Overview

Granby House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 12-13)

Our home is kid friendly as we have three young children of our own. My husband and I built this home about three years ago. The kitchen has granite countertops and all the necessary utensils for cooking. There is an infant crib in one of the upstairs bedrooms where there is also a full size bed (same room). The view from our home will take your breath away as soon as you walk in. It's spectacular.

There is a 'mud' room right off the garage entry for shoes and boots and jackets - as well as a closet for you to keep all your jackets. All interior doors and door frames are dark knotty alder wood, hickory flooring on main floor. Sleds in the garage for guests as well as all linens, towels etc.

One really great thing about our location is having City Market grocery store at the base of our mountain. Anything you need is just two minutes away. Including a liquor store, gas station and Starbucks.

Room/bed configuration: Main level - Master:one king bed, second bedroom:one full bed and one baby crib. Downstairs - Bedroom one: One queen bed, one twin over twin bunk bed (two twin mattresses), Bedroom two: One queen over queen bunk bed (two queen mattresses).

About Shyla McKee

We live in Berthoud Colorado just 1.5 hours away from our 'cabin' in the mountains. I am a professional photographer and designer and my husband is a builder and investor. Our children's ages are 4, 3 and 2. Yes.. you read correctly :) We are a busy family but love spending time together. Especially in Granby.

Shyla McKee purchased this house in 2006

Why Shyla McKee chose Granby

My husband built this home in 2006 and we absolutely love the area. It literally has everything to offer and we've created many wonderful memories here with family during Holidays and summers. There is something for everyone all year round in Granby. But, especially if you ski. There's trails for every level skier. Sol Vista especially attracted us because it's geared for families. They have events for children, bunny slope with the t-bar lift and people wont run your little guys over with their skis!

What makes this house unique

Beautiful home, good location with easy access to Granby, Winter Park, and Grand Lake

  • 3 of 5

Our family of 11 people had a fun week and enjoyed our stay. The 11 included a toddler, 3 children under age 9, and adults. It was great to have the crib, and the high chair provided (although upon arrival we had to do a complete clean job on the high chair - really dirty both on the tray, the seat cushion and even under the cushion). As well, at arrival the trash bins in the garage were almost full, and there was so much food and condiments left in the fridge that we had to clean out and throw away some items (several things were expired) before we could put our food in the fridge. The house had beautiful furnishings and was very comfortable for us. I think the kitchen area needs some TLC care though. The kitchen towels, and pot holders while I am sure were clean were just so old and stained that we actually went to the City Market and bought our own to use, and just take home with us. As well, there was a griddle for use, but we could not find the electric cord for it so not sure why it is even in the kitchen. I would say though if you have a large group, and you are really planning to do a lot of cooking in the kitchen and you have favorite things you cook with, bring them yourself. The area has a lot to offer for a fun stay. We were there over the July 4th holiday so our family enjoyed the parade in Granby, and the rodeo that was held in Granby that weekend was so much fun. One our grandsons had his 1st fishing experience at a lake nearby. Horseback riding, as well as going into Winter Park and doing the summer village events was probably one of the best family days we had on the vacation. A group of us also golfed at one of the courses in Granby. We drove to Grand Lake and enjoyed a day there, watching all the boats and doing fun activities they had going on for the holiday weekend. The deck off the back of the house was very enjoyable, we spent most of our evenings just relaxing and looking at the mountains from there. We would see daily up to 4 deer just roaming around close to the house, so that was exciting for our children to see. The day we left the area we drove over to Steamboat Springs to visit friends and the drive over from the Granby area was relaxing and beautiful, so this house really does sit in a nice location for easy access to many great Colorado areas. I would feel comfortable recommending this house and this location to our friends and others.

Loved the house and location. The house had everything we wanted or needed.

  • 5 of 5

We had three families in the house with children. There was plenty of room. Everyone had a place to sleep, do laundry, clean up, etc. The kids had a great time playing in the snow next to the house. The kitchen and dining area were big and supplied enough with items for us to cook with to where we did not run out. The location was great and the people in the community were extremely nice and helpful.

Great Granby Property

  • 5 of 5

This is our second year staying at this property and we could not be happier. The size is perfect for 6 adults and assorted children and the location close to Ski Granby is so convenient. The house has always been in perfect condition and the owner and their representatives have been great to work with.

This home was everything it was advertised to be.

  • 4 of 5

The home accommodated our 4 families perfectly, with a bedroom for each family and plenty of open spaces to all get together. We had 16 people come on our ski trip, ages 1-70. It really was just 3 minutes from the base lodge, so leaving the little one there with grandparents and bringing my 3 year old home for lunch and a rest was no problem. The grocery store was just a few minutes the other direction. The home was well laid out and had everything we needed. The only downside was the driveway; it is pretty steep, though not as bad as some in the area. It snowed quite a bit on the last night we were there. The truck made it out just fine, but we had to push the car. All in all, a fabulous trip. We would stay there again.

Ski vacation in Granby

  • 5 of 5

My and my friends had a great time. The house was beautiful and spacious. Communication with the owner was quick and easy as well. The best part, house is right next to the ski resort. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. If given the chance, we will definitely stay here again. Thanks again Shyla!

Nice home with great access to lots of colorado fun

  • 4 of 5

We recently had 12 people stay in this Granby home for New Years week. It was very spacious and comfortable. It had a lot for small kids including a high chair, baby gate and pack and play which all came in very handy. The home was very clean and had almost everything one could need. We cooked many meals at home and found it to be well equipped. The dining table only had 4 chairs but we found and used 4 folding chairs downs stairs so along with the bar chairs it worked great. Having a DVR was an extra touch that allowed us to watch the Rose Bowl when we couldn't see it live! The basement rooms were pretty cold. We were told not to run the upstairs fireplace for long as not to mess with the thermostat and make the basement cold. We didn't run the fireplace at all and the rooms downstairs were still very cold. Ok for adults but kinda cold for infants. The downstairs fireplace wasn't working, the pilot light was out so it wouldn't light. Our only other issue was with the driveway. We luckily had 4 wheel drives but had we not, I don't know if we could have gotton up and down the steep slope! There is not any street parking so you really do need a 4 wheel drive in the winter! Probably didn't help we were there after big snow storms and freezing temps (28 below the day we left)! The area is great. The home is super close to ski granby ranch. It is a very nice beginner/intermediate ski area and was enjoyed by all! The ski school was wonderful. The home was also close to tubing and YMCA of the Rockies where we did a sleigh ride! We saw big herds of deer right outside the home almost every day and the views were great. We loved sledding next door and enjoyed using the sleds from the home! Overall this house was great and we really enjoyed it, thanks!

Owner's Response: Happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. Sorry you had trouble with the basement fireplace. I wish you would have called because I could have explained how to use it. It is a pilotless fireplace operated by a switch on the wall. I verified that it is operational and we will adjust the instructions in hopes to prevent any future confusion. Thanks for your feedback, our goal is to provide the best accommodations as possible and through the comments and suggestions of our guests, we hope we are succeeding in doing that.

Granby has a brand new recreation center 5 minutes from our home on Hwy 40 that has literally everything that you could possibly ask for in a rec center. Childcare, lap pool, kid/splash pool, zero entry, lazy river, hot tub, basketball courts, gymnastics gym, workout facility, lap pool, sauna, steam room.... you name it! We are so excited to have this now since our kids can get bored easily.
