About David Blank
I purchased the property in 1999 and have remodeled the unit over the years. There is no way to improve upon the location and view. You will agree.
David Blank purchased this Studio in 1999
Why David Blank chose Princeville
The most beautiful setting on earth. Views and climate will have you enjoying every minute of your stay. Beach access and 2 swimming pools will satisfy your hydrotherapy. Kaua'i has the most miles of beach in the state of Hawaii. Most are secluded and easy to access.
What makes this Studio unique
Sundry shop, Peter Burwash Tennis and Pro Shop, 8 newly resurfaced courts, 4 asphalt and 4 synthetic grass, exercise and guest hospitality rooms. Lava rock pool with new pool furniture, waterfalls, and views of Hanalei Bay will provide you with the relaxation you can only find at Hanalei Bay Resort. Resort rates a 10 but this property should be a diamond however needs a major update
Resort rates a 10 out of 10, suite however is dated and needs an update. Musty smelling, and bath tiles had mould, cleaning also not up to par. Would stay again in another suite at this beautiful complex. Dave was great to deal with very accommodating. Final word time to quit milking this puppy and reinvest for the future! Good luck.
#1304 at Hanalei Bay Resort has recently had new carpet installed as well as new stainless appliances. In addition the condo has a new dining room set, new high back swivel lanai chairs, the very comfortable Ecco Foam king bed. The condo is rented 90% of the time or about 300 days a year at an average of 5-7 nights per stay. I had a late cancellation of 10 nights the end of November and first part of December so the last cleaning was on November 25. Due to the high occupancy the condo very rarely goes unused for 10 days at a time and this could have contributed to the stale air. The condo is equipped with air conditioning and I also suggest on my site for those guests that do not favor air-conditioning opening the front door to enjoy the trade winds provides a wonderful breeze though the condo.
There are also ceiling fans in both the living room and bathroom. The humid and wet climate of Kaua'i does promote odors and could well have contributed to the elements in the bathroom. Since the bathroom is cleaned with a bleach base cleaner after every visit and occupied on a regular basis it appears that the 10 day vacancy interval before the arrival could have created this situation. The concerns could have been remedied with a call to me or on site housekeeping. Our housekeeping staff is available 24 hours a day for just these types of situations. I have contacted housekeeping and notified them of the complaint and will make sure an incident such as this does not occur again.
Thank you for your assessment as I have always appreciated and welcomed comments that will enable me and on site staff to insure the continued comfort of future guests.
Great stay in an amazing location!
David was great to deal with and his condo was perfect for our wedding & honeymoon!!! The views from the Lanai say it all and the pool and grounds are gorgeous! Will definitely stay again!
Thank you Emma, it was a pleasure to host you for your special time.
See you next year.
Hanalei Bay Resort studios 1303 & 1304
We loved our stay in these 2 well equipped studio suites. Both have stunning views of the ocean, mountain waterfalls, and the beautiful and serene property of Hanalei Bay resort. Resort staff were very friendly and helpful. We wondered if being so close to the office and Happy Talk Bar would be noisy but were very pleased with the nightly music on our lanai. It was not loud at all and there was only 1 evening in 14 that was a bit too "rockin" for us. Our tastes are pretty eclectic- we do hope that Hawaiian music continues to be featured on occasion. We will be back!
Thank you and aloha Kathryn.
As expected. Nice resort, beautiful views.
The unit was as expected and good value for the money. The view from the unit is absolutely incredible. Kitchen is small, but functional and had what we needed to make our meals on a regular basis. Bathroom is quite large which was nice. The grounds are also very beautiful and very well taken care of. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Bar has live music every night and we could hear it from our lanai (a plus in our opinion), but it was not too loud (our baby/toddler slept through it no problem). We would stay at HBR again.
Lots to Recommend, Some Things to Be Aware of
The owner has two suites, I rented the smaller one for ten days. It's essentially a hotel room with a large bathroom and small deck .
The owner was a pleasure to deal with. He responded promptly, and provided handouts with useful information. I felt that if there had been any glitches he would have stepped up to make things right.
The staff was very gracious.
The view is beautiful, the grounds are gorgeous and well-maintained, the pool, built to feel like you're swimming in a mountain pool, is wonderful, there are several tennis courts, and whether you walk or call for a ride down to the beach, it's just minutes away.
The studio is attractively decorated and very well-maintained. The bed is super comfortable, there's wi-fi, a nice TV, DVD player and soundbar. You have a private little deck with perfect Kauai views.
The back stairs are adjacent to the parking lot, allowing easy access to your car. (The grounds are sprawling; most other units require a golf cart ride to and from.)
The unit's location means it also is adjacent to the building in which the open air front desk and bar are located. Every night from 6-9 pm there is live music in the bar. I liked the music, but would have preferred to choose whether or not I listened to it on a given evening; I heard every single note from the moment they tuned up til their last applause, as if I were in the bar, myself. Sounds of clinking glasses and socializing also drifted over. Sometimes a rowdier group was so loud I could hear entire conversations.
The bar's kitchen kept its side door open, I could have tossed a ball to someone in the kitchen from my balcony. I could hear kitchen and food prep noise inside the unit, and when the wind shifted, the apartment was filled with the smell of cooking bacon, fish...
The unit has a small food prep counter, several plates, glasses/cups/ silverware, a coffee pot, microwave and a college dorm sized refrigerator. That's the full extent of the food prep capacity.
I was disappointed to find that the resort's restaurant was closed for construction during my stay.
If you are out and about in the evening proximity to the bar won't be an issued. I was more inclined to play hard during the day and hoped for quiet in the evening.
Laura; Thank you for the positive review of my condo and the resort. As you can see from my previous reviews there are very few negative aspects to the location.
However, since the Happy Talk Bar opened 9 months ago the AOAO (homeowners association), I, and the other owners in my building have been in the process of designing and building a wall to shield the guests in the Hibiscus building from the noise, traffic, and light from the bar.
I am happy to report the 8 foot high by 50 feet long stucco wall has been finished as of Dec. 6. We are now in the process of landscaping the area adjacent to the wall and the bar and are confident that the issues you raised have been remedied.
I would welcome your return to the resort anytime to check out our efforts to make our guests comfortable in the beautiful surrounding of Hanalei Bay Resort.
Aloha nui loa,
Perfect location. All around wonderful rental experience
My husband and I stayed in unit 1303 while our son, daughter-in-law and thier little girl stayed in 1304. It was nice having the adjoining rooms! The units were wonderful, comfortable, and clean with everything we needed in kitchenette area, along with "extras" in the closet such as sun umbrella, chairs, small cooler, etc! The view is spectacular and location PERFECT! It was convenient being so close to the pool, the reception and gift shop area, the parking area (NO noise or unsightly view) and the Happy Talk lounge! Although the restaurant was still under construction, the Happy Talk provided delicious food, great entertainment and a beautiful view overlooking the water features, breath taking grounds, pool, ocean and mountains in the background! We flew a kite with our granddaughter in a big open grassy area not too far from the tennis courts one evening. Along with such affordable and lovely accommodations, David provided great communication and ease of the transaction from start to finish. We feel he went "over and above" with fair pricing and timely, informative communication! We can't wait until we are able to experience Kauai again and hope to stay in this very same unit at Hanalei Bay Resort!
Helicopter and zodiac boat tours. Plane rides.
