Privacy and quiet , the wild life and water birds are fantastic.
This was one of the nicest get-aways I've ever experienced. While the listing was wholly accurate, nothing could have prepared me for how incredible this property actually was. We found privacy in layers: both within the spacious bungalow in its relation to the main property, as well as the geographical location and the sense of calm we got from being right there on the shore of the Long Island Sound. The surrounding town is rich with history and is particularly a must-see for architecture lovers. Our hosts took us on a walking tour of the neighborhood and the countryside and simply put, they were so warm and hospitable, they were our friends by the time we left. I highly recommend this rental for anyone--especially if you live in the city and need even a short respite. I will undoubtedly rebook with them.
We rated it a four star but the kids said "Give them a 10" :-)
The owners were very nice and made us feel very welcomed. Even though it was March we sat on the beach and relaxed while the children explored. It is a really nice private spot and the views of the Thimble Islands are wonderful!! We can't wait to do it again!!
The Bungalow was all New England. I was born and raised a couple of towns over and have lived in Texas for nearly 40 years. I enjoyed the scenic view of the Thimble Islands and the lovely sunsets from the back porch. The radiant heat flooring in the bathroom was a definite plus. The bed was very comfortable and the amenities were more than one could ask for. I enjoyed myself thoroughly and Jennifer and Jim were wonderful hosts. I went alone and had plenty of relaxation time when I wanted it. There lots of things to do and absolutely beautiful Fall foliage was out. I had some fresh Macintosh apples sent to my home in Texas from Bishops Orchards just down the road. This is a great spot for two or three family members or a couples retreat. You definitely don't want to miss it. It is on my list of places to return to next time I travel to New England.
This bungalow location is paradise. Upon arrival, I said, "WOW". We had our private location seaside with the magical views of the thimble islands. Jennifer and her family were away when we arrived, so we had the place to ourselves for the 1st day, which was delightful. We watched a full moon rise above the sea. Wow.
The bungalow itself was very clean and tidy with all of the details taken care of. Jennifer and her family were friendly and promised to "stay out of our way" while we enjoyed their property. That said, if you are someone looking for absolute privacy, this may not be the location for you since the bungalow adjoins their home and people do come and go.
That said, it's worth the stay. We had access to kayaks, a private beach & dock, beach toys (our 6 yr. old daughter loved it!), frisbees, and even a crouqet set! The bungalow provided adequate space for our family of 3.
One note on a bedding issue: We did encounter very firm beds (they seemed a bit old). Jennifer received this information from me with no defenses. She said they will likely get new mattresses and was happy I reported it to her.
Enjoy your stay here. I'll always fondly remember it, and I recommend this property with no hesitation.
Dear Jennifer and Jim,
Sometimes a special event calls for a special place to stay. We certainly found it! Not only did the three of us find such pleasure in your house and grounds, but we were also joined for a very brief hour by our daughter and her two children. The three year old made a beeline to the beach of course. Many pictures were sent back home to family who immediately wanted to move to the area. It is gorgeous.
I choose this property as a place to spend the first week of our honeymoon and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The seclusion and romanticism of the place, the Thimbles and the landshare were wonderful. Thank you Jennifer and Jim for a truly wonderful experience.
