Our favorite place to stay in Nashville!

  • 5 of 5

We visit our grown children often in Nashville, NYC and New Orleans and always try to choose to stay in a VRBO, so we have lots of experience with all types of lodging. This is our very favorite one!

Our daughter is a sophomore theatre major at Belmont University and we always like to stay at CJ's beautiful home, the Ashwood Guest House. Not only is it close to the university campus and the Trout Theatre (you can see it from the backyard) and the shops and restaurants on Belmont Blvd and the neighborhood is wonderful. The home is almost one hundred years old, full of historical details, cozy and warm and welcoming. We have stayed there during an ice storm when the airport was shut down, a record breaking heatwave and in the springtime, my favorite time to visit. What I appreciate the most is the personal interest that CJ takes with each of her guest. She genuinely wants you to enjoy your stay, be a part of her city and come back to visit. The home is well maintained and you can tell CJ is proud of it.The linens, pillows and toiletries are top quality and the washer and dryer is great for a longer stay .

This is our go to, first call we make when we visit our daughter in Nashville.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

We have been traveling to Nashville for a few years and have always stayed in a hotel. This trip was going to be a little longer and we had our dogs, plus we wanted to be close to Belmont University. We took a chance and rented Ashwood Guest House. We were so happy we did. AGH is perfectly located near Belmont and walking distance to many restaurants on 21st Ave and 12 South. The location gives you a great feel for living in Nashville.

The house could not be more comfortable. CJ has thought of everything you need and has provided it for you. The only place I have been more comfortable was my own home. Whenever I go to Nashville in the future, this is where I would like to stay.

Happy to be Back!

  • 5 of 5

We just had our 3rd stay at the Ashwood Guest House, and it was SO good to be back! We were delighted to find that the house now has a gorgeous, tiled, walk-in shower in the upstairs bathroom, with an extra large shower head for that spa-like experience. (Ahh!) The house has such good energy and is incredibly clean and cozy. I love that CJ takes care of the small details that make you feel relaxed and welcomed: coffee beans ready for grinding, all the dishes, cookware and pantry items you would need to cook up a feast, (we didn't....but we could have!), make up remover pads in the glass jar in the bathroom, the latest Nashville magazines on the coffee table, tons of cozy pillows and extra throws for snuggling in the TV room. It's super easy to walk down to Belmont Ave. We met friends at {Blvd} one evening, and another night got take out from PM (delicious!) It's a bit farther to Hillsborough Village, but still walkable, which ranks high on my list. Plus, I just love power walking through the neighborhood to check out all the beautiful homes. And it's just a quick hop in the car to get to the Gulch and Green Hills (where we explored the ever growing Nashville...)Thank you CJ for being such a thoughtful host! We will be back, and hope to bring friends next time!

Nashville Revisited!

  • 5 of 5

What can I say about AGH that hasn't already been said! Well number one it was our second stay in this tastefully furnished house which speaks volumes as typically we don't stay at the same place twice. Often we have find VRBO's can be hit and miss as far as gaining access to the house and general information such as wifi/garbage/central air etc. This is where CJ excels above the competition as her communication is second to non both prior to and day of arrival (and during your stay should you need assistance). This visit we perhaps enjoyed the house slightly more due to the newly renovated main bathroom. While we loved the original claw foot tub, the new subway tile shower retains the craftsman charm yet is much easier to use. The house itself is spotlessly clean and very cozy with the most comfortable beds. It truly is a home away from home.

The district of 12th South, which is within walking distance, has changed much since our last visit. We are not big foodies so can't comment on restaurants but do love our coffee and found the Frothy Monkey to be our favorite java haunt. Whites Mercantile is perfect for picking up bits and bobs we didn't know we needed and I discovered some lovely fashion finds at the local boutiques.

Further afield we came across Leipers Fork close to Franklin which has as to be one of my favorite towns ever! Small - blink and you will miss it - it has an array of high calibre gift shops and restaurants in the quaintest of settings away from the hustle and bustle of modern life! Andrew Jackson's Hermitage is also worth a peek. We went on weekday morning which I would suggest is optimum time for visiting. The house itself isn't very big but the tour guides give the most interesting brief about each room and indeed the former residents. The restaurant affords beautiful views of the grounds surrounding the house and offers a reasonable lunch selection.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our second stay at AGH and discovering places we missed during our last visit. Would I recommend AGH to a friend? Absolutely! But only if they let me come too!

Beautiful house in a great location!!!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed here for one of our best friend's wedding weekends in Nashville. This house was more than we could've asked for - comfortable, quiet, and much larger than it looks in pictures. It was the perfect way for us all to stay together with some privacy while being together!

Owner's Response: We loved having you stay at Ashwood Guest House while in Nashville for your friend's wedding. We work hard to provide a comfortable home for folks to stay in. One that is communal yet private. The living room and dining rooms are great places to hang with family and friends. We know that a lot of our guests are in town for a wedding, graduation, concert or other event, so we have placed mirrors in every bedroom, and big mirrors in the bathroom and upstairs hallway so that everyone can get ready without vying for mirror space. While small, Ashwood Guest House plays big with a thoughtful layout for your comfort. Come stay with us again, soon!
