawn and Herb were amazing hosts, helpful and kind! We were greeted by Dawn who helped us plan our trips giving us great directions and ideas. Herb took us on an amazing tour of the area providing us with information about the area and stopping at local farms to taste their wares! We would love to come back to stay again. Thank you Dawn and Herb for sharing your beautiful apartment and for your incredible hospitality our trip was made perfect thanks to you!

A great place!

  • 5 of 5

Dawn and Herb were very generous hosts. The place is better in person than the photos depict. The peaceful garden and vista was a welcome respite after a very busy trip to Philadelphia. Thank you so much, Dawn, for your suggestions and hospitality!
