Great neighborhood with lots of amenities. A special property.
This was the third time we rented from Lupe. And we'd do it again, as long as our daughter is still living 7 minutes away. We love sitting among his many paintings that add a personal and homey touch. And he has always been willing to respond asap to our questions, and accomodate our daughter's dog for visits.!
Without our own car was never a problem. Piedmont Ave. is full of all kinds of stores, including the Piedmont Grocery, which has the best take out hot and cold foods! Only one block away!
And you can even walk the neighborhood at night. Very safe.
Stayed for 8 nights - everything went well. Great location in the heart of the Piedmont Area - we walked a couple of blocks every morning to Peet's Coffee to start our day. The unit was very spacious and turned out to be a great place to just hang out between activities.. We would stay there again.
If you are planning to spend a few days or a month in this Piedmont Ave apartment (actually a two minute walk off Piedmont) of Lupe de Leon, let me warn you in advance, not only are you going to have a great time, you won’t want to leave. Firstly, it is a comfortable, light, and spacious place with terrific art and rugs and a well equipped kitchen. Secondly it is located minutes from the incredible bazaar that is Piedmont Ave. Literally a couple of hundred small shops, cafes, restaurants, a very very fine market, and the only chains are the world’s caffeine infusion oligopolies of Peets, Starbucks, Philz, plus a couple I can’t remember. There is Fenton’s, maybe the best ice cream shop in the world? And one of the very few places still using real crab meat in their sandwiches.
Logistically you are a five-minute drive from the freeway, but more importantly that
access is at the point where access is to the center of the distribution hubs to the east bay,
north bay, south bay, San Francisco, Berkeley, and more. You are just minutes from the
Grand Lake, Lake Merritt, Alameda Island, Orinda, and the University of California.
We will be back for sure. We know you will love the place as much as we did.
This is the third time that I have stayed at Lupe's duplex. Starting to feel like my home away from home ! Very close to so many great neighborhoods Farmer's market every Saturday by Lake Merritt is always great and just a few minutes away. Lupe is very quick to respond to any thing you might need.
Great top floor apartment on a cul-de-sac in the hip neighborhood of Piedmont, in Oakland. The place is functional, cheerful, full of great vibes and wonderful art. You can walk out the door and just a few feet away are a whole slew of restaurants and cafes. We really felt as though we were back in Greenwich Village, the way it used to be a few decades ago. Lupe is a wonderful host. We look forward to returning.
We spent 2 weeks here to escape Southern California heat and immerse ourselves in the funky yet upscale East Bay Area scene. Close to tons of restaurants and walk to one of the area's best independent movie houses, a top-notch grocery store, great wine shop, famous old ice cream place (Fenton's), etc. Short drive to BART and to similar, classic East Bay neighborhoods, including Lakeshore, College Avenue and Temescal. Unit was clean. Good bed, good closet space, surprisingly quiet unit, lovely light thru windows all around. We slept like babies with the breeze thru the screen door in bedroom, and read our paper by the big window with coffee in the morning. Bliss! Big, formal dining area for up to 6, so buy local goodies and have pals over for supper. Kitchen functional and good; dishwasher and stacking washer and dryer worked great. You get a parking space -- worth gold in these areas -- but take note, it is tight, so best to have a smaller car. Vans and pickups, forget it. Landlord is a cool guy who lives downstairs. He has decorated the unit with wonderful modern art. I give four stars only because the tight parking, multiple entry stairs and small shower did get a little old. Too hard for some seniors.
Nice neighborhood with goods and services with in walking distance. Resaurants, markets ,theaters, all with in a short walk
Kaiser Hospital is a 3 block walk, BART 15 min walk
