Overview

About the property

2 small cozy bedrooms, 1 full bath, open kitchen and living area, brick patio

This apartment is off of the beaten path and is located on a quiet wooded hillside overlooking Amish farms. The apartment doors open onto Fern Wood Gardens, a terraced display of flowers featured in regional garden tours. This is a peaceful quiet place where vacationers may want to enjoy extended stays. We have wireless internet connection, a full kitchen, a barbecue grill, and a washer and dryer to help make your stay comfortable.

Our place is a quiet relaxing retreat for married couples or small families. We are eight miles from the famous Shady Maple Smorgasbord. On a drive through the country side you will pass old order Amish and Mennonite farms. There are numerous covered bridges, old mills, and plain church meeting houses. There are a number of historic sights in our area and an Amish Mennonite Information center just one mile from our apartment.

The garden is a restful spot where you will want to sit and enjoy a book while hearing the call of the birds, the water splashing in the pond and the croaking of the pond frogs, or the clip-clop of the Amish horses on the road below. You may want to eat your meals in the garden house, make hot dogs, etc. in the garden fire pit or just sit in the garden house during a rain shower and enjoy the fresh smell of the garden.

We felt very much at home in a beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

I felt like this was our personal vacation home with everything we could want in our home. It was very well stocked with supplies. You could live here and just need to purchase food. As a gardener myself, I really enjoyed the well maintained gardens and I didn't have to weed! ( I couldn't find any weeds!)

A Small Piece of Country Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We were greeted by Dawn when we arrived to the Cozy Garden Getaway. Dawn had taken the time to share many interesting places to visit that were within an hours drive from the apartment.

The apartment is comforting, warm, and relaxing. It had everything you would need to make your stay enjoyable. You can tell that Dawn put a lot of thought into the place with all her little touches, which did not go unnoticed. The bowl with fresh fruit was a lovely, and we enjoyed it throughout our stay.

We certainly loved being able to sit out the patio while enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning, and listening to the nature which surrounded the property. Luckily we were able to take in the gardens that were in full bloom.

I would love to return again to this little piece of country paradise in the future.

Thank you so much for making our staying a wonderful experience.

It doesn't get any better than this!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place! From the garden, which really is as magical as the pictures suggest, to the fireflies at night, the songbirds in the morning, or the chance of hearing a horse and buggy clopping along on the road nearby, you'll be hard-pressed to keep yourself from shaking your head in wonder at such an affordable, family-friendly getaway.

And that's even before you set foot in the apartment! The whole place is really a labor of love for the hosts, and it shows. Everything is first-rate - the towels, the bedding, the furniture, pretty much everything you'll use in the kitchen. Just setting foot inside and seeing these things, you'll feel as though you're visiting friends or family, and the hosts will add to that feeling with small personal touches that are thoughtful, kind, and subtle. We'll no doubt stay here again whenever we're in the area; in fact, my fiancee and her son, who have never been to this part of Pennsylvania, haven't stopped saying how appealing it was, and I'm certain Fern Wood and its location had much to do with that. This certainly tops the list for vacation rentals we've had anywhere.

What a gem!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our 4 night stay in this lovely apartment. Plenty of room for the two of us, especially when you can be outside in the garden, sitting on the swing or lounging in the pergola. Dawn has provided every thoughtful amenity you can think of to make you feel at home. We enjoyed hearing the occasional clip-clop of horse drawn buggies on the road and watching the abundant fireflies at dusk. We plan to stay again soon!
