Banner Elk Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, sleeps 8, VIEWS!! ***Wireless Internet Available***

Relax in the peaceful mountain surroundings of this 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom log cabin. Wake up to the crisp mountain air and swing on the porch overlooking beautiful long range mountain views. Take a stroll through the 3.75 wooded acres up to the neighboring pasture to see the cows and horses. Enjoy an evening of grilling out on the back deck or take the scenic country drive down to Banner Elk for a nice evening out.

There are many activities in close proximity to the house. The Watauga River has three nearby access points to go fishing, tubing, or picnicking. Nearby Valle Crucis has a large park with lots of weekend events, and another river access point. Boone, Banner Elk, Watauga Lake (Tennessee), Beech Mountain Ski Resort, Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, a winery, a blueberry patch, and much more are within a short drive.

The two bedrooms on the main level have their own bathrooms. The two lower level bedrooms share a hall bathroom. Recently renovated lower level!! Plenty of room for multiple families to spread out.

NOTE: We have hired a new cleaning service as of 1/20/16, thank you for your comments as we strive to ensure the upkeep of our home!

WINTER RENTALS: If there is snow or ice, you MUST have all-wheel or 4-wheel drive to access the cabin. The area has many hills, as does our driveway. There is a paved road to the house that gets plowed, however this is a rural area! Please plan accordingly.

About Bobby Greiner

The Greiner Family purchased this wonderful property in 2010, to be able to come to the mountains more often and enjoy the cool, refreshing mountain air and scenic views with our children. We get to spend quality time as a family roaming the mountains, to escape the hectic life of school and work at home!

Imagine How: We also strive to support research to find a cure for Muscular Dystrophy, as our second son Matthew (age 4) has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. DMD is a degenerative, fatal muscular disorder that currently has no cure and not many options to even help mitigate the effects.

Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (www.parentprojectmd.org) is one group that is dedicated to providing funding for muscular dystrophy research, and has helped us run several fundraisers. As parents we can only hope and pray that a cure is found for all these young boys.

Please help support our cause by renting our cabin. A portion of the income generated will go to support muscular dystrophy research. See Matthew's website: www.ImagineHow.org for more information or if you are interested in supporting directly.

Great getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My family booked this cabin in hopes of a quiet weekend getaway. Our expectations were exceeded! The description provided was exactly what we found. Vey nice and clean cabin, spacious, and beautiful view! I loved that there were toys, rocking chairs, even a small high chair for our 2 children. Would love to stay here again!

Wonderful getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family decided to plan a last-minute mountain getaway last weekend. We found this cabin on a Wednesday night, corresponded with Bobby on Thursday and arrived on Friday afternoon. Bobby was super prompt and great to deal with.

The cabin was exactly as described. Lots of sleeping room, a very usable, stocked kitchen, lots of indoor hangout spaces and beautiful views out the back porch. The ping pong table was a hit with my family. We also had movie night with the great TV setup in the basement rec room.

It is a long (40 minute) drive to the nearest grocery store, so make sure you stop on the way in to stock up! We made several meals at the cabin & grilled out as well. The kitchen is well stocked with necessary ingredients as well as cookware.

There are fun things to do nearby - we went to Otter Creek Falls in Seven Devils, Elk River Falls and Grandfather Mountain. The weather was perfect for July - much cooler than where we came from near Charlotte.

We will definitely consider coming back to this property. I would recommend something with 4WD if planning to come when there's snow on the ground. Any other time, it's well accessible with 2WD cars.

Impressed with the Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a great cabin experience! The directions were easy to follow and helpful for folks not from the area. The cabin was exactly as described with more than enough sleeping options and things to do when we had dreary weather. The cabin was clean when we arrived and there were plenty of linens and towels provided. It was a beautiful weekend escape location that I would certainly recommend!

Excellent Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

I would agree with the other reviews that the cabin was roomy and provided enough space for everyone to spread out. The location is semi-secluded meaning there are houses nearby but it is away from surrounding towns. If you want to get out and do things around the area, plan accordingly as it will take time to get to most destinations. I would also agree with the cleanliness of the house could use some work. There was a lot of dust specifically upstairs living area and we cleaned out under the couch cushions as there was a lot of leftover snack food from the previous guests. Water pressure in the downstairs bathroom shower is pretty low but manageable. I wouldn't say there was much of an area to walk our dogs but it sufficed. There is a cow pasture right next to the house which was neat for our daughter to see them up close but you could possibly get their smell by the front door. Beautiful views off the back porch. There is a perfect spot on the lower deck for a hot tub which would have set this cabin far above the others we have rented previously. The metal fire pit was great and a lot of seating available on all levels of the back decks. We did some shopping in downtown Boone - the shops were really cute and had a great variety of things. There is hiking nearby on Beech Mtn (right near the dump and they don't recycle so no need to separate items). We saw a beautiful deer on our first trail. We also went ski skating at the Sugar Mtn Resort -- it is outdoors and nice scenery all around. Elk River Falls is beautiful but took us a long time to get there an there isn't much else to do around there as far as hiking or shopping. Overall, wonderful cabin, wonderful area. Thank you for a great Thanksgiving family vacation!

Great place, HOWEVER

  • 3 of 5

We booked this cabin because it was very open, had in house games, and a great view. When we got there, all these things were true and the view was better then on line. Perfect get away place. Our issue was there was tons of dust, like it hadn't been properly cleaned in a few weeks, the towel that were provided were musty smelling and (this is my fault for not reading the directions) we had to take away our own trash. The local trash place is about 15-20min or so down the road....however they are closed on Sundays :( which made our short trip a lot longer. Great place even though.

Great Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was amazing! It looks much better in person than online! There was plenty of room for everyone and we had such amazing views throughout the day. It is out away from town, but perfect if you are wanting to get away from crowds and traffic and just spend time with family and/or a group of friends. We traveled in the summer so we didn't have any bad luck with weather, but our phone GPS would sometimes lose the location but the information provided by the renters was sufficient to locate the cabin. We plan to stay here again!
