|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
This fisherman’s cabin is a perfect getaway. Watch the morning river mist dissipate over a cup of coffee on the upper deck as the sun comes up and warms the land. Bring the day to a close with your favorite beverage in hand seated on a bench at the river’s edge (only 30 feet from the deck).
River fishing -- This area of the White River, below Bull Shoals Dam, is internationally known for premier trout fishing. Fly fishing is extremely popular and fisherman can fish from the bank, or wade during low water periods. Many anglers’ fish from a flat-bottom 16-20 foot johnboat equipped with a 10-20 hp motor. BYOB - you can bring your own boat or rent a boat/guide locally (Debbie at Cotter Trout Dock will give discount). The Game and Fish Commission stocks hundreds of thousands of rainbows in the White annually and anglers come here from all corners of the globe to catch them.
Golfers – Big Creek Golf & Country Club, Twin Lakes Golf Course, and River Cliff Golf Course are all a short drive from the cabin.
Fun for the entire family – Branson is just 1½ hours from the cabin. You will fine shows, Ziplining, Silver Dollar City, Branson Landing, and other attractions. Historic Eureka Springs is 88 mi/2 hours away. Canoeing or kayaking on any of the many rivers in the area, ample trails for hiking, caves for spelunking, and a plethora of antique shops.
The home features two master bedrooms with queen-size beds and bathrooms. A third bathroom is shared by two more bedrooms; with queen and bunk bed respectively. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and basic spices. Kitchen has all the standard items: oven, refreg. with prolific ice-maker, microwave, dishwasher, coffee pot with starter coffee, sugar, creamer, and filters, etc. Grill your favorite food on the gas grill or, if you don't feel like cooking, there are several restaurants in nearby Gassville & Cotter. Linens and towels provided. Flat screen TV w/ HD satellite service (movie channels), along with DVR & Blue Ray DVD player is provided (loaded with movies), also some DVD movies on-hand. There is a cell phone booster because of steep river banks. Cabin phone can receive all calls, but make local calls only.. The WI-FI internet allows cruising the net from the decks or anywhere in the cabin as well as on both decks and by river's edge. Also listed on Home Away-look for listing number 330194. This area of river is private-no full-time residents on this road and nothing but cliffs and trees across the river - very quiet.
River Mist fishing update ---
We want there to be no surprises for returning guests and let first time guests know what to expect. So here is a little update on the fishing at our little rental cabin on the White River called: “River Mist”.
There seems to be an infestation of weeds on the "lee" sides up and down the river.
From a fisherman's point of view the grass and moss behind River Mist is wonderful, as it has lots of scuds that the trout feed on, therefore, contributing greatly to the awesome fishing. It may be bothersome for floaters or swimmers (only the young and foolish can swim in that cold trout stream), but to fishermen it is a blessing. Waders often catch their limit casting along the edge of the weeds.
BUT - when the river is low (running on 0 to 2 generators), the weeds are what my wife calls – ugly. It also makes fishing from the bank difficult.
Location: In the Ozark Mountains of Northern Arkansas, between Mountain Home & Harrison. N 36 degrees 15’ 26”; W 092 degrees 29’ 9”
Payments – Because of internet scams like to use instant money transfer services such as Western Union and MoneyGram. We, at River Mist, only take personal checks. This safeguards you in that you can stop payment on a check and scammers will not use them because it leaves a track right to them thru their bank when cashed; it safeguards us in that we have time to make sure the check is good before your arrival (we have never had a problem with our VRBO & HomeAway guests).
Watch for Scammers – if you are ever in doubt before making a payment, call us (the owners) at the number listed in this website (hm: 870-453-5356, or cell: 870-404-7597). We live in Flippin, AR, so if someone wants you to wire money to Ireland or Kentucky (two recent scammers) then it’s not us. We deal in personal checks - scammers don't.
Professionally managed by a local husband/wife team that try hard to make each stay a memorable experience worth repeating. We pride ourselves in providing a clean, well stocked cabin.
Note: to all our "regular" guest that keep coming back - thanks. We have started giving our guests a "thank you" by giving them a one time 25% off on their 6th visit. Also, remind us you are returning guests for your normal 10% discount - it will at least cover the darn 9.5% tax we have to charge.
Note #2: We are not pleased with the direction the now enormous VRBO / HomeAway company is heading. They want to take even more control of our guests by taking over bookings, providing payment controls thru their credit system, charging a service fee to our guests for bookings (believe they will start charging you 6 to 8% extra for finding your rental thru them), sending out a constant barrage of email ads to our guests, etc.
We plan to sever our contract with VRBO / HomeAway circa October 2016 . If you have enjoyed our little cabin, please save our personal email address and make future reservations directly. We can't enter our new web site or email address here - it will be automatically identified and blocked. The result of dropping our ads in VRBO & HomeAway will be fewer rentals, but will allowing us to concentrate our efforts in providing a great experience to our highly valued repeat guests (and giving our cleaning crew (Zaidee & me) a break. Thanks. OK, let's see if their auto system catches it this time: RiverMist at SouthShore dot com.

We fell in love with the Ozark Mountain/Twin Lakes Region while visiting a couple decades ago. Our career provided the opportunity to live in various locations throughout the world, which helped in our decision to retire in the Ozarks. Small town life along with mountains, forests, lakes, and rivers made this the perfect vacation/retirement location;this is truly God's country.
River is 30 feet from cabin's deck. Convenient to grocery store, restaurants, gas stations. Quite neighborhood, nothing across the river but a forest. Eagles (nest down stream) like cruse up and down the river to fish - have had as many as 5 at once sited at River Mist. The adult Eagles may have been training their kids.
Zaidee & I have had an Eagle diving for fish close to us while we were floating our kiyaks down the White to the cabin. We don't paddle much - float, eat, check out the nice homes, eat, enjoy the river, eat, etc.
Our good friend, Debbie, at Cotter Trout Dock [cottertroutdock.com] gives our guests a 10% discount on a guided fishing trip. The guides are real pros.
Pleasantly surprised as soon as we pulled up. The pictures are great but they don't do justice to experiencing this place in person. Jimmy was really helpful and friendly. The cabin is literally stocked with everything you need to feel like your home away from home. Very comfortable and cozy cabin. As some of the others reviewers have stated, we plan on definitely visiting again soon. Overall a great experience and you're not far from Mountain Home and plenty of nice eating spots.
This was our 3rd stay at River Mist and probably won't be our last. We are already beginning to plan for next year's stay. Jimmy and Zaidee have thought of every possible need so we never have to worry about forgetting something. It is probably already there. The fishing was great! The setting is beautiful and the house is immaculate and so very comfortable. My wife and I feel as if Jimmy and Zaidee are family members. Hope they never sell River Mist. We would very definitely recommend River Mist to our friends and family. Especially those who enjoy fishing as well as quiet time.
This is our fourth stay at the River Mist. We stayed for an entire week. What do you want? Eagles ? Saw em. Deer? Saw tons of em. Turkey? Saw em. Otters? Yes, I said otters. Saw em ! Need binoculars? They got em. And we hired guides and caught fish for four days. This is a very comfortable house with four real bedrooms, a great washer/dryer, and a beautiful kitchen. And a great propane grill on the huge deck. Jimmy and Zaidee take wonderful care of the house and surroundings. If you do not have a great time it is simply your fault. I would not stay anywhere but the River Mist and I tried tons of places before we found this haven. And drive into Yellville and buy you a watermelon from the guy on the left just as you head into town. Delicious ! Love the River Mist. You will TOO !!!
Stayed with our 5 kids ranging 8-16yrs. They loved it. The house was extremely clean and had an excellent view. Kids caught a few trout. We enjoyed all the bunny and animals that would visit. The owners left us cookies, it was great!
What a memory maker location we had family vacation 8 adults, a toddler and 2 babies plenty of room, plus two different deck levels for hanging out, loved the swing and fire pit by the river.. it lives up to its name beautiful river mist everyday, bluebirds, eagles, otters were fun to watch too, fishing, flea marts, motorcycle routes all close by. Great homemade cookies and breakfast starter awesome hosts we would do it again!
Our stay at River Mist was beyond expectations. This was our first vacation home rental and the property was more than expected. The description of the location, home, contents, and river frontage was spot on. The home is very well kept, clean, and stocked with all the essentials - even a few welcomed extras supplied by the owners - the cookies were great. The owners were quick to respond to questions during the booking phase and answered our questions and made suggestions concerning the local area. The recommendation of Cotter Trout Dock for a day of guided fishing provided a great day of catching many rainbows and even a couple of browns over 20". The fishing behind the house was a challenge due to the grass but did manage to catch a few during the high water in the evenings. However, the issue with the grass was expected since it was made known by the owner in the description of the property. I would recommend River Mist to anyone that is looking for a nice place to stay for a few days of fishing or enjoying the natural beauty of the White River area.
Located just upriver from Rim Shoals, 400 meters from catch and release area, fish from the banks, Wade, bring or hire boat, Bass fishing Bulls Shoals & Norfork lakes, Branson MO shows little over 1 hour away.
