Do it all or do nothing at all but do come & enjoy! We’d love to have you!
In the 1800's, the folks who owned it did cotton farming. It was later purchased by a doctor who took two old houses and sistered them together. Original ceilings still remain in the dining room, living room and grand hall.
Years later, a lovely gentleman who was a structural engineer bought it and remodeled it, adding on two bedrooms with private bathrooms.
After looking for several years for just such a place, we knew we had found it the moment we walked on the land. We fell in love with the whole place & you will, too! We did some updating ourselves by taking in the large utility room adjacent to the kitchen, thus allowing us to create a huge country kitchen with 11 foot pine top island for family and friends to gather and keep the cook company. We added two farmhouse sinks and a stove any chef would be proud of as well as the updated dishwasher, refrigerator with ice maker, and a microwave. Then came a luxury bathroom with air- jetted tub in the master suite. A sitting room was created in the master suite from what was once an enclosed porch. Over the last few years, we added a stone fireplace in the large family room, enlarged the back deck, and added a 20 X 20 pavilion down by the spring fed pond.
Do come! You’ll love it!
Skip and I traveled all over looking for a beautiful setting to retire to one day. We fell in love with this place and feel blessed to share it with others.
It feels so calm & peaceful here. A great place to get away from the city. But although it's out in the country, it is easy to get to and from town and HEB in Brenham is less than 10 minutes away! There's even a Starbucks right off 290 & 36 by Walmart.
We love the gracious feel of the farmhouse & it's setting among large oak trees. The 11' island in the kitchen is a great place to gather while you cook on the Wolf stove. Outdoor areas to relax are plentiful and there is usually a lovely breeze to enjoy. Our 5 acre pond is spring fed and has had plenty of water even during the worst of the drought. Now we have an in-ground pool that really is great in the summer heat!
Hi Jo (and Harry)! Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your LOVELY home in the hill country! The accommodations were just perfect for us and the setting was absolutely breathtaking!I hope you do get a chance to retire there one day soon...it's definitely a little slice of paradise. It's impossible not to believe in God when you see such beauty!Take care, Shelly
We are a group of 50+ year old women. We have been renting homes 2 times a year for the past 5 years for our semi annual getaways. We ALL loved this home and the peaceful property it sits on. We loved sitting on the porch in your rockers just passing the evening away and watching the beautiful sunsets. We've never rented a home that had everything we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked and was a delight for our cooks to prepare our meals using the upscale appliances and cookware.
The bedding is awesome and not one of us had a complaint, and that's really saying something, considering we are all women!!!
We plan to make this our forever "get away" home and have already rented it for our September stay.
Jo and Skip are wonderful to work with too. They were a big help with answering all of our questions.
This home is so peaceful and relaxing. I would recommend it to anyone.
My family stayed at this lovely home for 5 days at the end of the summer. I can only describe our time there as idyllic. The property was lovely with a gentle breeze and gorgeous views all around. What a breath of fresh air for us. We had a toddler and a tween with us and my father stayed one night as well. It was perfect for all ages. My husband commuted to and from Houston/Galleria area each day. The feel of the home is so quiet and peaceful. It was impeccably clean and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We enjoyed the pool, the movie room, the toys, the baby birds on the front porch, and the grounds immensely. The stars at night were unbelievable. We could see the milky way from the back yard! The beauty brought tears to our eyes. I can't wait to return.
LABOR DAY WEEKEND, 2015. THE "GRANDGIRLS", AGES 9, 11 & 12 ESPECIALLY ENJOYED THE POOL AND FISHING IN THE POND---EVEN CAUGHT A FISH. WITH SO MANY PLACES OUTDOORS TO SIT AND RELAX, (THE LARGE DECK, THE WRAP-A-ROUND PORCH, SWING OR LOUNGE CHAIRS UNDER THE TREES) WE SPENT A LOT OF TIME OUTSIDE. THE WHOLE GANG ENJOYED WATCHING THE AGGIES ON THE HUGE TV SCREEN AND VERY IMPORTANTLY, THE BEDS WERE COMFORTABLE. THE HOUSE WAS SPACIOUS ENOUGH TO ACCOMMODATE OUR LARGE FAMILY AND GAVE US PLENTY OF TIME TO CATCH UP ON ONE ANOTHER'S LIVES. MEALS WERE EASY TO PREPARE IN THE WELL-STOCKED KITCHEN. SKIP AND JO EVEN LEFT US A HALF GALON OF BLUE BELL. OVERALL, IT WAS A GREAT HOME-AWAY FROM HOME.
We stayed for 5 days along with two grandsons and our grown daughter. It was wonderful and relaxing. The boys enjoyed everything about the property. We went to Round Top fo a great day of shopping and eating. Kids went to Blue Bell (of course) and to a farm. They loved the pool. I must say my favorite thing was the wonderful birds that were nested on the porch. Every morning I sat on the porch, watched the mist rolling in across the pasture, and spent time with those wonderful birds. We love to cook so my daughter and I truly enjoyed the wonderful kitchen. When we started to leave, our younger grandson cried and did not want to leave! Every weekend he is still asking when he can go back to the "yellow" house. Looks like a future booking will happen.
We spent Memorial Weekend at the Farm House, the house along with the scenery was absolutely perfect. We had four families stay here and he house was fully stocked with everything we needed. The kids had plenty of things to keep them entertained. We are already booking our return.
Everything was perfect. Pie and ice cream
when we arrived. Skip met us and showed us the house. Spotless and everything we needed for a wonderful stay. Already planning a return trip.
Close to Brenham, Round Top, Chappell Hill, Warrenton, and a pleasant drive to Austin or College Station.
