Great value for Historic District
Four of us stayed for four nights, greatly enjoyed Savannah. We spend a lot of time at the Annabelle, and found it to be very nice,, well appointed, and comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed, which was important given we decided to eat in for breakfast and dinner. The house was built in 1895, and has been updated, though it has original floors, stairway, exterior, etc, which we loved. It’s very comfy and more than adequate in terms of space, privacy, the outdoor patio, etc.,. The beds were comfortable. The patio was great to have as we spent a lot of time relaxing and chatting when we arrived back after sightseeing. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. Also, free parking was a big benefit. If you are looking for a newer, very modern place, this is not it, but it has all the comforts of home, it’s clean, and it’s a wonderful space. The WiFi, TV, appliances, etc, all worked well. A gem, especially at the price, in the historic district.
Charming home in great location
This is a great base from which to explore Savannah; as first timers to the city we had no idea how perfect this spot would be! Right on edge of historical district, so within walking distance of everything, but a beautiful quiet street. Comfy beds, lovely outdoor table/private patio to enjoy the fine weather, and owners who are VERY responsive to questions, etc.
A great home base!
Everything was perfect: the location, the ambiance, the comfortable beds, etc. Very accommodating hosts. Couldn't have wished for anything else.
The house is very cozy. Flowers on the table was a nice surprise. Considering, I love flowers. The location was great. Within walking distance of much of the city. And the owners are very nice. And we enjoyed the pictures on the wall. My favorite item in the kitchen was the cast iron skillet. The kitchen was better stocked with cooking utensils than I thought it would be. Again, the house is very comfortable. We would stay there again.
We loved the quaint area and the house!
There are absolutely no complaints about the house. The only suggestion I would make is the need of a new couch. We spend most of the evenings in the house, chatting or watching TV, and we all felt that the couch without support pillows is not good for your back. Besides this, everything was great.
Not what we thought
Didn't feel the house met the image as described with being remodeled or on location. There was an odor in the downstairs bathroom that you could smell throughout the house. Our family would not stay again.
That is very odd! There has never been an odor in the past and there isn't one now. If there was an issue You could have contacted the property manager, we left a number. Our house was built in 1864 and has been updated twice since 2009 and we try to maintain some of its original charm. No idea why location is an issue?? Jones St is the most prestigious street in the historic district. Your review is not on target. Thank you for your stay.
This lovely two-story town house was built in 1885 for Annabella Roberston during the railroad days of Savannah. It was recently restored by the owner/local artist. The Annabelle is located on Jones St., considered the prettiest street in Savannah; beautiful century old, moss-covered live oaks, cobble stone streets and historic homes. It is close to Whitfield and Troup squares, easy walking distance to Forsyth park, River street, restaurants and shopping.
The house has been completely restored and maintains its' original hardwood floors, soaring ceilings, decorative fireplaces, and architectural details. The Annabelle features modern living with historic charm. It is tastefully decorated with art work by the owner and other local artists. The property has a secluded courtyard and private off street parking. The Living area has a full-size sleeper sofa, 32' flatscreen TV and a DVD/CD, assorted movies, music and books related to Savannah. It is appointed with art by owner, other local artists and antiques providing the comforts of home. A dining room offers a Duncan Phyfe mahogany table with ample seating for six, well stocked china cabinet for happy hour or dining needs. The kitchen is modern and features a stainless steel flat top stove, d/w, full size refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, stainless steel cookware, plus spices, coffees and teas. This has everything you need from the basic cook to the discriminating chef.
A bath/laundry room is situated on the first floor and offers a custom marble shower plus a full size washer/dryer.
Our master suite is artfully decorated with oil paintings depicting trees of Cumberland Island, a favorite retreat of the artist/owner. It features handsome pine furniture, comfortable queen size bed for a restful sleep, oversized dresser, TV, clock radio and 100% cotton linens for a restful sleep.
A second bedroom is tastefully appointed with 1920's Art Deco furniture. This attractive room features both a Full size and Twin size bed, with dresser and closet.
The upper floor bath features a restored claw foot tub with shower, custom made marble shelf with mirror to prepare for your night out on the town. Towels and soap products are provided to all our guests.
A beautiful wrap around stairwell, restored by the owner/artist, welcomes you to the graciousness of this town house.
