Being in the middle of West Village, it is so easy to have a great time and enjoy the city life right out the door. You can literally become a New Yorker in minutes. The courtyard makes for a great area for lunch, and the apartment is warm and inviting. I really hope you enjoy it.
This was my very first trip to NYC. I wanted to stay "like a local" and enjoy the quieter parts of the city. First off, dealing with Luca (property manager) was fantastic. He was very organized and prompt with information. Getting to the apartment was very easy, many subway lines intersect just 2 blocks away. The location of the Carmin Street apartments cannot be beat, we took the subway up-town, down-town and over to Brooklyn, all from the station just 2 blocks away. I was traveling with my 7 year old daughter and we found so many parks and playgrounds within walking distance. This is a perfect base for a family vacation to the city.
Previous posters commented on the subway noise int he apartment, and yes we could hear and feel the subway. After the first night we did not even notice it. Other than the "slight" noise from the subway, the apartment was quiet. No noise from the street. The private courtyard was wonderful!! The neighborhood had many great restaurants, our favorite was the Grey Dog. Wonderful staff, lots of choices, great coffee and nice beer selection. We also got carry out from Potjanee (Thai) and had bagels from Bagels on the Square on the way to the subway station every morning. I fell in love with NYC during this trip and I plan to return soon, and will definitely try to stay here again!!
This was the best apartment in our three years of renting one for a month in the summer. It is roomy, well maintained, clean, and in the heart of the West Village. We counted over 20 restaurants on Carmine Street alone. It's close to the Hudson River Park and just about everything that the West Village has to offer. Luca, the contact person, John, the super, and his wife couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We met Barbara, the owner, and found her to be a delight, as well. The subway sounds and feel, could possibly bother someone who was afraid of the subway or had never visited the city, but certainly didn't bother us a bit. In fact, over all , the apartment was rather quiet. The courtyard is a real bonus, with lovely plantings, and a great place for morning coffee. We highly recommend this apartment.
Myself and two friends shared this lovely apartment for just under a week in mid October. As a former NYC resident, I was excited to visit the city again and stay in my favourite neighbourhood - the west village. This apartment was incredibly convenient with two subway stations within blocks, and walking distance from many fantastic shops, restaurants and places for delicious cocktails. We definitely noticed the subway rumble, but the location, the courtyard (which we retired to every evening and were very grateful for) and the wonderful hosts in John and Luca made this a great Airbnb find. Highly recommended.
very close to everything
Clean and well equipped
Gianluca and John very helpful
We stayed here for two weeks in August and were extremely pleased. We wanted to be within walking distance of family nearby and we found the location wonderful. Great neighborhood. Subways nearby to make it easy to go up or downtown, Hudson River Park so close by to walk, picnic or bike, wonderful restaurants everywhere you look, shopping nearby. Great spot. The apt. was as advertised and very clean and John was nice and helpful. Subway vibration didn't bother us at all. Being downstairs off the courtyard eliminated any street noise and the apt was a nice oasis to come home to.
Perfect location, close to everything New York has to offer. Very homely and comfortable. Gianluca and john were helpful and happy to share ideas about places to go. A bit of train noise but you get used to it (you can't expect to stay in the centre of the city with no noise).
Great restaurants in the area and laundromat across the road are great. Subways to all over New York a short walk away. Highly recommended.
