Great location right off Montana Ave. with a double dedicated parking space. Walk right out to Peet's Coffee, Whole Foods, trendy restaurants, and great shopping. You will find shops such as Shabby Chic, Williams Sonoma, Keils, Dry Bar, Room and Gardens, to name a few. This property is right in the thick of things but so quiet, you'll think you're in the country. It is surrounded by gardens and with it's own patio, is great for enjoying the wonderful Santa Monica sunshine. Hardwood floors, fireplace, washer/dryer, high quality linens, furnishings.there are buses and walking paths to the beach. Malibu is an easy and beautiful drive up the coast. The Getty Villa is nearby. Brentwood and Beverly Hills are close by.
This cottage has 2 parking spaces, tandem style.
We have enjoyed these cottages more than once and intend to keep coming back! We love the walking distance to everything! Coffee, restaurants, Whole Foods, the ocean... It is probably the most convenient, relaxing place to stay in Santa Monica. Plus fairly easy on the budget. Thanks again Evelyn for a great stay!
My wife and I found staying at cottage #5 a real treat. It was a little oasis of privacy and pretty gardens just a few feet from the convenience of shops and services, with a safe and convenient parking space off the alley in the back. We loved the whole style of our cottage, the comfy living room with working fireplace, the white dishes, the fluffy towels, and especially the bedding! It was also a wonderful convenience to have the washer and dryer included in the unit. Although the space was tight having it in the bedroom, it was great to be able to wash our clothes and some towels during our travels. The only deficiency was the shower. The claw foot tub and the bathroom's fixtures were charming, but the shower curtain situation should be examined. It's impossible to shower without having the shower curtain stick to your body all the way around. Other than that, our cottage was one of the cutest, most unique accommodations of our trip, and I would recommend it to others.
The advance reservations tell the story. Fortunately we were able to close a gap between reservations on (2) separate occasions. As a 'first-timer' we could not have been more pleased. The furnishings, decor, location, value with parking is w/o equal.
I won't bore you with non essential info about what a great time we had, I'll stick to the purpose of reviews.
This place was CLEAN! We found the bed to be quite comfortable. Plenty of closet space to unpack. Bathroom was private and because of a tiered shelf in there, we were able to fully unpack our toiletries, we appreciated having the use of a washer and dryer. The kitchen is small but very functional. We didn't cook on this trip (too many great restaurants to choose from) but we used the dishes for left overs and sat outside on the private garden patio. The cottage is small but not cramped at all. What you see in the owners photographs is what you get.
Communication with the owner was exceptional through the entire process. I appreciated the professionalism. We were in contact throughout my stay(I chose to use text messaging) and questions/concerns were taken care of immediately.
Let me also emphasize, LOCATION,
LOCATION, LOCATION! We were in the middle of it all, yet away from it all when we wanted to be. You could easily walk to the beach (plus the cliffside stairs), Caffee Luxxe for the finest cappuccinos in California (IMO), but there's also Starbucks, Peet's, and a few others. There were more than a handful of organic restaurants and juice bars within walking distance (our favorite go to was Kreation Cafe), you could walk to 3rd street Promenade (the cottage is right off 14th st.) and the Santa Monica Farmer's Market relatively easily, as other's have said, there's a Whole Foods Market (just a small basic one) and there are several church's of many denominations in the area.
It was all just incredible.
Perfect in every way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our week long stay was for outpatient surgery at St. John's (Dr. Aaron Filler). Using the bus and cabs for appointments, the beach, some ramen on Sawtelle Avenue, and the hospital worked well. The cottages are very quiet and comfortable. The bed has nice linens and a good mattress. The small private patio was ideal for resting with a book. For disabled people, there are two steps up into the cottage. With assistance, I could manage it okay, even after piriformis surgery.
If this cottage is not available, I have others. Email me.
