Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), one and a half Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Come experience a very special place, a place where you can step back in time and relax; a place with an old world feel, but with all the modern conveniences of a luxury vacation. The Old Sopris Barn is conveniently located at 501 1/2 Sopris in the heart of downtown Crested Butte. Walk out the front door, and you'll find yourself only minutes from all the best restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Enjoy seared elk tenderloin at the Wooden Nickel, the fabulous pizza at the Secret Stash, or savor your favorite martini or night cap at the Dogwood Cafe. Hop the free shuttle a block away, which drops you at the base of the ski resort in 10 minutes. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes in ski season. A car is not needed in Crested Butte.

This 1890's barn has been totally renovated and brings with it a cozy, warm charm. The morning sun streams through the many windows and skylights, bathing you in sunshine. Sip a glass of bubbly champagne or a hot steamy cup of cocoa with friends around the fireplace. Relax and enjoy the ambience until you are ready to slip into your private Jacuzzi and watch the setting sunlight on Mt. Crested Butte.

Climb into your cozy bed and pull up your goose down comforter as you prepare for a night of sweet dreams. With 2 bedrooms upstairs and 1 1/2 baths, this home easily accommodates family and friends.

If you like cooking, the copper counter tops, exposed logs, and bright, cheery cookware lend its style to any aspiring chef. You'll find the kitchen well stocked to serve your needs. The open floor plan downstairs ensures you'll be included in the conversation even while you create your masterpiece.

Many signed Gustave Baumann prints adorn the walls. His prints reflect images that manage to be delicate and rugged, personal and mythical. In the summer, enjoy the wildflower garden and luscious lawn from your private patio. Nestled in a grove of aspens, the setting of this historical home is a perfect place for a 'real' vacation. Off street parking is available for your convenience. Plus, clean your family's clothes in our new Bosch washer/dryer.

For more more photos or information, just send us an e-mail or call us. We typically rent by the week, but will rent for fewer days to fill in and also on short notice.

Please note that VRBO/Homeaway does make a surcharge if you use a credit card to book.

Great Location in Downtown

  • 5 of 5

Loved not having to drive. We walked everywhere to restaurants, to ski on the Nordic Trails which was the goal of our trip. Really cute place house in the perfect location if you don't want to have to drive everywhere. We will stay here again soon.

Great location, property and owners! I highly recommend staying here.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a ski weekend and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The location is perfect for enjoying town and it is right next to the bus stop to the mountain.

Very special place

  • 5 of 5

Really terrific cabin right in the center of one of the most unique (and special) towns in the Rockies. The cabin is perfectly situated a block off the main street but is itself a destination. It oozes character. I would encourage you to also reach out to the owners who are readily accessible and accommodating.

Great Time at the Old Sopris Barn!

  • 5 of 5

I wish I lived in the Old Sopris Barn! We absolutely loved it and hope to return in the future. It's so charming, cozy, and comfortable as well as very conveniently located. You can't ask for more when you can walk downtown and walk to the ski shuttle. Also, the owners are so nice and communicated very well before and during our stay. They even let our pup come and stay too. Thanks, Trilby and Z!

Great CB Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the Old Sopris Barn and hope to return in the future! Our family of four was very comfortable in this very conveniently-located home. It had all the amenities we needed -- walking distance to down, walking distance to the ski shuttle and surrounded by wonderful, historic homes and shops. We walked to the grocery store, to get dinner, etc. You don't need a car to get around if you stay at this place. The bright, happy colors were so refreshing versus some of the dark cabins you see on VRBO. This was definitely the best place we've rented yet. And, CB is an amazing town -- we absolutely fell in love with its historic appeal. This was definitely a vacation we will never forget.

Charming cottage

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Sopris Barn, once with four people and once with two. The house is lovely and welcoming ... understated chic. The kitchen has everything you need, the bedrooms are comfortable and charming, the master bath tub is great after a day of hiking or skiing. The whole place exudes charm and is right downtown so you can walk everywhere. Another plus ... from start to finish the owners make the renting process a breeze.
