Oregon’s outdoor recreational amenities are just minutes away from this spectacular vacation home situated in a magnificent wilderness setting of the Diamond Peaks development area located near Crescent and Odell lakes/resorts and Willamette Pass Ski Resort. Perfect for those who love fishing nearby lakes. Hike, bike, ski, snowshoe, and snowmobile right from the cabin.
This is the perfect place to spend with family and friends, or to experience a quiet romantic get-away. The cabin features three bedrooms and a loft, and 2 full baths to accommodate up to 7 guests in beds. For larger groups, the detached bonus room apartment with bathroom above the garage (sleeps four in beds - king, twin, dbl futon couch) may be included in the rental of the cabin, making this addition appealing to multiple families, grandparents, or friends wanting their own beds and extra full bath. (Add $25/night to the standard rate to include the bonus room and 3rd bath, see amenities below full full description)
From the cabin, enjoy beautiful mountain views and bird-watching while sitting in front of a cozy fire or sunning on the deck. A selection of books, video/DVD movies, and games are available, including a Sony Playstation and Wii, plus video games. DirectTV and free Wi-Fi Internet access is also available. The cabin was built in 2006 and features vaulted ceilings, a great-room, and well-appointed furnishings to reflect the Oregon outdoors.
A 10-minute drive gets you to Crescent or Odell lakes, or the Willamette Pass Ski Resort for winter downhill & XC skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, and snowboarding; and gondola rides, mountain biking, and disc golf in the summer. Oregon's famed Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort is within an hour's drive.(During the winter snow season, the roads are plowed for easy access.) Paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking are also favorite warm-weather pastimes for those who love the outdoors and enjoy the Central Oregon Cascades.
At Crescent Lake and Odell Lake, anglers will find Kokanee, Mackinaw, German Browns and Rainbows. Large-mouth bass and Rainbows can easily be caught at nearby Davis Lake; trout and Kokanee at Crane Prairie, both only a 20 to 30 minute drive from the cabin. Fishing guides are available at the lake lodges, as well as gear and boat rentals. As the weather warms, the lakes are perfect for picnicking on the sandy beaches of Crescent Lake, or for enjoying a scenic hike along the shore of Odell Lake. The Pacific Crest Trail and other National Forest hiking trails are within 10-minutes of the cabin. Within an hour’s drive, you can enjoy Sunriver Resort (golfing, biking, canoeing/kayaking, shopping), Mt. Bachelor (world class slopes for skiing and snowboarding), the city of Bend (shopping) for more recreational fun, Diamond Lake (45-min drive) and the 'must-see' Crater Lake National Park (1-hr drive).

We (Bob and Carrie) love the outdoors (fishing, skiing, biking, hiking, etc.) and found the perfect vacation home from which to enjoy our favorite recreational activities.
Carrie Matsushita Bumstead purchased this house in 2009
The Oregon Cascades is a true gem. Snowmobiling, snowshoeing, downhill and cross-country skiing are terrific with access to National Forest Trails and both Willamette Pass Ski Resort and Mt. Bachelor. Roads are plowed in the winter for safe travel, and spring, summer, and fall, are picture-perfect for visiting Central Oregon’s beautiful lakes for hiking and fishing. The Pacific Crest Trail is only minutes away and offers hikes through beautiful forests and to nearby lakes. Crater Lake National Park and Diamond Lake are only an hour away, and there are about 10 lakes within a 10-mile radius. It’s the perfect getaway anytime of the year.
We often invite friends and family to spend time at the cabin. It works well for both large and small groups, as the open floor plan offers plenty of space for everyone. When it's just the two of us, the cabin serves as a cozy getaway from urban life. While at the cabin, it's always nice to return from a fun day recreating outdoors to a cozy fire, a glass of wine, and good company.
I couldn't possibly tell you in words what a marvelous time we had. Everything was perfect! I love to cook and the kitchen was so well stocked with every dish and utensil that I'm accustomed to using at home.... even the Ninja Turtle magnets where a reminder of our favorite Saturday cartoons and movies. Seriously my oldest asked if I had brought them lol.
God Bless and thanks again for opening up your home to us.
This is the third time that my extended family has all come to stay at the cabin, but the first summer visit. We had a great time, as usual. Carrie and Bob provide countless thoughtful touches around the house that make it feel comfortable and home-like. This time, we especially liked lounging on the deck in the comfy chairs, and driving over to Davis Lake for some fishing. Thanks again for your hospitality!
Great cabin. Couldn't ask for anything more. Bonus room is a must!
We had 4 couples stay at the place comfortably. Great TV to watch the Super Bowl. Our trip was for snowmobiling. We had hoped to ride from the property, but due to the low snow conditions we were able to do some nice rides by driving to some of the local snowparks. It is nice to each have our own bedrooms. Very well equipped and set up for our sized group.
The house was great for us to gather our 3 children and their families. Even though we didn't have snow we made a jigsaw puzzle, cooked meals in the well-stocked kitchen and explored the area.
The open design contributed to our together time but the loft and room above the garage allowed us privacy as well. The views are outstanding. Overall, it is a place that allowed us to relax as a family.
This was our family's first stay at Bummy's Place (there's a wonderful story behind the name). With 6 adults and 3 kids (8, 10 and 1-1/2 year old), there was plenty of space for all of us. We rented the house + above garage apartment so us grandparents had privacy and quite space for naps.
We had mentioned that we were spending a late Christmas together at the cabin and when we arrived in the evening the cabin was lit up in holiday lights and inside there was a Christmas tree and holiday decorations around the room. We all gathered our gifts around the tree, made hot apple cider and spent a wonderful evening around the fire place opening gifts. Magical!
The house is well stocked, cozy and beautiful. The open kitchen with island made it super easy for family members to cook together and the long dining table accommodated all of us at meal time. The table was perfect for board games, drawing, and reading and at times all at once.
Though, there wasn't much snow for us the kids were still able to get some sledding in (sleds were available). Everyone really enjoyed bird watching from the dining and living room windows and the 8 year old found the bird book and proceeded to identify every bird that arrived on the feeder or suet.
The information sheet that we were given beforehand was really helpful and thorough with info about the cabin and it's surrounding area. Directions were clear and precise and the owners very nice and friendly.
The only thing I would recommend if you plan on bringing a little one is to bring outlet covers and a baby gate for the stairs. We brought both and it made our stay less worrisome. The house was pretty much baby proofed with only a handful of small items that we could easily put on a higher shelf. Oh and one last thing, the glass on the fireplace gets hot so we only had fires after the little tyke was in bed for the night.
Overall, our stay was fantastic and we'd love to do this again!
Thank you for the memories!
This was a great house to rent. We've rented houses on VRBO in the past and this is by far the best house we've rented. Very well stocked kitchen, roomy, comfortable and relaxing. It was a good location for us as we had a family reunion at Odell Lake. Thanks so much hopefully we'll be back soon.
