|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
There is a sense of rustic luxury with high class furnishings, a well-appointed bedroom with queen size bed, a custom built kitchen with black slate top and antique fittings. A dining area with local handmade cherry furniture, living area with designer armchairs, and a small woodstove is tucked into a slate covered corner. Just perfect for watching a DVD, listening to a CD on the Bose sound system, or just watching the moods of the lake through the large patio windows.
The walls are dominated by a large mounted fish caught in Florida in the 1920's by the original owners of the camp, flanked by artful photographs from the owner's sailing journeys around Iceland and the Faroe Islands (it's a fisherman's cabin, remember). Several pieces of original artwork, local and international, complete the wall decorations. The high class lighting fixtures complete the feeling of rustic comfort
Welcome to Nevermore: Looking for the perfect Moosehead Lake vacation? Then look no further than Nevermore Cabins. We have just the right accommodations for your Moosehead Lake escape.Nevermore is located on the shores of the Burnt Jacket Peninsula, just 30 minutes by car from Greenville town (or, 15 minutes by boat or snowmobile, across the lake). Comprising 12 acres of woods, walks and shoreline, and hundreds of acres of adjoining back country, Nevermore was from the 1920’s onwards run as part of the Allagash youth camp, but had fallen into some disuse in latter years.
Having often hiked and snowshoed into the site, we fell in love with the place, and decided to buy it and upgrade it for our own and our visitors use. So we cleared a lot of fallen trees, installed car access, created little romantic walkways, docks, and occasional seating where the views are the most spectacular. We saved some of the old camps, refurbished them to the standard they would have been 50 years ago, and relocated them around a huge fire pit. We then built luxurious, traditional log cabins with all modern amenities and dotted them around the shoreline, each decorated individually, and each with spectacular views and complete privacy. Tree sculptures, swings and seesaws, and our ravens at the gate completed the work. All done by local craftsmen!
This was our second trip to Nevermore. It's so peaceful here you can hear the flap of the raven's wings! We had coffee on the dock in the morning and met a very friendly female duck. Spectacular sunset on our 1st night here! We were disappointed we didn't bring a watercraft with this gorgeous weather but found a surfboard and paddle. So excited! Ended up in the lake, so refreshing, but was fun! We plan on coming back every year...this weekend, in this cabin, was like a home away from home!
