Be smart! Many of the new listings in Pasadena are owned by folks who really just want your money. We own several vacation rentals listed on VRBO and have years of experience making our clients happy. Read the reviews and look at the maps. Many other properties listed here aren't actually in Pasadena. And most are not very close to Old Pasadena. Our properties are right where you want to be!

This historic purpose-built triplex offers three distinct options in the heart of Pasadena's most famous neighborhood. The Standard at Waverly Green is a spacious ground-floor unit featuring antiques and contemporary furnishings in a modern playful mix. It has two generously scaled bedrooms both with queen size beds a newly renovated luxury bath and separate powder room. This upscale property features high quality bedding, pillows and comforters, a fully appointed vintage style kitchen with all the goodies, formal dining room and a flat screen TV with Uverse and WiFi Internet Access. Vast gardens, mature shade trees, and inviting outdoor spaces complete the scene.

Just one block from Wrigley Mansion and the Tournament of Roses House, the property is within the Rose Parade formation area and a short stroll to the shops and vibrant nightlife of Old Town Pasadena, Brookside Park and golf course, and the Rose Bowl. Your private retreat features dramatic views of the skyline and majestic San Gabriel Mountains and the valley beyond.

Enjoy all the excitement of Pasadena’s venerable Old Town neighborhood in a location central to the entire Los Angeles basin. Waverly Green is less than 10 miles from Downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, Studio City and the Burbank Studios. All of which can be accessed by easy connections with the Metro Gold Line or by car on the famous local freeways system.

50% deposit is due with the reservation. Your initial deposit is fully refundable up to 60 days before check-in dates. A $200 security deposit and all fees for the rental are due 30 days prior to Check-in date.

Waverly Green was constructed in 1946 and exhibits the attributes of the time: original double-hung picture frame windows, classic molding, period detailing, warm hardwoods and ceramic tile flooring. All of the main systems, like plumbing and air conditioning, have been upgraded to today’s standards.

With the charm and character of the period comes the personality of an older home: creaking floors and the patina of timeworn wood and painted surfaces. We believe that this charm adds to the livability of the space and is not considered to be problematic. Adding to the effect are antiques and art objects from around the world. If you like your curtains to match the bedspread, you might want to stay in a guestroom at one of the many local commercial hotels. Waverly Green is a self catering unit. Not appropriate for young children.

About John Matthes

A transplant to Pasadena from San Diego, John relocated in 1989 to attend Art Center College of Design where he was awarded a Master's of Fine Art degree.

John is an expert in marketing historic and architectural properties and holds his fiduciary responsibility to his clients in the utmost regard. With real world experience as the founder and principal of Carciofi and Jinglehyme, he successfully united residential real estate development and interior design; bringing revitalization to local neighborhoods and blighted historic properties through thoughtful renovation and redevelopment. He also owns and manages short term vacation rentals in Pasadena and Sea Ranch.

John's prior tenure in the marketing and communications wing of the global institutional investing giant The Capital Group Companies, allowed him to develop broad knowledge of printed and digital media. With this knowledge, he has developed sophisticated marketing tools and programs for selling homes in all economic climates.

A long term resident of the Arroyo, John currently resides in Linda Vista and has had stake in properties located in Prospect Park, San Rafael, South Orange Grove, South Lake, Eagle Rock and now The Sea Ranch. He is an active member Pasadena Heritage and The Legacy Circle, a group of Art Center alumni dedicated to raising funds for student scholarships.

A Great Find

We really enjoyed our three-night stay at John's place. Everything about the apartment was perfect - clean, well-equipped, pleasantly furnished, a wonderful backyard, ideal location and a lovely, quiet neighborhood. We were in walking distance of the Norton Simon Museum and the Wrigley mansion (headquarters for the Tournament of Roses) and a very short drive to downtown Old Pasadena. John was extremely prompt in answering two messages I had sent before our trip and returned our cleaning deposit the day after our departure. This is a wonderful and very relaxing place to stay if you are in the Pasadena area.

'Our stay in CA

The apt was nicely located. and was well maintained. We enjoyed the landscapiing and the back yard.. We missed having an iron and a blow dryer.

Clean, nice character, good location

This was the second time I've stayed at the Standard. Very clean and well-appointed. Working Wi-fi, good beds, nice linens, well equipped kitchen. enjoyed sitting out on the patio having morning coffee, watching the finches and wild parrots, and in the evening , enjoying wine and conversation. Great location. Can walk to the Norton Simon. We didn't, but you could probably walk to the Gamble House. There's a nearby market and easy freeway access. Would definitely stay here again.

A Wonderful Place to Stay

My wife and I have stayed at this property before and I am sure we will be back. It is an impressive property in a up-scale neighborhood in a beautiful section of Pasadena. It is an easy walk to downtown Pasadena which makes it a very convenient place to stay. The units are furnished very nicely, and both my wife and I feel very much at home here. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and there is even a nice backyard full of flowering shrubs and plants where you can relax on the patio furniture. The owner is very nice and responsive, and it is obvious that he takes meticulous care of this property. We cannot imagine staying any where else when we visit Pasadena. We highly recommend the Standard at Waverly Green.

The Standard at Waverly Green

The Standard at Waverly Green is a large two bedroom, one and a half bath unit that is well furnished and clean. The beautiful gardens and patio areas make for a relaxing experience. This was the second year that my wife and I spent January and February at the Standard and we highly recommend it for a vacation destination whether for a few days or for a longer stay. Its location to Old Town Pasadena make dining and shopping very convenient. The owners are very nice and respond quickly to any question that may arise.

Great Property, and great location

Spend Christmas at Waverly Green, with our son while visiting our other son who live in Pasadena. had a great time, the condo was great, very close to our son, and downtown Olp Pasadena. would recommend this property to anyone visiting Pasadena. My only recommendation would be to have a small stand or table in main bathroom, and also one next to the stove in the kitchen. We would definitely stay at Waverly Green on our next visit.
