About Shane Daugherty - Owner/Builder
When I'm not crabbing I clam or go fishing.Sometimes a walk on the beach or the trails along the ocean cliffs out by Shore Acres is just right. Don't tell anyone but the surfing here isn't so bad either. I love this place!
Shane Daugherty - Owner/Builder purchased this House in 2005
Why Shane Daugherty - Owner/Builder chose Coos Bay
The narrow canyon valley below Golden and Silver Falls is wonderful. I grew up here moved away, and came back for the natural beauty and solitude of the Oregon rain forest. This area has been a favorite of mine since I was a youngster. In 2005 when the bare land became available I jumped on it and started a three year art project which became Below the Falls Lodge.
What makes this House unique
One of my favorite things is to take a hot sauna then jump in the creek. It really makes you feel alive. Also during the warmer months the upstream swimming hole has a rock to jump off of. Fall and Winter are great also, following the rain wild mushrooms come then salmon and steelhead. I really enjoy hiking the falls by the light of the full moon. The old growth fir and cedar are so amazing. The lodge was a huge art project, I tried to be unique and creative during the entire construction process. I think you'll appreciate it.

We really enjoyed the cabin and it’s location near the water falls. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The wood stove was very nice on the chili evening.
A wonderful home
Truly beautiful place surrounded by nature with all the comforts of home.
Relaxing and fun
Great stay with family. All good reviews true. Nice swimming hole short walk from house. Falls are wonderful. Easy drive to Coos bay and Bandon. We plan on returning next year.
Only down side, charcoal grill needed to be clean. I would have enjoyed barbecueing listening to river
Other than that a great vacation
This was a fun place to stay. We only stayed one night, but agreed that more would have been better.
This is a beautifully crafted home but the pictures of the property are deceiving. The creek is shallow and not easily accessible from the house. The backyard is small but appears large in the pictures. The "walk" to the falls is AFTER a drive down a dirt road. You have to CLEAN the house before you leave -- clean the bathrooms, vacuum, do laundry. We left NO dirty dishes, not even in dishwasher, did 2 load of laundry, cleaned the house very well and were still charged for a small hole in a pillow that we did not do! The screen door is torn so you cannot leave sliding door open, the firebox handle is broken. This house is extremely secluded, so if you want that you will like it here -- but take pictures when you get there!
We enjoyed our stay! Kids loved all the critters they found. The falls and especially the walk to the falls were our favorite part! Thanks for sharing your beautifully built house with us, Shane and Maria.
