Come experience a very special place, a place where you can step back in time and relax; a place with an old world feel, but with all the modern conveniences of a luxury vacation. The Old Sopris Barn is conveniently located at 501 1/2 Sopris in the heart of downtown Crested Butte. Walk out the front door, and you'll find yourself only minutes from all the best restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Enjoy seared elk tenderloin at the Wooden Nickel, the fabulous pizza at the Secret Stash, or savor your favorite martini or night cap at the Dogwood Cafe. Hop the free shuttle a block away, which drops you at the base of the ski resort in 10 minutes. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes in ski season. A car is not needed in Crested Butte.
This 1890's barn has been totally renovated and brings with it a cozy, warm charm. The morning sun streams through the many windows and skylights, bathing you in sunshine. Sip a glass of bubbly champagne or a hot steamy cup of cocoa with friends around the fireplace. Relax and enjoy the ambience until you are ready to slip into your private Jacuzzi and watch the setting sunlight on Mt. Crested Butte.
Climb into your cozy bed and pull up your goose down comforter as you prepare for a night of sweet dreams. With 2 bedrooms upstairs and 1 1/2 baths, this home easily accommodates family and friends.
If you like cooking, the copper counter tops, exposed logs, and bright, cheery cookware lend its style to any aspiring chef. You'll find the kitchen well stocked to serve your needs. The open floor plan downstairs ensures you'll be included in the conversation even while you create your masterpiece.
Many signed Gustave Baumann prints adorn the walls. His prints reflect images that manage to be delicate and rugged, personal and mythical. In the summer, enjoy the wildflower garden and luscious lawn from your private patio. Nestled in a grove of aspens, the setting of this historical home is a perfect place for a 'real' vacation. Off street parking is available for your convenience.

Really terrific cabin right in the center of one of the most unique (and special) towns in the Rockies. The cabin is perfectly situated a block off the main street but is itself a destination. It oozes character. I would encourage you to also reach out to the owners who are readily accessible and accommodating.
I wish I lived in the Old Sopris Barn! We absolutely loved it and hope to return in the future. It's so charming, cozy, and comfortable as well as very conveniently located. You can't ask for more when you can walk downtown and walk to the ski shuttle. Also, the owners are so nice and communicated very well before and during our stay. They even let our pup come and stay too. Thanks, Trilby and Z!

Loved the Old Sopris Barn and hope to return in the future! Our family of four was very comfortable in this very conveniently-located home. It had all the amenities we needed -- walking distance to down, walking distance to the ski shuttle and surrounded by wonderful, historic homes and shops. We walked to the grocery store, to get dinner, etc. You don't need a car to get around if you stay at this place. The bright, happy colors were so refreshing versus some of the dark cabins you see on VRBO. This was definitely the best place we've rented yet. And, CB is an amazing town -- we absolutely fell in love with its historic appeal. This was definitely a vacation we will never forget.
This was our second visit to Sopris Barn, once with four people and once with two. The house is lovely and welcoming ... understated chic. The kitchen has everything you need, the bedrooms are comfortable and charming, the master bath tub is great after a day of hiking or skiing. The whole place exudes charm and is right downtown so you can walk everywhere. Another plus ... from start to finish the owners make the renting process a breeze.
We rented the Old Sopris Barn and found it just as shown. It was quaint and comfortable and perfectly situated. Except for a grocery run to Gunnison and a few scenic drives (note; don't attempt the entire Schoffield Pass drive in a Prius. Really ) our month was car free. We walked everywhere. The town of Crested Butte is a delight. Good restaurants, fun bars and plenty of friendly coffee shops! And the people? They are so friendly and helpful...we honestly hated to leave.
A fun activity for an hour or two? Take the historic walking tour scheduled thru the museum!
My wife and I rented the Old Sopris Barn for a romantic little get-away over Thanksgiving, and it really couldn't have been any better. The barn is very well appointed and cozy for two, but with the second bedroom and their clever use of space, it can easily accomodate two couples and some children. It's located right in the middle of town, so that most of the restaurants and shops are a two minute walk, and nothing is further than a ten minute stroll. The shuttle to the slopes was easy and convenient- you can park your car and not need it again until you're leaving. We actually met up with the owners, Z and Trilby, for breakfast on Thanksgiving morning and really enjoyed their gracious and outgoing personalities. We hope to get back some day in the summertime to experience the mountain wildflowers, which everyone says are fantastic. We've rented a handful of places through the VRBO website, and I'd say this was certainly our best experience yet.
