Guestbook comments from the owner

We all loved your cabin. It was just right for us. One family was upstairs and my other daughter and I were in the downstairs bedroom. We so enjoyed the Tressle and exploring the trails at the river and also the 'swimming hole' at the river by the cabin. All the cabin neighbors were very friendly. Thank You. Sincerely, B.K.

Very cozy, beautiful cabin. Great back yard.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cozy, quiet, cabin. Enough space for family of 6 and space for cot or air mattress. Dining area may be a bit tight for more than 4-5 and there is one small bathroom so taking tutns required. Very steep stairs to upstairs bedroom and only bathroom is downstairs if needed at night. Bring baby gate for the stairs if you bring little ones. Fully equipped kitchen. No laundry on site. Close to lakes/beaches. My favorite quiet parts were the back yard and front porch. Lots of dvds, board games and books to enjoy.

Was a nice getaway almost as planned !

  • 2 of 5

Well we left this place cleaner than when we arrived.

Upon entry it was obvious that the floors had not even been swept. Fresh towels were set out and the bed was made. Other than that it did not look like the cleaning staff did anything else after the previous guests left. There were some greasy French fries on the pan in the bottom drawer under the oven. The toaster was full of crumbs. The edges of the backsplash had a layer of dust and grime on them, as well as the window frames and door frames. It does not look like the cabin had a good cleaning since the place was built. The horizontal blinds were all dusty. We had to re wash all the kitchen ware before we used it for cooking. The bathroom had hairs in the tub and shower. Some of the tea towels in the drawer had a strong mildew smell. The knife block was covered in dust and grime even.

There were lots of cob webs and the light fixtures were full of dead bugs. There was garbage under the couch.

We stayed four nights, the place we stayed in Deep Bay previous to this for four nights was spotless and immaculately clean in comparison.

Other than the lack of cleanliness we had a pleasant stay and didn't mind the location. Easy check in, good communication before arrival.

We did not expect to have to clean the whole place before we unpacked, considering that part of the rental fee is for "deep cleaning" before your arrival.

Also they could easily put a different modem in the cabin that would emit a wifi signal.

Great little spot!

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was clean, quaint and just as described. While the internet was pretty much nonexistent, and could be problematic if you really needed it, we did just fine finding some non-screen things to do. It was a nice easy drive to and from Shawnigan Lake for a rowing regatta. The community spot down by the river would be really lovely on a hot summer afternoon - things were a bit wet for us! We'd book again.

Great Family Getaway Spot!

  • 5 of 5

This place was a perfect first vacation for our little ones. We have 4 kids ranging from 8 to 8 months and this was just the right fit. The Kinsol cottages are a nice place to let the kids run and play. BONUS they are 5 mins from Dirt Bike Adventures and logging roads which is why we vacationed to the island. The only thing I will say is the stairs are a bit scary if you have little ones. Next time I will bring a baby gate.

Beautiful setting. Great for hiking.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. This was a mid-winter stay and winter did arrive in Shawnigan Lake. Fortunately we had a 4-wheel drive vehicle because the road leading to and around the property is not cleared and there was a significant layer of ice and snow; very slippery. We walked out to the Kinsol Trestle a couple of times because it's so beautiful. We were visiting our daughter and new grandson in the town of Shawnigan Lake and the drive there was an easy one. We checked out the Black Swan and Cobblestones but our favorite (lunchtime) eatery was Oma's bakery in Shanigan Lake. Had a wonderful time and would definitely consider returning.
