Cape Charles Vacation Rentals
We love Cape Charles and this rental is so convenient to downtown, the park and the beach. I would highly recommend this for a large family.
Happish but not wowed.
We have been coming to Cape Charles for many years and this year we decided to share our vacation with family. Life's a Beach home was roomy and clean. We knew this is an older home so we didn't expect anything fancy or modern. However, I do have some negative impressions of the property. There were 12 people total staying for a week. If I am staying for a week I expect there to be more than one roll of toiet paper in the bathrooms ( if toilet paper is not included I want to know about it). The kitchen has a random collection of pots, pans, utensils, and no kitchen towels (again if something is not provided I want to know about it) Also, for 12 people only 8 towels were provided and asked not to launder unless absolutely nessasary (that was about three days in). I have no problem doing laundry in fact, I was very happy to see a laundry machine and dryer. But, I was quick to find out that although the washer does work fine it took me hours to dry any clothes even the smallest load (the towels took four hours). Over all we enjoyed our stay but, I don't think I would book again due to these few annoyances. I know all this is not a huge deal breaker unless, you are like me and want to vacation on vacation without extra annoyance.
Great family house
This house worked very well for our family which included all ages from a baby to grandparents. Only five blocks to the beach with free parking all along the waterfront. It was our first time in Cape Charles and we were delighted to find that the beach was toddler friendly and the water was very warm. The fishing pier was very near and my older grandson enjoyed his first attempts at fishing and crabbing. Nice town and acceptable amenities nearby. Everyone was very friendly and the renters in the other side of our duplex shared tips on places to go in the area. We really enjoyed our time at Life's A Beach and in Cape Charles.
Clean, comfortable, attractive vintage architecture
The owner/manager was responsive when we needed supplies. The tap water had a bad taste and we wanted to use the water filter but found it to be nonfunctional. Loved sitting out on the front porch and the back deck.
Clean, spacious, relaxing
This duplex was huge! Our kids had their own floor to themselves which was great! We all had space to relax and all of the attractions of the town were within walking distance. I would totally rent this property again, but I'd bring more people next time!
The Cape Charles Beach is perfect for young families. Never crowded, no big waves, shallow water close in to shore. The fishing pier is free with fishing gear rentals available in town. Jet Ski rentals at the Town Harbor. Great shops and restaurants on the main street one block away. Kiptopeke State Park with a great beach, fishing pier, boat ramps and nature trails only 6 miles away and near the Eastern Shore of Virginia Nation Wildlife Refuge also with trails and bird watching. Only 1.5 hours north is Chincoteague and the Assateague National Seashore where wild ponies (Misty of Chincoteague) roam. If you want to spend a day or two with day trips, the Virginia Beach ocean front is a little over 1 hour away with loads of shops and nightlife. Williamsburg and Busch Gardens is 80 miles and the Virginia Aquarium is about 70 minutes away. Golf: World class Bay Creek golf courses are just 5 minutes away. An hour away in Virginia Beach are numerous other golf courses.
