Seaview House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

We do offer extended stay rates. Please contact us for more information.

We invite you to come and visit any time of the year to enjoy a relaxing vacation close to the ocean in a quiet neighborhood. This nicely remodeled and furnished home is located on the Long Beach Peninsula on the SW Washington State coastline. It's a short walk to the ocean on a paved path in a pristine setting. Enjoy long walks, or drives, on the ocean beaches. There are two lighthouses close by to explore and an 8 mile paved path that parallels the ocean for biking, walking or jogging. We also have a second, two bedroom adjacent property 738238. When combined together we can accommodate larger groups.

Note: We rent the ground floor only. The upstairs is for the owner's periodic use.

Recent testimonies from our guests:

We had a lovely time staying at Hewitt House. We felt very safe during that incredible wind storm — never heard the wind whistling through and nothing shook. Your kitchen is marvelously stocked with everything a good cook needs. Thank you for all your considerations. The bright lights in the kitchen made it a favorite room for conversation and games. Perhaps some brighter lights in the other rooms would help show off the wonderful watercolor paintings and lend to easier reading for the eyes. We are watercolorists and the paintings along with a trip to Eric Weigardt’s studio was a great addition to our stay. Thank you again for providing a wonderful and affordable vacation home. And, our two greyhounds loved running in the yard.

We had a great vacation at the Hewitt House! The weather was great! We spent every day on our boat that we moored in Ilwaco, but it was sure nice to have the house to come back to. Especially with the nice back patio to BBQ on! Thank you so much. The new gas fireplace is beautiful too. Thank you again. We have great family memories to remember forever!

We loved staying at your house. No one wanted to leave! There were so many things we liked about it! My family goes to the beach about 3 times a year and we always try new houses and motels but we definitely found one that beats everything else. We look forward to staying there every time it’s available. Looks like we will be returning in October sometime if it’s not booked! It’s really great to have such a nice comfy house for such a good price. Keep it up! Thank you. Maggie – Longview, WA

Charming furnishings with many pictures by our acquaintance Charles Mulvey, comfy beds, roomy and well equipped kitchen, quiet nights, close to beach and market all combined to make our Seaview stay most enjoyable. And thanks for ordering those sunny days! Gary – Seattle, WA

We’ve just returned and had a wonderful time. It was probably so good because of your quality assurance work via requests for feedback like this email. We had no trouble finding you (we’ve stayed on the peninsula many times over many decades and your directions were very clear) and the mechanics of reservations, policies, etc were all A-OK. It was very thoughtful to have the fire starter, tinder, birch and fir. The kitchen had everything we needed, beds and seating were very comfortable and we felt right at home. Many might not care, but having the enclosed yards and the areas across the road to play with our dog was FABULOUS!

Thanks for being such good hosts—you’ll be seeing us again. All the best, Bob and Valerie

About John Brunton

We are the third generation of our family to own and operate Hewitt House vacation rentals and pride ourselves in creating a vacation atmosphere that encourages people to return year after year.

John Brunton purchased this house in 1927

Why John Brunton chose Long Beach Peninsula

The Long Beach peninsula in SW Washington State is a popular vacation destination with it's unique features of beaches that can be driven on, pristine water, beautiful forests, historic Oysterville, excellent dining opportunities, clamming, fishing/crabbing, boating, kayaking, birding, hiking and lighthouses.

What makes this house unique

This home was originally built for Portland, OR stationer, J.K. Gill as a summer home. It came into our family in 1927 and was extensively remodeled and upgraded in 1998 - 1999 by a local architect builder keeping it's original style but adding more modern conveniences.

Perfect fun in the sun destination!

  • 5 of 5

Our host's John and Dodie were very accommodating and everything you could possibly need for either a quick get-a-way or extensive stay for a relaxing stay was included. The décor vintage and tasteful and the furniture was very comfortable and clean. The home has a real family feel to it.

We look forward to visiting again in the future.

A wonderful family get away

  • 5 of 5

The Big House was just the perfect fit for the 5 of us. A wonderful retreat that I've already recommended to two different relatives. We will definitely be planning a return trip. It was a very stormy weekend but warm and cozy inside with the country kitchen where we shared meals and played games. The gas fireplace made the living room a welcoming gathering space. John was so kind to direct me that we would find the bigger house more comfortable for our get away. After too many years of not making time to visit the beach we enjoyed every minute. We arrived late on Friday and so had the pleasure of seeing the beautiful setting the next morning - the fenced yard is lovely and it's an easy and lovely walk to the beach. This is one of those places you'd recommend over and over to anyone headed to the Long Beach Peninsula - but I don't want to make them too busy so we have a spot for another trip. We all agreed we want to return for a longer stay.

Charming, Affordable, Great Location

  • 4 of 5

We visited Long Beach and were lucky to stay at the Hewitt House-Big House. Myself, my best friend, (whose birthday we were celebrating), my son and his friend (two teenage boys) and our dog made up our group. We were initially pleasantly impressed by the charm of this beautifully restored old home. Some of the pluses you get are the gas fireplace, three separate bedrooms with comfortable beds, a second bathroom with a great shower, a nice roomy well appointed kitchen with a large dining table and a laundry room (big plus for beach trips). And that's just inside! Outside you have a nice fenced yard for your dog and children, a covered back porch, a long fenced in front yard, a small lake just beyond the parking area with frogs singing in the evening and a short walk to the beach and the Discovery trail. Virtually equal distance to downtown Long Beach to the north and Illwaco to the south. The two prime areas to explore on a trip to the Long Beach penninsula. We had a wonderful birthday/Valentine weekend. If you are looking for a relaxing, private, quiet stay I recommend the Big House highly!

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

My parents, four kids, niece and I stayed at Hewitt House this past week and had a fabulous time! We were lucky to be greeted by John when we pulled up, who then proceeded to show us around. Everything was so well-explained and labeled, which made check-out a breeze. The owners thought of absolutely everything! The bathrooms were set up with plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. The kitchen had everything you would need to prepare just about any meal. The beds were great. The whole house was very inviting. It's located close to the beach and town. We can't wait to come back again!

Owner's Response: Thanks, Catherine. We appreciate the feedback and the business! We hope you also enjoyed the gas fireplace and spacious living room as well and took advantage of the Discovery Trail for hiking, biking and/or jogging. We just painted the laundry room after exposing the old bead board in keeping with the era of the home. We hope to see you back soon!
