About Vito

Our family LOVES our lakeshore retreat! Our two little kids love playing in the yard and playing on their favorite playgrounds in South Haven, Saugatuck and Douglas. I mean how many two year olds can say 'Saugatuck' for goodness sake!

We get up to the cottage about every other week in the summertime. We only get a chance to rent 5-6 times a year so our renters are part of a small fraternity.

Vito purchased this house in 2010

Why Vito chose Fennville

Our renters' comments regularly include these words:

What makes this house unique

The proximity to the water, openness of floor plan, serene nature of property ... all at a good value.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for checking in! We were at Pier Cove. We are having a great time. The house is very special and I was thrilled with how clean it was (is)!!! The kids were so excited when they got here! (My son) claimed the lower level bedroom right away which led to lots of bickering but (my daughter) was then happy to be upstairs! I love that we are in Fennville. Saugatuck is a bit crowded this weekend!!! There is just sooo much to do around here.

Today we went to fernwood farm and there is an art studio there. The kids got to hold chickens, feed llamas, etc-so great. I have to find some time to ditch everyone and shop!! I could do a lot of that here!!! last night we ate dinner at the mermaid which was great and tonight we are bringing in pizza. The kids are exhausted from the venetian festival. Thanks for everything!

Great New Years Time

  • 5 of 5

Had a phenomenal stay at this house. Working and booking it with Vito was extremely easy and hassle free. House looks BETTER than the pictures. Ton of space, clean, great location and a lot of utilities. Great outside space and grill! Great for all season stay, no matter whats the weather is. The only note i would like to leave for future visitors, is that in downstairs bedroom you can hear people walk upstairs. So if you are the first person who is going to bed, do not pick the downstairs bedroom, you will hear every step upstairs. But if you are have problem falling asleep, then you are good to go. Our trip was great from the beginning till the end. Beautiful area around the house, very quiet. Recommending this place to everyone.

Owner's Response: We have since installed acoustical insulation and dropped a ceiling in the lower level bedroom. This bedroom is much quieter now! Thank for the feedback!

This is an awesome house!

  • 5 of 5

My 4.5 year old daughter and I stayed in this home with two other moms and their 4 kids (ranging in ages from 2-5). We could not have chosen better! First, the house itself is gorgeous (photos don't do it justice), well appointed, and minutes away from anything you'd ever need. Clean and well maintained, the house far surpassed our expectations. The decor was warm and modern, a mixture of Ikea (we think) and other items. All of us fell in love with different fixtures and furniture. Having two living spaces (one on each floor) was also very handy, allowing us to create a playroom area for the kids. Second, the owner is lovely, professional and responsive. All of the information I needed was provided (more than once, I might add, because of a computer flub on my part - but he never seemed at all put out). My emails were always answered within hours of my sending them. And the owner made sure I had his cell phone # in case anything came up (nothing did, the house functioned beautifully!). For these reasons our week away felt like a true vacation. We all got to relax, hang out at the beach, spend time in Saugatuck, Douglas, and even Holland (which was only about a half hour away). Seconds from the house is a great park, and seconds away from that was wonderful beach access (with a tide pool that was perfect for the younger kids). We created a treasure hunt on the beach for our kids, went berry picking, rode the Duck boat in Saugatuck, found a great very kid friendly place to have dinner out, brought food in from restaurants that were minutes away from the house, cooked with local produce, and had a thoroughly delightful time. After putting the kids to bed each evening the mom's got to relax feeling surrounded by comfort and beauty. If you need a three bedroom home, and this one is available I would strongly encourage you to go for it. You will not be disappointed!

Awesome stay in Fennville

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a fantastic stay at this property in Fennville. The house was perfect for our vacation needs. Bedrooms are very comfortable and fit our family of 5 plus my mother quite nicely. The kitchen was super. Good selection of staples, cookware, dining ware, and prep space combined with our own personal groceries made it really easy to prep breakfasts, picnic lunches, and dinners just like we were at home. This is a huge plus when you have young kids and don't feel like schlepping out to a restaurant first thing in the AM. The screened in porch was super for a few evening games of Rummikub, and the kids really enjoyed the swing in the backyard. The location of this property is really ideal. Two really great beaches are right up the road, Fenn Valley winery is 10 minutes away, as is Krupka's Blueberry Farm, a charming and yummy little bakery, and a great local eatery called the Hambone Café. Highway proximity made trips up the coast to some of the lighthouses a breeze, and getting in and out of Saugatuck was super easy. Vito was always available to answer questions and provide feedback. This was our first experience renting a vacation property and we were really pleased from start to finish. I have a feeling we'll be back. :-)

Great vacation rental--close to the beach, quiet, and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at the house for 6 nights in late June/early July. The house has many amenities and a well stocked kitchen (for kids and adults!). There was even a coffee grinder, which we found handy after Vito's recommendation of a great coffee spot in Saugatuck.

The house is perfectly located. You could walk to the beach; however, we chose to drive, as there was free parking and a toddler in tow. There is quick and easy access to the interstate, which allowed us to quickly explore the area. The neighborhood is very quiet, though we enjoyed chatting with the neighbors. We even observed a few deer in the woods in the back.

The house has a fire pit for s'mores, games for the evenings, and a wonderful sunroom. Vito checked in by text on the day we arrived to see if we needed anything. Even before we arrived, he sent many recommendations for the area for eating, sightseeing, etc.

Definitely consider staying here if you want peaceful relaxation and a wonderful host. We look forward to returning next time we are in the area. Thanks for everything!!

When the Weather Outside is Frightful

  • 5 of 5

When the weather outside is frightful, this charming home will still provide a delightful getaway! We coordinated a surprise birthday weekend for my boyfriend and brother-in-law, planned over a month in advance, and though it was 50F degrees and sunny the day we booked with Vito, a big ol' snowstorm blew in the night we arrived. The place was everything we had hoped and expected: spacious, clean, comfortable and very tastefully decorated! Vito was always a quick text away, and checked in with us often (cell service was spotty, which was also expected and no worry). We played board games and watched movies and caught up with old friends and had such a great time without leaving the house except to buy groceries. I wish we would've discovered the comforters in the laundry area the first night because the basement was a little chilly overnight from the big windows, but I wouldn't want to miss the snow-blanketed wooded view. When the snow eased up we did get some nice photos of the nearby beach, which still is very scenic in the chillier months. Fennville and Saugatuck are great summertime destinations, but Vito's house really is a year-round pleasant haven. Despite the poor weather, all the nearby roads were recently plowed (though the driveway was a little tough to spot at first) so we had no trouble getting there. Just put a snow shovel out there, Vito, and you are set!

The house has been well-kept, stylishly decorated, comfortably furnished (the Sumo beanbags are a nice touch... we totally toted them upstairs for movies) and I absolutely would recommend this property to anyone, any time of year.

Owner's Response: The snow shovel is the newest amenity on our list! We have stayed on winter weekends for three years and have never had to deal with snow like you had. We have extra blankets all over the place, but apparently they are hidden too well ... Thanks for being our first winter renter; we appreciate the feedback.

House is good, Vito is Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 8 stayed in this home for a week and had a fantastic time. We were glad we came to Fennville, which was much quieter and more peaceful compared to neighboring Saugatuck. We took the 5 minute walk to the beach every single day we were there. We also brought our own bicycles and explored the area, frequently stopping at farmstands to try delicious local produce.

The house itself is spacious, colorful, and soothing. It was not ideal for our cooking needs (we are a group that enjoys making group dinners every night) because it was missing a couple of key kitchen items, like good knives and certain cooking utensils. However, we did not feel significantly impaired in any way. We spent the evenings after dinner lounging in the screened backporch, watching the sunset on the beach, and building backyard fires. Couldn't have asked for more.

Vito was wonderful, checking in with us throughout the stay, making sure we were well provided for. He was incredibly generous and thoughtful, and certainly exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend staying here!

Owner's Response: This group really came prepared! We always take renter feedback to make future experiences even better. Over the winter we will be upgrading bbq, adding to the kitchen supplies and improving lighting throughout!
