About Greg Spencer
Oregonian Greg Spencer initially discovered the Blue Ridge area on a backpacking trip to the Cohutta Wilderness in the 1980’s. A short time later, enamored of the area, and the incredible recreational opportunities, Greg began to explore the potential for purchasing raw mountain land, and developing uniquely designed and hand-crafted cabins, taking full advantage of stunning views and a quarter mile of Toccoa River frontage. The 17 acre project has been a labor of love for Dana Spencer as well, who manages all reservations, accounting, housekeeping, and decorating. Other properties include a four unit (circa 1908) apartment building in downtown Blue Ridge, along with a Florida swamp property, on the Withlacoochee River. What began as an adventure has now become a steady endeavor that Greg and Dana manage, by bringing their individually unique talents to the table.
Greg Spencer purchased this Cabin in 2008
Why Greg Spencer chose Blue Ridge
Amazed by the beauty of the Toccoa River and the inspiring views of the surrounding mountains, Greg wasted no time in securing what is now known as the Toccoa House Properties. During the 1990’s Greg built a small cabin, The Riverside Cabin, on the Toccoa River, and envisioned a larger house that he later built on the ridge above: The Toccoa House, completed in 2000. Next came The Carriage House in 2002, and the in-ground, seasonally heated swimming pool in 2007. Our newest addition, The Grey Heron House, was completed in late 2007. Dana is a native of North Georgia and brings Southern Charm to each Guest Experience, handling the Reservation Process, Housekeeping and Custom Arrangements. Our pets and property mascots, Budrow, Lily and Bobby Jo (BJ is named for the Blue Ridge couple, Bobby and Jo, who gave him to us, thank you so much!!), may greet you if they happen to be on the property when you visit. While they often bark, what they really want is for you to pet them! Thank You So Much For Visiting, Dana and Greg
What makes this Cabin unique
Since our 17 acre property spans over 1000 feet of Toccoa River frontage, and consists of a peninsula created by a horseshoe bend in the river, we are surrounded by water on three sides. We are close to town, yet secluded and private. We have other units available, please contact us for more information.

Accommodations were more than adequate. It was like home away from home. Overall it was a short stay.
Anna left our place very clean. Would definitely enjoy having her again.
Fantastic Vacation Home!
Every year we take a family vacation with four generations attending - this was by far the best one yet! The house had three separate living areas and the kitchen was fantastic! Each family had a night to cook and we ate out on the screened in porch. House was clean and very comfortable. Pool was also awesome. Owners responded to questions very quickly. If you are thinking about renting the Grey Heron you wont be disappointed!
Beautiful spacious home with everything we needed for an amazing weekend of relaxation
This home was clean, well kept and in a wonderful private location with beautiful views of the mountains and the river. Just lovely!
We enjoyed it so much. Lovely house and so appreciative of labels everywhere. Did you find one light blue shoe in the master bedroom?
So glad you loved it. We will check on the lost shoe.
Great weekend getaway
Grey Heron House was a great cabin for our girls weekend. The private community/neighborhood had some great features, including disc golf, community pool, parking down by the river, many docks and chairs to sit by the river. The cabin was very spacious and clean. The kitchen is gorgeous and the screened porch off was perfect for evenings.
Our most successful family reunion thanks to Dana and Greg who are wonderful to work with.
Our four cabins were comfortable and perfect for the age groups that my sister, brother and I, the "seniors", were hosting. We had 32 people between the ages of 3 and 77 - four generations. We all loved the pool and being down by the river. There were hikes nearby that we even took the "littles" on and thoroughly enjoyed. The train ride was a huge success and the kids loved mining for gems. Our nine second-generation cousins came from Georgia, Texas and California had a fabulous time just hanging out together especially when when the "seniors" took the kids on "juniors night out.". Our family reunion was a tremendous success ! Thanks Dana and Greg.
