Why Margene Patrick chose Valle Crucis

We built our log cabin after numerous trips to the mountains. The scenery, weather, activities, and restaurants offered the perfect, restful, get-away for us. Our children loved the area and always found plenty of things to do.

What makes this cabin unique

We looked all over the mountains before deciding on where to purchase a lot. We were always pulled in the direction of Valle Crucis. The vintage setting and the close proximity to nearby towns was a major factor in our location pick.

Perfect mountain cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in the cabin. Great floor plan and beautiful views. House was very clean when we arrived. Very convenient to all the fun places in and around Boone. My grandchildren loved the mountain behind the house and climbed it several times daily. Saw 3 deer the first day we were there. I would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful, hidden location and spotlessly clean

  • 4 of 5

Description should let renters know in ADVANCE that there is no air conditioning, but would only be needed a few days a year. We hit 85-90 degree weather. Also, in ADVANCE that "You will need to bring your own linens, towels...You will need to bring your own paper towels, toilet paper, soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent and cleaning supplies, etc." The cabin is well decorated and very comfortable. As you need to bring linens, towels etc, it is better suited for a longer stay. A lot of work for two nights.

Having said that, we would definitely stay again and it's in a beautiful area and well furnished, decorated and appointed.

Everything was great

  • 5 of 5

We did a couples weekend to go snow tubing.... Although the weather was not the most cooperative at the slopes, we still had a great time at the cabin. The walls were a little thin, like other cabins we stayed at, but the 4 bedrooms and 3 baths gave us plenty of room to not feel like we were on to of each other. And, the game room downstairs was a nice bonus.

Girls Wilderness Getaway Success!

  • 5 of 5

This was a last minute rental for a bachelorette getaway that was a bit off the beaten path. The cabin turned out to be exactly what we were looking for.

The drive up the mountain was a little intimidating for 8 Florida girls in a minivan, but if we were able to make it - anyone can. When we arrived we were extremely pleased to find that the cabin was exactly as described on HomeAway. It was well kept, clean, and cozy. It was secluded enough to feel very private, but not too far from the comforts of home. The cabin has a full kitchen - fridge, microwave, oven, toaster, and dishwasher. Although WiFi was available, we had a really hard time getting and staying connected. Our cell reception was also quite limited. Margene did leave a phone number for their internet provider, but we took this opportunity to stay 'unplugged' for the weekend and just enjoy our surroundings.

We enjoyed the wonderful views from the patio every morning and evening. The tranquil and relaxing atmosphere was a nice (and welcomed) change of pace from our regular routines. We were even lucky enough to see a few family of deer, chipmunks, rabbits, and hummingbirds.

Our group found plenty of things to do within just half an hour to an hour from the cabin: hiking, zip lining, rafting, shopping, and even an amusement park. There is literally something for everyone.

We're giving this cabin a 5 star rating because it was everything we wanted and more. Margene was easily reachable whenever we had a question, the cabin was great, and the surrounding areas were awesome.

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, the Owls Roost is the place for you.

Owl's Roost

  • 5 of 5

The owners were very helpful in every way. The house was amazing, with beautiful views all around, tiny little trinkets that complemented the owl theme. Plenty of room for a big family and friends! Will be staying here again next year.
