I knew Bluffton had a charm all its own. It is nestled between the bluffs of Lake Michigan and the shores of Muskegon Lake. During the vaudeville era is was the summer resort area for Buster Keaton and other vaudeville luminaries. Hence, the name ?Actors Colony? originated and is used to this day. There is evidence of street car rails on Thompson Street adjacent to Cherry Street. The homes are all different; to say, older, remodeled and with much character. I purchased this property in 1999 and used it for a monthly rental several years. However, at some point, I realized it could be a great weekly vacation property. I had a desire to improve it and develop its potential. I have had fun decorating and creating an environment where people will enjoy themselves and want to return.
The back yard has a large fire pit and fire wood is provided free of charge. Laundry soap is provided. 2 10-speed bikes are available and one 'old fashion' bike with a basket is available. The home is so warm and cozy. At night you can hear the waves on Lake Michigan. Beautiful neighborhood.
Activities : Many festivals in Muskegon throughout the year. USS Silversides Museum at Pere Marquette beach; swimming in the clean, lovely waters of Lake Michigan; boating of all sorts; golfing at many local courses.
Hello—I’m Linda Wood. I grew up in Muskegon and have worked in the real estate business for over 30-years. Remodeling and managing have been my primary talents. The two Cherry House properties are my only weekly rentals. It has been a great deal of fun for all of us involved in the preparation and maintenance of this unique and marvelous property.
Linda Wood purchased this house in 1999
I had managed this property and knew the area. I realized it would make a perfect vacation property since it is so close to Lake Michigan.
Historic - Summer home of Buster Keaton and other vaudeville notables - walk to Lake Michigan, Pere Marquette Beach - largest public beach on Lake Michigan - absolutely beautiful sunsets - only deep water port on Lake Michigan - observe large boats and sailing vessels entering Muskegon Lake - Great Fun
Thank you for everything !!
We enjoyed your place very much and will look to come back again next summer!
This was a last minute vacation and the home was available. It is a very cute house with lots of room and decorated very nicely. I felt right at home. It was close to the beach at Lake Michigan and we walked there several times. It was easy to get to and a perfect location between White Lake and Grand Haven., We loved the fact that there was a fire pit in the back yard and sat outside and enjoyed the cool weather, a bottle of wine and a great fire. Thanks so much for allowing us to stay...I hope to do it again real soon!
Cottage was an older duplex with amenities and very clean. Walking distance to Lake Michigan and to Muskegon Lake. Neighborhood is quiet and safe. Lakeside is a charming location with many little shops and stores. Cottage had a nice back yard for our pooches, A/C, washer dryer, dishwasher, etc. Linda is great to work with and we will return when our busy schedules allow. Had a great time. Visited the Station, US 31 Bar-B-Q both of which are Muskegon icons. Close to Meijers grocery/super store.
I stayed at this rental from March 15th until July 1st, It was warm and cozy during the last few cold nights and was cool and comfortable as the warm weather arrived. Linda and her team are top notch people they cater to your every need the home has everything to make your stay perfect and if you need something Linda and Greg are right on top of
Your needs. The house is clean comfortable and very well equipped.
Great Job Linda thank you so
Much for helping us relocate to Muskegon.!!!!
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was perfect for us and the location was the best. We could walk to both lakes very easily.
We truly enjoyed staying at the property. The back yard was really nice, as was the deck area and the fire pit. Thank you for providing the fire wood. The size was perfect for a large family reunion. Excellent access to Lake Michigan and the beaches. The neighborhood was very quiet which made for a very relaxing vacation. The cabin was completely equipped with everything we needed. I would highly recommend this rental broker and this cabin to anyone looking for a great vacation stay.
Rented both sides of this duplex for a week late July/early Aug for 13 family members 6-65 years old. Love, love, love this place!! It is perfect for an active family. Love, love, love the adjoining backyards and firepits!! Used every night! Thanks for GENEROUS supply of wood! Houses are very, very clean, roomy with plenty of linens, kitchen utensils, pots & pans etc. We eat in every night and had plenty of room for 6 more visiting family members. House set up is a little unconventional: no restroom on main floor. Access to restrooms up or down steep flight of steps. Property and house are older and not so highly groomed that you are walking on eggshells the whole time. Management very responsive: washer leaked on day #3 and repairman showed up in 3 hours to fix. Only issue: wiring in older house can't tolerate overload (coffee maker & our electric kettle at the same time Lol). Originally from this area, we LOVE beach, channel, farmers' market. Love this property! Thanks Linda!
