Nestled in the lush Poipu Kai Resort, in the Lanai Villas neighborhood, this pristine L-shaped home and detached garage create an intimate courtyard area with lawn and patio. The Hawaiian themed home includes an abundance of modern conveniences: flat screen TVs, DVD/Blu-Ray players, fast wireless, iPod docking appliances and beds that provide a good night of sleep.
From your doorstep, it’s a gorgeous 3 minute walk to Shipwreck’s Beach/Grand Hyatt Resort & Spa with its many shops, restaurants and lounges. Take a 5-10 minute stroll in the opposite direction on the well maintained greenbelt pathway to beautiful Brennecke’s and Poipu Beaches, with tennis (additional charge), pool and hot tub along the way.
Take advantage of this convenient location plus the property's boogie boards, beach accessories, and amenities (like central air conditioning) for a relaxing & adventurous vacation.
This house was perfect for us! We were traveling as 2 couples and the lay out if the house was excellent to allow us both to have our privacy fir the week and a half we were on Kauai. The location was also excellent within walking distance to 2 great beaches. The neighborhood was quiet and the house was so clean and had everything we needed for cooking or for heading to the beach! We would stay in this rental again and recommend it to our friends!!
I would highly recommend this house for its location to the hyatt. We would stay at this location again! The non master rooms are a little bit small.
We came back to Kauai this Sept and enjoyed ourselves so much! We also stayed at Shells in November of 2012 and January of 2011. We stayed there as a family and another time it was just us girls. The place was perfect for both.
I loved being in a house rather than a condo with the spacious living area inside and the backyard with flowering tress and barbecue all to ourselves. The house had everything we needed and was neat and clean.
My favorite thing was the open floor plan in the living area with glass all around. I just loved opening the blinds in the morning to look out on the lush greenbelt and the beauty that Kauai is!
Another favorite thing is the houses accessibility to the beach, restaurants and great walking or hiking paths. You can take a morning walk on Shipwreck Beach in front of the Hyatt. Kids love to look in the tidepools there. The undertow is quite strong, however. Past the beach is a path, leading up the bluff, a great place to watch the sunrise (gorgeous!) or continue on a hike up the coast. Taking the path the other way, you can often see local fishermen on the rocks.
When you go out to the green belt and take a left on the path,it will lead you down to Poipu beach which is a great place to spend the day or watch the sun go down. Brennekes Restaurant, a little further down that road, is an affordable place to dine and watch the sunset
If you take a short car ride down the road, and go to the right side of the Beach House Restaurant, you'll come to a great snorkel spot. It's my favorite because the reef is so close to shore with lots of fish and some turtles.
I would recommend this place and I will return here, hopefully soon!
We stayed at Shells last month and had a wonderful time. The house exceeded my expectations and provided a wonderful place to stay for our vacation. It is located in a great area next to the ocean and adjacent to a greenbelt walking path (right out the back of the house). The walking path could take you to the beach and to some fun hiking areas or it could take you to the pool and tennis court areas (maybe 5 minutes). We also walked to some restaurants from the house but it might be little long for some people.
The Hyatt right next door has a starbucks so some mornings we walked to the Hyatt along the path and enjoyed a coffee on the patio.
The house was bright, cheerful and open. We found everything we needed to enjoy our vacation from kitchen utensils to beach stuff and towels to books and DVDs and games for kids. The place was very well stocked.
The floorplan is excellent if you're traveling with other people or family members. The big master suite is on one side of the house and the two other bedrooms and bath were on the other side for just enough privacy.
We loved hanging out in the courtyard with the small deck and barbeque. I loved just pulling out the chaise lounge chairs, grabbing a book and a cold drink and spending the afternoon in the quiet yard that is enclosed and cannot be seen from the road side or the greenbelt side-nice!
Thanks for such a nice house in such great condition!
I just return from a 6 night stay at the house, Shells at Poipu. It was a family vacation for 3 sisters and my grown son. The house was spacious and we had plenty of room. This house is so well stocked, I would recommend getting there before doing your shopping. It may have what you need. There is a large communal container of things that past guests have left behind. We used some of those items as well as left some of our items behind. If you need it-this house probably has it.
All the appliances are of top quality with a great washer and dryer.
If you head in one direction on the path in front of the house you get to a great beach view within a short walk. The pool is in the other direction. It was very crowed. It is part of a condominium complex that seems to be full of retirees. They use the pool as a a social lounge in the evening. We tired one other time in the morning to swim and there was a water aerobic class going on. We did not go back after that. Further down the patch is a wonderful beach park. You can walk but if you have gear and are planning on spending the day you are better of driving.
The house in general is very well maintained and clean with one exception, The jetted tubs were filthy. My sisters and I are bath takers. After seeing the tubs we know a bath would not be a part of our stay. By day 3 one of my sisters decided she had to soak and she used some spray cleaner and a toothbrush to clean the jets. We all bathed but were unable use the jets because the vision of the dirty jets was etched in out minds.
My only other complaint is the quality of the beds in the 3rd bedroom. This seems to be a children's room and the beds are bad. We ended up having to rotate sleeping in one of the good beds so you could a good nights sleep very 3rd night. The pull out bed in the living room is also not a good option. The coach was actually better than the beds. The beds in the other 2 rooms were very good.
If i were asked, would you go back? I would say yes! The is a good home with great value. It is cozy, clean-mostly, private and we were comfortable and felt very safe.
We just returned from 8 nights at Shells at Poipu. This house is the most well stocked rental home we've ever stayed in. It has everything you need for a temporary home. The kitchen is especially well stocked with cooking necessities. If you have children, this is the place to stay - there is a booster seat, high chair, portable crib, and lots of books and games for the kids as well. There's also a pretty good DVD collection, especially where kids are concerned.
Having central air conditioning was a great amenity and there are ceiling fans in every room as well.
The home is kept very clean, and is bright with an open floor plan. We liked that the master bedroom is on the opposite side of the other bedrooms. Our only do better for the master bath is the lighting over the vanity - it's not especially bright for makeup application, although who wears much makeup in Hawaii? Both bathrooms have large bathtubs that are jetted. While they are very nice, they are a bit of a challenge to bathe a young child in, and someone who is disabled may have a hard time using these bathtub/showers.
Getting to the pool is about a 5-10 minute stroll, as is the beach. Both are via paved walkways. If you are looking to walk out your door and be at the pool or beach this is not the rental for you.
It's a short drive to Poipu Beach and to Old Koloa Town. There is a Starbucks in a small shopping center a few minutes away, and several good restaurants as well. Right now there is construction on the road to Lihue, so expect about 20+ minutes to get to/from Poipu during weekday/daytime hours.
Overall we loved this house and would return!
Delightful house on the beautiful, sunny side of Kauai Island. Easy walk along groomed greenbelt walkway to 3 world class beaches. 2 nearby golf courses less than 5 minute drive from house. Located in Poipu Kai Resort with tennis/pool/hot tub on grounds. Walking distance to restaurants, coffee, lounges, and shopping. Short drive to even more selection. Opportunities for seasonal whale watching, horseback riding, surfing, sailing, fishing, cycling, sightseeing, hiking, kayaking, windsurfing, zip-lining, ATV tours and much more.
