Peace and Quiet

  • 4 of 5

It was very peaceful and quiet, with loons calling in the early morning a few days, which was wonderful. There were a few issues with the house: There were some things that had not been dusted in a long, long time, no toilet paper when we arrived - I mean none - and some light bulbs that needed replacing. We never did get any of the TVs to work, except for the one in the main floor living room, but the biggest issue was a section of flooring in the lower suite that had lifted and bubbled, which made it unsafe for my elderly parents to stay down there. This meant some changes in plans. It's a relatively long drive to a store for anything, so buy your groceries on the way in. The view from the deck and the gas fireplace made that area the most popular and was where all 6 of us tended to spend our time. There are some nice day-trips from the house and it is really quiet and peaceful. We may have just been lucky as there are houses on both sides and across the street only about 20 meters away. If you're sharing with another couple or other family members, keep in mind that the main suite is beautiful and fully decked out, but all the other bedrooms are significantly less glamorous. On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd say it is a 7/8.

Owner's Response: We very much apologize for the flooring issue in the basement hallway. We had just received news that there was an air conditioning leak that had caused water damage and although we had the "leak" issue fixed right away, we did not have time before our next guests arrived to have the flooring fixed. In addition, I have certainly taken care of the dusting & lack of toilet paper issue which I have discussed in detail with our house keepers. Our goal is to provide a luxurious, peaceful and well maintained home for our guests to enjoy. I appreciate the feedback and hope all the issues brought forward will never occur again.

A lovely home with lots to do in the area

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time at your house in Garden Bay. Hikes to Mount Daniel and Pender Hill, a charter boat up Princess Louisa Inlet, kayaking from Garden Bay, drinks on the deck, dinner at the Garden Bay restaurant, swimming at the Katherine Lake beach, swimming off docks at Hotel Lake, a morning at the village of Madeira Park (including discovering the little boardwalk over the wetland), walking through the woods to the next development up, and many moments in between were all delightful and new for us! Your house is very well equipped, especially the kitchen, and we appreciated the high-quality linens. The covered deck is a wonderful place to read, gaze, or socialize. Beds were comfortable, and the house is spacious. We had two families of four, and there was more than enough room for all. Because the house is set up as two suites, the kids could bake cookies downstairs while we made dinner upstairs. There's a tiny beach where the kids can turn over rocks and find little crabs, and a dock that you can in theory swim from, but it seems people rarely do--the ladder was all overgrown. Hotel Lake and Katherine Lake (both nearby, and Hotel Lake is a 5-minute walk) were more appealing swimming places for us.

We enjoyed staying in this beautiful home with amazing views for two days including the Christmas Eve.

This is a very nicely decorated welcoming home with everything you might need to make the best of your vacation. We can't wait to spend a few more days here in summer.

Gorgeous home with outstanding views!

  • 5 of 5

This is the most beautiful, warm and comfortable home! The views are amazing and we concur that the pictures don't do it justice. There are views from every room upstairs and the light just pours in. The room are very large and will accommodate several people easily. The home is new and the decor is stunning. We enjoyed our days on the hugh patio watching the "parade of boats" as they entered and left the harbour. We will defintely return again!!!
