So the story goes . . .
In 1883 Tom Salmon obtained the entire area surrounding this property from the Crown. Then in the early 1900's the Miller family purchased the property. About 100 years later, we were lucky enough to become the new owners of what was then called, and by some locals still is, Breezy Bluffs.
(to read more about Tom Salmon, and a bit about the Miller's, see https://lakeofbays.civicweb.net/document/3336/9a_Joy_Salmon_Moon.pdf?handle=9D72B90F8B5B4C0381829C7B20D4EEDB from Lake of Bays historical records)
The Miller's also called it Breezy Point; they named their three buildings Breezy, the main cottage, Briar Patch and Three Bears, both smaller secondary cottages.
The story goes that the original Breezy had become old and tired and it was too expensive to repair. So it was burned down as a fire department exercise in the late 1970's. The current Breezy was then built in 1980. We found some old letters from Donny Miller (who was one of the 'two teenaged sons' listed in the historical document listed above) and his wife to the contractor, and how excited they were to build this new cottage.
Three Bears has been there for close to 100 years. Over the years many parts have been replaced, but there are still some original floorboards that can be seen from the basement. In the late 1970's Three Bears was lifted up and the current enclosed winterized basement was installed.
Briar Patch was also built in the late 1970's. It's predecessor was much closer to the lake, near the current location of the dock and supposedly was the art studio of Donny's mother.

Highly Recommend the Breezy!
Our extended family (including toddlers and babies) stayed at the Breezy in August 2010. The cottages are beautiful, extremely well maintained, and exceptionally clean. Each cottage has a beautiful deck to sit out on. The main cottage has been totally renovated and has all the comforts of home. The Breezy property is large, private, has a long lake front, and incredible views. Lake of Bays is a beautiful lake and we had no problem docking our boat at the cottage dock. The toddlers liked the small sandy beach and you can walk out about 20-25 feet before the water is deep. This cottage was better than advertised and we would highly recommend it to any family. We will be back next year - and the years after that!
