The Palms is a 33 unit tower located at the serene and upscale north end of Jaco Beach, Costa Rica. This fully furnished and amenity filled 6th floor end unit provides 1400 sf of upscale living for up to 5. On the balcony you enjoy ocean breeze living and views of Jaco and it's 2 mile long beach, all fronted by the Pacific Ocean.

From the front door step into your vacation home, and let your eyes follow the first view of the spacious kitchen/living room and the blue ocean you see prominently through the double doors to the balcony overlooking the beach and Pacific Ocean. You can actually feel the high tide surf pounding the beach before you hear the sound of Surfs Up! But you haven't even stepped past the foyer at the kitchen.

There is no reason to cook while in Jaco with all the different restaurants for all budgets, and many choices of cuisines. But if you want to save money and cooking is your way to relax with friends and family our kitchen is fully equipped and gives you all that you need to feed the herd. And if by chance there is something we dont have and you can buy or bring it for less than $50 we will gladly reimburse you for that contribution.

The kitchen is fully equipped for any meal preparation including a one button microwave for the quick eats. Your full table meals can be served on the 3 chair granite bar, or quaintly with table cloth and candlelight on the balcony and the 4 chair wooden table

The living room includes entertainment center with DVD player, music system and wall mounted 42" HD TV. And of course, plenty of DVDs for the rainy days.

The master bedroom has private access to the balcony and private full bath. The large guest bedroom has classic picture frame mountain views and shares its full bath with the rest of the living area. The guest bedroom includes two twin beds that can be merged into a double size bed as needed.

For additional guest, up to 5 total, other bedding is provided by air mattress, recliner sleep in our built in 5 recliners, or outside sofa sleeping.

Each bedroom is equipped with 37/32 inch flat screen HD TVs, with Roku streaming option. The master bedroom has king bed (voted best ever) and quality linens to ensure the sleep that starts with sound of the surf rolling into the shore. Before the waves can withdraw back to the ocean you are floating on the cool gentle ocean breeze into a sleep you waited a year to have.

That's how easy and deep my sleep is here compared to my old life, and how different I bet your first night will be here away from the rat race of life in your North American world.

The bedrooms both have large closets for hanging clothes, and are stocked with extra linens, variety of towels pillows and a hotel safe. There is also an iron and ironing board and good queen-size air mattress in the event of unplanned stay-overs by friends during your stay.

The bathrooms include high flow shower head and rapid recovery 40' gallon water heater, hairdryer and a

makeup mirror for that added convenience.

The main area and guest bedroom

share a full bathroom to provide restroom service for all visitors and guest in your unit during your trip to Jaco.

Most guest end up spending much of the day on the 300 sf covered balcony. That is until the hotter part of day puts us all in front of the energy efficient air conditioning system. It works fast, and separate room controls keeps everyone happy. During that part of the midday try any soft place for a cool drink and a refreshing siesta!! It's vacation time in Jaco.

Easy access from San Jose Airport using one of the many very friendly and reliable shuttle service taxis and vans with the new modern toll highway is something that we highly recommend!! Leave the driving off your duty list on this vacation! The modern highway provides predictable speed limit ride - 1.5 hour from SJO airport in San Jose to Jaco!

Directions to Jacó...

The toll road from San Jose to Puntarenas, aka "Harbour Highway" is evidence that Costa Rica wants to see more traveling tourist to go West! This highway (CR 27) completed in 2010 is the fastest route to Jacó from the airport and San Jose. There are several ways to access the new highway, and the best route depends upon where you are picking up your rental car. The rental agency should be able to provide a map to the highway. Once you're on the highway, it is a straight shot to Orotina. After about 45 minutes and just past the toll booth in Orotina, you exit right, take the cloverleaf to the roundabout and continue south for about 30 minutes on the coastal highway (CR34) to Jacó. Depending where you access the highway and how many toll booths you hit, the toll costs run $3 - $5 total.

You can also take the old highway (CR 3) over the Aguacate Mountains. It is a steeper and more windy road, but quite scenic if you are acustomed to driving in Costa Rica. From the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO), take the Bernardo Soto Carretera (Hwy 1) north toward San Ramon. Exit at La Garita and follow signs to Carara National Park, Atenas & Orotina. Continue on this road through La Garita and the towns of Atenas, San Mateo and Orotina. As you pass through Orotina, follow the signs to Jacó. Stay on this road until the toll booth. Just past the toll booth, exit right and follow the signs for Jacó. Drive time from the airport to Jacó is about 2 to 3 hours, depending on truck traffic.

For those of you who would rather leave the driving to someone else, we have wonderful and trustworthy bilingual drivers that can pick you up at the airport or shuttle you anywhere in the country.

From almost any major airport in the US you can book a non stop flight to San Jose, Costa Rica and take reliable shuttle service from there to Jaco. Be in the condo and on the Pacific Ocean in 4-7 hours, depending on your point of origin. From Atlanta on Delta we are oceanfront in 5 hours!! But not any ocean, and not any place. This is Jaco, Costa Rica, and that is the Pacific Ocean. A world away and in paradise - in 5 hours!

What are you waiting for? And yes, I had that same feeling the first time, and every time since when I see this beach from my balcony. I get that same rush and appreciate that this country is only 5 hours from my first home in Atlanta, Georgia.

Now that is a vacation worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime!!!

Why Amy Shumate or Butch Register chose Jaco

Enjoy tropical paradise in its most powerful natural splendor! Jaco is an easy 1500 ' walk south but our northern beachfront is different in its natural setting and the rocks in the surfzone are obvious eye candy. But on the broader comparisons we have better SAND!! This is due to predominant ocean currents distributing lighter sediments and finer sands on the north end. The resultant larger tide transition beach gives us a better walking and activities base experience at low or high tide. There is also a large river and lagoon to the north, viewable in some of the pictures. The 7 foot tide change twice a day reveals dynamic natural hydrologic patterns and associated forage by waterfowl, wildlife and fisheries in the lagoon and adjacent mountain jungles.

We are located at the quiet north end, and now our new neighbor, Crocs is providing quality retail shops and 5 star restaurant options with a share in their world class pool center. Things are looking up with Crocs as our amenity center next door, and getting louder next door if thats what you want - but come home to The Palms!

Holidays and peak demand periods occur throughout the year. Therefore, the posted rates may not be accurate during those peak times. Likewise, an empty calendar typical of low demand periods allows for negotiable rates. Posted rates are a general guide. Supply and demand forces makes for good business environment for us all. I will work with you where I can. I want business and new friends!

All guests will pay for exit cleaning, check in and concierge support. The fee is $100, and it ensures the unit is ready for your stay, and all guests services are available for your maximum benefit with just a call to our service provider. These management cost are paid by me on your behalf, and are passed on for all guests. The nightly rates are non inclusive of these fees and by passing these direct costs on it allows me to continue to provide the best overall rates in the vicinity.
