My wife and I are Alabama natives and both grew up vacationing on the gulf coast - from the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay to Panama City Beach Florida. We love being in nature and the perspective it gives to life - the sounds of the breaking waves and coastal birds and the views of the striking white sand and Gulf water.
George purchased this House in 2010
Why George chose Fort Morgan
We chose Enchanted Dunes because of the wonderful house directly overlooking the beach and the uncrowded, natural surroundings yet with plenty of amenities.

Our first Fort Morgan visit
Beautiful home on a fairly quiet stretch of beach. Fit our large group perfectly. We enjoyed the well thought out decks on the beach side of the home. The elevator made unloading and loading oh so much easier! The second refrigerator was a blessing as we were cooking for 16! The owner is very knowledgeable of the area and easy to work with. It was a perfect family vacation!
Thank you Dave and Janice, you were a pleasure to work with as well!
Beautiful, quiet location, everything you need
This home was beautifully decorated, the kitchen is fully stocked and very clean! Plenty of beds and deck chairs. Direct tv and WiFi! Homeowner was easily accessible as well as the rental agency. We had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to return!!!
Wonderful Thanksgiving Week
Our entire family celebrated Thanksgiving and two birthdays over our week long stay at Enchanted Dunes and it was wonderful! The home was perfect in every way. Plenty of room for our family of 8 adults and 6 children.
The elevator was great for getting our luggage up to our bedrooms and for my mother who recently had knee surgery.
The pictures gave us the impression that the living area was small, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't at all. There was plenty of room for all of us to sit and enjoy a movie together at night on the large smart TV with surround sound! There is a book with instructions on how to use the TVs and remotes for each room.
There are several puzzles, board games, books, and decks of cards and we enjoyed sitting at the large dining room table putting the puzzles together and playing cards! The Wi-Fi and DirecTV went out one night during particularly bad winds and we had plenty to keep us entertained!
We cooked several meals and the kitchen had everything we needed and more. Plenty of cookware, dishes, etc. The two dishwashers came in handy! The ice maker was our favorite part of the kitchen. It got LOTS of use and kept up with our large family filling our cups constantly. It never ran out of ice! The second refrigerator was awesome. It is located on the ground floor and held our drinks and several other items with plenty of space left over.
The view was spectacular! We loved sitting on the main floor deck in the mornings with our coffee. Each bedroom has it's own balcony and it was so nice to leave our doors open and listen to the waves crash at night. There is a shower at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the main deck. Great for washing the sand off our feet and cut down immensely on having to sweep sand off the floor.
A nice little bonus was the ground level storage room on the beach side of the house (outside). It was jam packed with beach toys, paddle boards, chairs, etc.
We brought along our mini-dachshund, Sheldon, and he had a great time as well! You absolutely cannot tell that this home has accommodated pets previously.
Overall, the house was spacious, comfortable, clean, and well maintained. We are grateful to the owner for sharing his lovely home and we hope to be back next year!
Our group of 15 (7 adults, 8 kids) stayed October 21-28. It was amazing and the house was as beautiful as it appears in the photos. The beach was wonderful, the area was great, and it was, all-around, a fantastic trip. The owner was incredible to deal with. I can't say enough nice things about this property.
Great except for rain on porches
House was clean. Loved having two dishwashers and the downstairs refrigerator was a huge help. Furnishings dated, but were adequate. Linens were supposed to be premium and they were definitely not. But hey, it's just for a week. There is one reason I would not rent the house again. The porches were great, but since they weren't completely covered (slats like on a deck) we could not sit on the deck when it rained. Most annoying was that all our towels, beach equipment, etc. got SOAKED. This was disappointing because the house worked well for our family and until it rained, considered renting again.
The intention of the covered deck is to provide shade, not protection from rain. The "problem" with rain at the beach is that there is virtually always wind, so the covering above, even if large, doesn't keep the porch from getting wet. The ground level storage room is an option for beach equipment.
We didn't mean to imply unusually high thread count sheets and don't know of a better linen service option in Gulf Sores/Orange Beach. They offer two levels, and we use premium instead of standard. We have replaced most of the living room furnishings within the past two years but will re-evaluate everything this fall and as for now the website photos are current. We are glad of your appreciation of the dishwashers and downstairs refrigerator!
Neglected Rental Home
Our family of 20 recently stayed at Enchanted Dunes for one week and we were very disenchanted!! After the second day we realized that we had made a bad decision by renting this house because of the neglect of the owner and rental management company. This place is in need of repair to meet rental standards. Needless to say, we were very disappointed with the condition of the place and tried to get some of the safety and comfort issues resolved. The rental agency would send repairmen but without explaining to them exactly what extent of work needed to be accomplished. To make a long story short, we stayed in a beachfront home that did not meet AL state safety standards!!
It was indeed unfortunate for all that one of the deck rails was broken the week prior to your stay and not reported. Of course it then became imperative to make the repair, creating its own inconvenience.
The Fort Morgan region of Gulf Shores is a less-developed and uncrowded area. Fort Morgan Rd (Highway 180) extends westward from Highway 59 along a peninsula that separates the Gulf of Mexico to the south from Bon Secour/Mobile Bay to the north. The Bon Secour wilderness preserve is along this route. There are two golf courses off of Ft Morgan Rd: Peninsula and Kiva Dunes.
