A Warm, Inviting Home: There are countless ways to relax in this house. It's filled with books and music--not only an extensive collection of CDs, but also a Mason & Hamlin grand piano. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes and silverware and begs you to cook in it, and the fireplace warms the winter months (in addition to an oil-burning heating system). Sun lovers will want to lie in the hammock on the deck. And for those times when you must be inside, there's a wireless broadband Internet connection. In the Center of Everything: Distance to Kripalu: 2.5 miles; To Bousquet Ski Area: 8.8 miles; To Butternut: 10.8 miles; To Tanglewood: 3.1 miles; To Stockbridge Bowl Town Beach: .8 miles. Dogs are welcome. The calendar shows availability and is kept up to date.
This is a wonderful rental. My husband and I took a long weekend in February here with our dog. It is a house with wonderful open living space; and this space is artfully furnished to provide plenty of room for solitude as well. We loved the grand piano and the varied book collection and cd's as well. It is tastefully decorated with comfortable couches and chairs, and lots of them.
There is a wonderful view from all of the back windows and especially from a sitting area in the corner that provides a great place to drink morning coffee, read a book and contemplate.
We didn't use the two extra bedrooms, but there is plenty of space for more than two here.
It is in a very nice location, near Stockbridge Center and also Lee, Lenox and surrounding towns. So, the perfect spot to hunker down or use as a home base to take in all of the areas many attractions.
The owner provided excellent customer service too!
We'll come again!
We loved the October weekend we spent at this comfy home. It was well maintained and located in a very quiet area. So relaxing!! We would definitely go again.
A lovely place to stay. We stayed here for a long weekend in October and had a great time. House is clean and comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked with basically all you need. Dean is very eager to assist you on what you might need. Highly recommend this home.
My Husband and I wanted to get away for a couple of days. We lucked out when we found this location.
The kitchen is well stocked the house was very neat and clean. We Barbequed our dinner. But there are loads of great restaurants in the area. It is close to town but still very secluded and quiet. We had a wonderful time, there are so many beautiful state parks close by. We visited Beartown State Forest and Natural Bridge State Forest. We were only there for 2 days but we had a really wonderful relaxing stay. My dogs also enjoyed the trip. Thanks again Dean!
My only fear in leaving a glowing review about this beautiful property is that you, dear reader, will snap it up some week when I would like to go back. But as a frequent vrbo-er, I believe great hosts must be rewarded with great reviews.
The place was absolutely wonderful. A well-equipped kitchen, nice beds and furniture, and plenty of personal touches. Plenty of extra towels and good blankets and pillows.
I could have spent the entire weekend planted on one of the comfortable couches, reading one of the hundreds of great books on the shelf in the living room -- and in fact I enjoyed three novels in three days! Don't stay inside your whole stay, however, because there is plenty to do outside as well. Monument Mountain is a great hike, and if you have little kids like we do, there are easier walks and a couple of playgrounds nearby.
The back deck had a great view, and it was a nice peaceful place to enjoy dinner or read. I am not an educated bird watcher, but I can see how the place would be great for that.
Oh, and my two year old LOVED the old fashioned dental chair in the living room. What a fun, offbeat touch.
Thanks for a wonderful stay at your house!
We just went to this house for a long weekend with my parents and our 6-week old daughter. The house was perfect - one big room on the ground floor with plenty of room for our travel crib and easy access to the living room for midnight feeds etc, and two upstairs bedrooms for my parents to spread out and get away from the baby noise.
The deck was gorgeous with a great view over the beaver pond, although a bit more outdoor furniture would have come in handy given the fair weather for October we did actually spend quite a bit of time out there.
The kitchen was fantastically stocked, the owner clearly leaves extensive supplies which made cooking a lot easier (i.e. things like salt and oil) and the layout and large range oven made cooking for 5 very simple.
It's in a great location just off the highway but well out of earshot/view of the traffic. I would definitely come again, we loved it!
Berkshire Beaver Lodge: Come springtime, vibrant orange Baltimore Orioles nest in the willows. A Great Blue Heron returns to the adjacent beaver pond year after year. More than 75 bird species have been spotted on the property, not to mention the occasional snapping turtle. Thanks to a thriving wetland ecosystem, an abundance of frogs and bats--natural predators of the mosquito--keep the pest problem down. The viewing platform for all this wildlife is the southern facing back deck, which also provides a front-row seat for the fall color display on the mountain out back.
Other Activities: Shopping, Kayaking, Boating, Parasailing, Snowboarding/mobiling, Tubing, Wildlife Viewing, Health/Beauty Spa, Racquetball, Hot Air Ballooning
