This property is a one-of-a-kind natural Hawaiian gem. If you are looking for nightlife and wave-runners, you should stay on Waikiki, but if you want a breathtaking, off-the-beaten path, quiet, unspoiled and natural slice of old Hawaii, this place is perfect for you. It was for us. Extensive private backyard snorkeling, kayaking, sea turtles, and unbeatable sunrises. Fresh and organic market and a farmer's market in nearby Pahoa. Absolutely unforgettable.
The house and the location was perfect for our family reunion/50th Birthday party. We enjoyed the ponds in front of the house, the flying fish, the many turtles, the kayaks and my son got tremendous use out of the private basketball court!
We rented this home with 3 other couples. It was awesome!!! It provided privacy for each couple as well as a common meeting place to hang out. The house is gorgeous, and sit on an amazing piece of property. The property manager was super easy to work with, and even accommodated our ridiculous check int time, 11PM. We would definitely rent this place again!!
Beautiful is an understatement! This property was everything we thought it would be - and so much more! My (now) husband and I wanted to have our wedding and reception on the property with just our immediate family members and the owners and property manager were SO accommodating. I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful and private location than this. Not to mention, the famous Red Road is nearby and made for some amazing wedding pictures!
The setting is gorgeous - it's located right next to a series of ponds with loads of beautiful, tropical fish and surrounded by tropical trees, some of them growing fruit that they graciously allowed us to try. Beyond the ponds is a rock wall, and beyond that is the ocean. Watching the sunrise every morning was so magical! I have truly never stayed in such a beautiful place.
We can't thank the owners and the property manager enough for making our big day and our family vacation so special and unique. Everyone is still talking about how much they'd love to go back!
This property was perfect for our family, every day was a new experience . This is true paradise. We felt blessed to be here , and experience to beautiful sunrise every morning, swim with the sea turtles and tropical fish, take a walk in the Comunity , ride our bikes, and relax every evening with the vast ocean view. This is perfect paradise . Thank you grant for all your help when we had questions . We hope to return some day !
Mahalo! The Larsson family
We had a marvelous 5 nights at this gorgeous property. The setting is spectacular -- it’s literally right on a collection of ponds and inlets, with kayaking and snorkeling available literally at your feet. The property itself is beautiful and in excellent condition, filled with beautiful Indonesian wood furniture, and the setting is quite private.
We were two families with teen children traveling together, and we had a marvelous time sitting on the beautiful balconies staring at the ocean, snorkeling in the pond, watching the puffer fish get fed, and taking excursions to nearby tide pools, farmer’s markets, towns, as well as venturing out for zip lining, and hiking in volcano national park. We divided our Big Island stay between this property and a hotel on the Kona side, and we loved the mixture of sights and experiences, but this property definitely won the ‘specialness’ award.
The kitchen was equipped for all basic cooking needs, and there’s a nice outdoor grill which we put to use. The master suite is gorgeous. There are two other bedrooms upstairs that share a bathroom, one with a queen bed and one with twins. The bathroom they share is spacious, though has only one sink. Downstairs, there’s a separate room with twins, and a fully-plumbed outdoor bathroom (quite luxurious, though not fully waterproof in the rain, and to get there requires walking 20 feet outdoors). Wifi was a little slow (for all 8 of us) but that kept us from being tethered to our devices. The property was very clean, and there were plenty of towels and an assortment of snorkeling equipment to borrow (though for our group of 8, a couple more snorkels would have been a plus). The ceiling fans kept everything cool and comfortable
There’s lots to do within a 30 minute drive, but depending on what you’re looking for, it could be a little remote -- there’s not anywhere to walk to to grab a coffee or a meal. The nearest town is Pahoa, about 15 minutes away, and Hilo is about another 25-30 minutes beyond that. But it’s a fabulous base for both exploring and for relaxing and enjoying the views and the water, and it’s a truly memorable, gorgeous property.
