Why The Owner chose Kailua-Kona

We purchased our vacation home in this location because Kona is the combination of the best that Hawaii has to offer. Sun, surf, and lots of ALOHA!

What makes this house unique

Since each of the units is an individual building, you get the benefits of renting a home, while enjoying the convenience of a condominium. Because the complex is only 12 units, you can have the privacy you want, but you are likely to make new friends by the pool during the unofficial sunset happy hour!

Guestbook comments from the owner

A great place to stay

We recently had the opportunity to stay at Kona Onenalo owned and operated by Jeff and Brenda Gilb. The home is absolutely amazing; the décor is beautiful, lots of room for everyone (we brought six). The Gilb’s take great care in ensuring that you get the most out of your vacation. Lots of books and literature to point you in the right direction in deciding what you want to do and where you want to go. The views from the lanai are beautiful and the ever sounding crashing of the waves leaves a memorable impression. Also from the lanai you can see whales and dolphins surfacing in the ocean. We actually saw two humpback whales, what a great sight to see. This is a gated community which provides safety a very relaxing stay.

The Island takes on many faces as you travel around; the waterfalls and rain forest near Hilo and the charm that Kona offers. As we traveled around we really grew to appreciate everything Kona has to offer. The main village in town is wonderful for walking and shopping, has one of the best markets I’ve ever seen. Kona really has something for everyone; this was the best vacation me and my family ever had, if you want to stay in a beautiful home with close access to the best the Big Island has to offer this is for you.

Wonderful rental!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of three couples recently rented this home and found it to be beyond perfect! Brenda and Jeff are great to work with and have seen to every detail that would make your stay ideal. The home is stunning and the photos are just what you will get plus more. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the upstairs master bedroom has a lovely lanai with ocean view. The home and storage area are stocked with everything you could need and more. This is the best stocked kitchen we have ever rented. The grounds are gorgeous and it is very relaxing listening to the ocean at the pool and watching spinner dolphins play.

This home is located in a great spot along Alii Drive with Magic Sands beach and Kahaluu Beach Park on either side. The snorkeling in the little cove attached to the property is very good when the tide is low. We all loved this home and would highly recommend it for your perfect stay in Kona!

Troical Heaven! You will love it!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a wonderful visit at Kona Onenalo number eight in early November. Our hosts, Brenda and Jeff, have outfitted their house with everything that you could possibly want for a Hawaii vacation.

If we were going to the beach or going snorkeling or going hiking there was equipment and host-writtten books showing suggestions on where to go to have a thrilling adventure. There were beach chairs and loads of beach towels!

And, the house itself has a marvelous view of the Pacific ocean. and we saw dolphins exercising and showing their acrobatic moves while we sat on the lanai enjoying our meals. The kitchen and the pantry were beautifully equipped. We made very few trips to the grocery store! The tropical grounds around the 2000 square-foot house are beautifully maintained by a gardner who loves his work. After a swim in the spacious pool we spent the sunset hour meeting and enjoying our few neighbors and comparing favorite snorkeling spots.

The beds were terrific and we woke-up to the sights/sounds of the Pacific and the sounds of the tropical birds. The natural ventilation and the numerous fans kept the house at a comfortable temperature day and night. And, of course, everything worked -- TV, high-speed internet, etc.

I would strongly recommend this house to one or two couples and families of up to six. You will love it!

Perfect Ironman Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5

Spent the week before Ironman getting ready to race in a great vacation rental. Best equipped VRBO rental we've ever been in. Pantry fully stocked with cooking needs, locker full of snorkeling equipment, beach towels, plenty of everything. Owners are very accessible and they keep the place in great condition. Location watching the ocean and sunsets is unbeatable. Short drive into town, and you can go up the hill if Ali'i Drive is slow. Quiet peaceful place to stay. Hope to return when I qualify again.

Oceanfront Vacation Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Our family, which included three generations, found this condo to be the perfect vacation setting. The moment we walked in and saw the absolutely stunning view of the pool and the ocean just beyond we all knew that this was going to be a vacation that we would never forget. The condo is equipped with everything needed to play in the water, have evening barbecues on the deck, or just relax and listen to the sound of the waves. It is also well located for site seeing adventures, and there are many to choose from on the island. Brenda provides a comprehensive written description of things to do as well as great places to eat which we appreciated. Our week in this beautiful condo left us with smiles and dreams about coming back.

Exceptional Kona Condo

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this Condo for a week with a family of 6 and had a wonderful experience. The Home is set up with everything you may need or want for your stay on the island. The location is perfect for access to the beaches, shopping, sightseeing and touring the island. We used the beach chairs, snorkel gear, coolers to take picnic lunches and anything we could think of was already provided for by the owners. You can walk to the beach, snorkel from the back gate of the property and we were able to watch dolphins from the lanai.

Brenda has all the instructions for the condo laid out along with information ranging from tours, to restaurants and menus along with great sightseeing locations on the island. The pictures listed do not even come close to showing the true beauty of this quiet and lovely home. I can't thank Jeff and Brenda enough for sharing this with our family and we will certainly be back to stay here again on future trips to Kona. Outstanding experience!

How a VRBO experience should be!

  • 5 of 5

To say it simply: This is the experience you should get with a VRBO rental. The owners are extremely easy to communicate with and you get what you see in the photos and MUCH MORE! It is a rental that you should consider while staying in Kona. Truly excellent!
