We went for spring break. We have 3 teenagers and it was a great getaway. Andy and his crew were very accommodating, helping us get settled and stocking the food we ordered online. Eagle Island is so unique! We went to Sapelo everyday, enjoyed the boat ride there and every day was different. Saw so much nature, bald eagle, alligator, dolphins, sea ray, osprey, even a wild boar! Will definitely come back!
We celebrated my husband's birthday on Eagle Island and it was perfect! Andy and his staff attend to every detail. We took advantage of a side trip to Sapelo and had an amazing time. Nowhere else can you get a private island experience quite like this! This was our second trip to Eagle and definitely not our last!
Second year at "Eagle". This place is unbelievable. Could not wait to get back here. Ten acres of island seclusion and privacy. Rustic/modern lodge with large wrap-around decks up and down. Every convenience you could ask for from outdoor kitchen to hot tub on the deck to quiet mornings or evenings on the dock. Never used the indoor showers! Dual head outdoor shower is awesome (no towels needed!)! Andy is a great host and he and Craig are always available to make sure you have anything you need. Brought our own boat this year and it was great. Andy helped us launch at Darien docks. Toured Sapelo Island in one of Andy's two trucks he keeps on the island. Spent the afternoon on a 9 mile deserted beach. Took trip to St. Simons for lunch one day. At the island we ate every meal outdoors on the porch or on the dock. Fresh crabs, shrimp, and fish abound. The days are long and the evening are filled with absolute silence...unless you count the nightly frog serenades or a rain on the metal roof from an evening thunder shower. Never saw another soul the whole week we were there. Perfect place to get away from everyone and everything and just relax. I would recommend this place to couples who are looking for an escape and to families who are looking to spend some quality time together. The lodge will comfortably accommodate 14. We will be back annually and hopefully more frequently. We now look forward to this trip every year. Thanks Andy for making this treasure available to those who are lucky enough to find you!
Three couples from Virginia, North Carolina and nearby St. Simons Island descended on this beautiful island early Saturday afternoon. Owner Andy Hill met us with his excellent co worker Mike and drove us to Eagle Island. We dropped off our bags and boated out to Sapelo Island. Had a great tour there of the homes and beach and caught up on Georgia history seeing the 18th century ballast rocks from the European ships which came here to pick up the fine Georgia lumber. Sapelo is a jewel.
Eagle Island has every comfort. Two kichens! One outdoors to assist in any low country crab boils you may have planned. Fresh blue is easily caught off the dock. The wrap around screened in porch with a killer sleeping sofa and hammock is great. The bedrooms upstairs and down are very comfortable and the AC cranks up just right on a hot summer weekend.
Altogether a terrific getaway that is elegant, simple, and luxurious all at the same time. Make sure you visit May Hall Island and be prepared for an incredible house there, too.
We were a group of six for two nights. The house was really well equipped, including a good sound system and wi-fi. We rented the pontoon boat and made a day of going over to the beach on Sapelo. Great fresh crab feast on our return, all pulled from the traps off the dock.. Brought dogs, they had at least as good a time as we did. The house can manage as many as 12 (room for six in the basement) but may work best for 3-4 couples. There's a semi-resident (4') alligator who visits the pond out back and good fishing from the dock. A unique and fun place to spend a few days.
We had a great time on Eagle Island. Andy generously donated this weekend to the Candler Clays fundraising event. The house was very well stocked with all the amenities. We arrived to find our food delivered and our drinks chilled. The outdoor living space was beyond our expectations. Our kids enjoyed the hot tub, cooking smores, and catching fish off the dock. We can't wait to go back! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful property with us.
