This well maintained and family friendly two bedroom condo located in the Mad River Valley is the perfect place for a winter getaway into the Green Mountains of Vermont. Enjoy the best that Vermont has to offer: easy access to both Sugarbush Resort and Mad River Glen Ski Area, cross country skiing and snowshoeing on the Catamount trails, snowmobiling on the VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) marked trails and more! Both Sugarbush and Mad River Glen have daycare available and outstanding ski school programs for adults and children of any level.
Centrally located makes for easy day trips to Burlington, Stowe, Waterbury, and other Vermont attractions. Less than an hour drive into Burlington provides all the shopping, restaurants and attractions, like the aquarium and Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, that the great little city has to offer.
There is always something available to do, but if you just want to put your feet up and relax, there is no better place than being in the heart of the Green Mountain State Forest.
We hope you enjoy it as much as we do (Sorry, we do not entertain winter seasonal rentals).

I have been coming up to Vermont for over 30 years for skiing and summer vacations. I raised four daughters, all who learned to ski at Sugarbush and Mad River Glen and who now bring their families up to enjoy the serenity of the Green Mountains.
Christine purchased this condo in 1996
After skiing many mountains throughout northern New England, I kept returning to the Sugarbush/Mad River area. I chose the Battleground for its central location to Sugarbush and Mad River Glen but also for the summer features it offered (swimming pool, tennis courts, playground, hiking trail access) which made it the perfect summer vacation spot with my daughters.
Besides the easy access to skiing and hiking, it is the little gems of the property that my family loves - the easy hike up an old logging road to the beaver pond and seeing moose tracks, catching butterflies while picking wildflowers, the mountain streams where the kids would catch brook trout with their butterfly nets. This is a place where memories are made.
My family had a wonderful long weekend at Battleground! What a beautiful place. The condo was fabulous. So well stocked, everything we could need. Kitchen was well stocked. Plenty of towels. Just great.
The queen bed is one of the best beds I have ever slept in. My husband is 6-5 and I was worried about a queen size, we always get a king but it really was great. I would recommend this condo to anyone! The owner was very responsive to any and all requests and questions.
You will eat very well in the Mad River Valley. So many restaurants we will have to return to try them all. Skiing was great at Sugarbush and Mount Ellen.
This was a perfect property for my family of four and our four day, three night stay in Vermont in July. We were there so that I could run the Mad Marathon, and it was everything we needed it to be.
The kitchen is more than fully stocked with dishes, utensils, appliances, cookware and bakeware, and the local Shaw's supermarket (less than 10 minutes away) had everything we needed to cook in and save money on restaurants, not to mention be in control of my diet before my race!
The beds were very comfortable and the whole property was very clean, though a bit musty as you might expect when it isn't used as frequently in the summertime. A huge bonus was the washer and dryer - a stacked unit that can still handle good sized loads. Trust me when I say my *entire* family was grateful I was able to wash my race clothes before we headed home!!
An unexpected bonus was the game closet - the kids stayed entertained the entire time in large part because of the Outburst and Monopoly board games we found downstairs! The collection of DVDs was nice, too, and we enjoyed family movie night as I recovered from my race.
Super convenient to downtown Waitsfield, probably a 5-7 minute drive; only 30 minutes from Waterbury and about an hour from Burlington, where we went on a day trip on Monday. Great property, great value, and we would definitely stay again if we ever found ourselves in the heart of Vermont!
This condo is very close to Sugarbush and Mad River Glen ski areas - even Stowe would be an easy day trip.
The condo is very comfortable - it was below 0 every night we were there (-20 one night), but the gas heater kept the whole place toasty. The kitchen is fully equipped and all the appliances worked well. One minor quibble - the water in the downstairs bathroom is hooked up backwards - you have to turn the faucet to Cold to get hot water - very important if you take a shower down there! We would not hesitate to go there again.
We are a family of 4 who have skiied in the area for many years. This condo offered everything we wanted in a 5 night getaway - well equipped kitchen, wood burning stove, laundry and comfortable beds very close to Mad River Glen and Sugarbush. On the day we didn't ski it was easy to get to Burlington where we went rock climbing, shopping and visited the aquarium. Everything worked perfectly at the condo and we hope to return soon.
We had a great stay at the Battleground Condos. This rental met or exceeded our expectations. 1. the location was awesome...just minutes to Mad River Glen and Mt. Ellen (Sugarbush). 2. close to multiple options for good food and cheer...just feet away from the Mad River Barn and down the road from the Hyde Away. 3. comfortable and well furnished condo for a family (and more). All and all - a great location and comfortable condo that's offers a good value. We would happily return next year...
We booked a long weekend here to get some Vermont powder skiing in. Oh boy did we luck out. I didn't realize exactly how close we were staying!! Five minutes to Mad River Glen and about Nine to Sugarbush's Mt Ellen. The kitchen is well stocked, there were some games for us to play if the kids got bored, and the wood burning stove was the perfect way to warm our bones after skiing in -10 degree weather.
