The lake house is paradise to our family. It's where we all renew and where all inspiration comes. If you are looking for peace on earth, look no further.
Leone Simkins purchased this cottage in 1979
We bought our cottage when our youngest was two years old. We wanted our children to grow up catching frogs and loving the outdoors. All three children are now grown and their fondest memories are summers at the lake house.
We could ski in the winter and vacation in the summer. The 4th of July in Ashland is like no other with their pancake breakfast, parade and fireworks that must top every other towns display in the state. The fall is gorgeous and there are many places to visit and explore as well as mountains to climb. Our most favorite thing to do however is to get in an inner tube, paddle our way to the middle of the lake and just float around!
We had a wonderful week at this spacious and comfortable cottage. The lake water was so warm and crystal clear. Our grandson became an expert canoer! Fishing was good too. Will def. go back next summer. :)
My husband and I spent a week in this lovely lake house on beautiful Lake Winona.
The house is exactly as pictured. It was clean and comfortable.
The lake is pristine. I was amazed how clean the water was.
We were looking for peace and quiet and this home was just what we hoped for. Early morning looking out at the lake and hearing the loons was wonderful. We would occasionally see people paddling by in kayaks or canoes. Very quiet.
Jet skis are not allowed on the lake and the few motor boats that did pass us on our canoeing adventures were very respectful.
One night we were surprised to see a float plane go right past the house and land on the lake and a bit later seeing it take off!
While this home is peacefully tucked on the lake, it is an easy drive to the area highlights. You can find everything you need right in Ashland but if for some crazy reason you really needed to go to walmart, it isn't very far.
The owners provided all the information we needed and they were spot on with their restaurant recommendations.
It was a fantastic week on Lake Winona and if possible we would definitely rent this home again.
We have been coming to New Hampshire for over 10 years each time renting a different house as we have never found one worth returning to....until now. The lake house is a great set up for families...nice kitchen well equipped, big living room and lots of bedrooms. The lake is beautiful....and quiet. The boys caught lots of fish and saw some turtles. The location is great, only a few minutes from both Meredith and Centre Harbour. We will definitely be back.
Just returned from a week in "paradise". Have been up in the lakes region for almost 30 summers and NOTHING has been as wonderful as this location. The privacy and beauty of Winona is only surpassed by the beauty and comfort of this lake home. Owners were very accommodating and helpful.
The 3 levels of decking are perfect for a large family who always has more than one activity going on at once! Morning sun and moonshine in the evening....right outside your bedroom window...surely this is what heaven is like!
My family and I spent a week at this lake house. This house is spacious and had a gorgeous view of the lake. My husband and five year old son enjoyed fishing off the dock and also out on the lake in the canoe. Both my five and three year old enjoyed playing in the sand and also swimming off the private beach. This home is close to Weirs Beach, and is only a five or ten minute ride to the local grocery store. We really enjoyed our time here and hope to return each year.
Numerous things to do and sights to see in the area and for all ages. I suggest you stop at the large and new rest stop on route 93 on your way to the lake. Pick up pamphlets for the types of things you are interested in. Once you book with me I will send loads of information about restaurants and other specifics things you may want to know about.
