We had a great time at the home on Molasses Pond! Steps from the lake, we found ourselves on the water daily just to relax or splashing in the clear/clean water, very gradual depth from the beach. Water was always warmer than expected for spring fed lake water, even at 6:30 in the AM (a chance to read a book in the quiet and have some coffee before the kids get awake!) Awesome scenery and very enjoyable environment to get away and relax. We had next to zero cell service which is what we needed; I wanted the office to leave me alone for the week! I use AT&T but I understand US Cellular has service in that location. House was clean and everything worked as we expected, appliances, lights, TV, everything! Dale was present on the property at times and helpful but not in our way and a great host.. asking if everything was good whenever we saw him. We used the kayaks, paddle-boat, inner tube floats, life jackets, gazebo, gas grille, fire pit (plenty of firewood!), outdoor furniture - all in good order! No noise from surrounding neighbors and no safety concerns. Wish we could stay longer and we will definitely return if given the opportunity!
The vacation was fantastic! We had a big family and our hosts were friendly, helpful, and had the best beach on the lake. There was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy nature. The lake was warm and calm with the boats available to see more. Great fishing, frog catching we even had a resident bald eagle. Close enough to bar harbor and Acadia state park but far enough that it was peaceful. My family already wants to go back! Thanks for such a wonderful place to spend time. We enjoyed every minute. I will be letting everyone know about this place and we look forward to another vacation here!
We had a great vacation in Maine. Molasses Pond is beautiful and the view every morning was gorgeous. The water is crystal clear! Everything you could need is provided, including linens, towels, paper products, coffee, etc. We played on the kayaks (wide variety of life jackets are provided) and spent lazy days on the beach. We cooked on the grill and ate meals in the gazebo. The owners were so friendly and not at all obtrusive. We ventured to Bar Harbor and Acadia several days (about a 45-60 minute trip). We hiked around Molasses Pond and saw moose tracks, and although we didn't see any moose, we saw deer, turkeys and porcupines. Each morning we woke up to beautiful song birds that we had never heard before (we are from Kentucky). We had a wonderful family vacation and the house was all we could have needed. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a secluded family retreat.
We came to our week-long visit on Molasses Pond in the middle of August, a family of seven, four of whom were teenagers and young adults. The rental is on the 2nd floor, with a deck facing the lake, giving us beautiful views down to the beach and out onto the lake and hills beyond; the space below is used for storage, so we had lots of privacy. The owner, who was so helpful and friendly when we had questions, but very far from obtrusive, lives on his lot next door in another house he had built. There was plenty of room in the 3 bedrooms. All linens and towels were supplied, and our beds were made up when we got there. The kitchen was quite large with a table that could probably accommodate 10, with plenty of cabinets, and equipped with everything you could think of or need. A living room with big-screen tv and a laundry room completed the living quarters. Everything was spotless and new, or close to new, and we were amazed to know that most of the furniture and cabinetry was hand crafted by the owner. The owner has, I believe, the nicest location on this lake, with a large lot that is cleared down to the sandy gravel beach of the lake, and spectacular views. The lake itself is crystal clear, and I thought to myself what a great place for any family with little swimmers, as the slope is so sandy, shallow, and gradual far out into the lake. There are two great kayaks, which we used often to explore the lake or just drift around in the sun and enjoy the peace and beauty of the shoreline, in addition to a paddleboat. The owner keeps plenty of life jackets near the boats, which we used when we paddled out, although the spring fed lake is super calm. Also adjacent to the beach is a great gazebo with large table and comfortable cushioned chairs, built up on a platform, with net curtains that can be dropped if bugs became a problem; we did not need them. A large gas grill was immaculate and used many a night for dinner at lakeside in the gazebo. The owner built a stone ringed fire pit near the beach, and magically a stockpile of quick-burning firewood would appear there whenever we began to use up our supply in our nightly campfires. We made forays into bar harbor and Acadia several days there, but were mostly just happy to hang out on the beach here, and enjoy the peace and beauty of Maine. Add in the sound of the loons in the quiet mornings and nights, shooting stars and toasted marshmallows...paradise in Maine. Thank you Mr. Jordan!

If you are looking for a great relaxing get-away vacation with clean water and private beach this is the place to be. It’s close enough to Mount Desert Island and close to downtown historical Ellsworth (which is a great center). The house is well appointed, spacious, lovely, and the area is rural and private. It has all the conveniences one would want for a vacation get-away which feels like home. Molasses Pond is larger than what I expected and is the size of a lake. My family and I spent time kayaking, swimming, sun bathing, spending time at night at the fire-pit, and watching the loons on this most beautiful setting and it was FABULOUS! We will be talking about our special bonding family experience for a long time due to this special place. By the way, Dale (the owner), provides a couple of kayaks and a paddle boat! How great is that! Dale is most helpful with guiding you with questions you may have on the area and he is super nice, friendly, and a lovely person. This place beats many other cottages and the setting is gorgeous. We had such a great time and I was depressed when our vacation came to an end. Thank you Dale for sharing your adorable place!
Enjoy swimming and boating on Molasses Pond from the 200 ft. private sand beach. 40 minutes to Ellsworth for shopping and 50 minutes to Acadia National Park for sight seeing.
