Kanaloa at Kona Resort is a prestigious 18 acre development on the Big Island's famous Kona Coast. Managed by the Outrigger Hotel Group, the resort features stunning ocean vistas, well manicured gardens, and plenty of aloha! It is the perfect setting to enjoy Kona's 300+ days of sunshine a year!

Your vacation home is extremely well located. Walk to the adjacent harbor at Keauhou Bay where you can organize sport fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, outrigger canoeing, and sunset sails.

You might also go snorkeling at Kahalu'u beach (thought by many to have the best snorkeling on the island) or go boogie boarding at White Sands Beach--both beaches are close by and feature lifeguards.

Similarly, pampering can be found at the nearby Keauhou Sheraton's spa. Restaurants and shops are conveniently located just up the hill at Keauhou shopping center.

There are also trips to Waipi'o Valley in the north for hiking and horseback riding; helicopter tours; hiking and viewing the active Kilauea Volcano in the south; and treks up Mauna Kea, a volcanic peak rising some 14,000 feet above sea level!

Notice about Kona Country Club closure: Please note that the Ocean Course and driving range are closed for renovation through early 2014. The Mountain Course is no longer operating.

Kanaloa is a short drive from the Kailua-Kona International airport at Keahole (KOA) which offers nonstop commercial airline service from Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, San Jose along with direct inter-island flights from Maui, Kuaii and Oahu.

We look forward to welcoming you and are certain you will have a great stay!

Why The Owner chose Kona Coast

The home is directly on the water with unobstructed views of the Pacific and Keauhou Bay. The unit is extremely spacious and well laid out. Kanaloa is one of the best maintained developments on the island with friendly staff and plenty of Aloha.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My wife and I want to let you know how much we enjoyed our time at Kanaloa. Our trip to Hawaii was planned as a special Christmas gift to our son and daughter-in-law and our time in your beautifully decorated and well appointed condo contributed to a memorable vacation. Thank you.

What a great location and view!

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived at this property we parked in the designated covered parking space and walked around the building to reach the front door and were greeted by the ocean surf pounding on the lava rock shoreline.

The picture which accompanies this listing with the table on the lanai is a very accurate representation of the view. We sat on the lanai for breakfast each morning and we ate at home each night to be able to see the unobstructed sunsets the lanai provided. At various times, we watched cruise ships, kayaks, fishing boats and sailing vessels pass by. You couldn't get a better view at a five star resort.

We were in the property in January and we did not need any air conditioning. There is an extra charge if you want it.

The property was fully stocked with the utensils, etc. you would expect, a cooler, and other helpful vacation amenities. The owner provided a list of restaurants.

To reach the property, you descend down a steep hill from the main highway from Kailua-Kona to the shoreline. About halfway down, there is a shopping center with a large supermarket, a gas station and a few restaurants. These are very convenient for bringing in food items, etc. for dining in.

The area itself is quiet and a real contrast from Kailua-Kona. We found the accommodations very comfortable.

Love this view

  • 5 of 5

We just loved staying for the 2nd time in this great condo. Everything was perfect, the cupboards and fridge are well equipped and despite the fact we bought washing detergent at the supermarket, it was all provided. We spent our days playing golf or swimming, coming back each night to sit on the lanai watching the sunset and sipping on our wine before BBQing. This worked so well, except the BBQ ran out of gas.( It is a communal BBQ) near the pool. Not the owners responsibility but management at the complex. I felt at a holiday time this should have been better. The condo is always spotlessly clean and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this condo to all my friends if they visited Keauhou ( Big island) One of the highlights while we were here was swimming with the manta Rays. We went with Sea Quest just in the nearby harbour, and they were great. This is my favourite place to holiday.... we'll be back for sure!

Love those waves!

  • 4 of 5

had a great time on the Big Island. Going to have to invest in a sound machine as we do miss the sound of the waves as we went to sleep. The only downside was that the noisy neighbors above us coming in after midnight. Of course this isn't something we blame on the condo. It was wonderful. Enjoyed cooking on the BBQ by the pool most nights but also the proximity to many fun local restaurants. So sorry we had to leave. Two weeks went really fast. Also, any issues we had were handled promptly.

Great Vacation Property - Superb Oceanfront Unit, Great Snorkeling/Beaches, Nice Interior

  • 4 of 5

Quality, comfortable, oceanfront (not just ocean view) unit in the very nice Keauhou resort neighborhood.

Close to the touristy hot mess that is Kailua-Kona town (15 minutes) but far enough to feel like a local in a very quiet, well maintained part of the Big Island (beautifully landscaped, fabulous sunsets, and adjacent to a golf course).

About 20-30 minutes south of the KONA airport so very accessible and easy to get to.

Comfortable, clean, tropical-ish interior and furnishings. Spacious and clean throughout.

Excellent restaurants, grocery stores (KTA) and drug store (Longs) in shopping complex nearby (2 minutes). Just be prepared for the relatively high prices on everything since almost everything has to be shipped in from somewhere else. Farmer's market on Saturdays in this complex with lots of great local produce (mac nuts, honey, tropical fruits, etc.). Tip: Just don't get any of the expensive baked goods sold there if you are looking for something tasty - very average (dry and tasteless) and in some cases, downright inedible gloppy messes of saccharine sweet tropical fruit flavored concoctions). However, we bought some of the stuff anyhow to support the locals.

Well-furnished kitchen with all of the amenities and accoutrements to make a great meal.

Close to excellent snorkeling and swimming beaches (5 minutes away), including your own swimming lagoon next door to the complex.

Down the street from where many of the water excursion boats depart (Captain Cook snorkeling, dolphin tours, night manta ray dives).

Clean, refreshing, well-maintained ocean front pool less than 100 yards away if you feel like a quick dip.

Very accommodating and responsive owner/property manager (even offered us a refund if we had wanted to leave early on account of Hurricanes Madeline/Lester).

Well-located for all of your Big Island outdoor excursions (volcanos, cowboy country in Waimea, green sand beach, Waipio black sand beaches, and Hapuna Beach).

Only downside is that you have to pay extra ($25/day plus tax) for air conditioning but we found it totally necessary for sleeping on those hot humid nights where the air is so thick you feel like you can drink the air and everything feels slightly damp including your sheets and body. There were decent ocean breezes at times while we were there in August/early September, but all those did was to blow hot humid air around, so worth getting the air conditioning option.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the kind review! So glad you enjoyed the oceanfront setting! In regards to our central AC, we offer it as an option because of the shocking cost of the electricity on the island. Guests can always decide on arrival if they actually want it. In late summer AC is nice to have, but at other times of year the ocean breezes are very pleasant. Thanks again for for the great review and for staying with us!
