We just ended a wonderful vacation with family staying at the Rock House. There was plenty of room for sixteen family members with ages ranging from 18 months to 74 years. Very nice location; not too close to town but not too far away either. The house was very well kept, comfortable and inviting; just like walking into home. Beautifully appointed with a collection of children's artwork and full of surprises. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking several full meals during our stay. The Writer's Retreat was perfect for the young adults to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main house. We loved the access to and from the lake as far as the steps to the dock were concerned. They were not too steep which made the walk back up to the house much more bearable! The kids loved fishing and jumping and swimming off the dock. We explored the lake from boat, and found the Jumping Rock. We also found the Lighthouse Restaurant and Keowee Marina, not to mention several waterfalls in the area, including Lake Jocassee.
Dave and Lucy thought of everything to make our stay pleasant. Dave was excellent at communication and was available by phone or text to answer any questions and discuss any concerns. Only bad thing was we didn't want to leave. Great place to stay and will for sure stay here again if it's available next time we go to Lake Keowee.
Our two oldest kids and my friends son were graduating from USC and Clemson over the weekend. With the volume of family and friends coming into town, it was more financially feasible to rent a house on Lake Keowee. We picked the Rock House as it had the ability to host 17 of us overnight, and it had space to celebrate with us and about 33 more visitors for the Saturday afternoon party. WE HAD A BLAST! The Writer's Retreat was perfect for our college kids and their friends, while the house was fantastic for three couples and our two little kids. Though we did catering from Moe's for the graduation party, we used the kitchen a lot on the other days and it was very well stocked for cooking. Most everyone hung out on the decks or the dock, and we even used the kayaks. A friend brought a boat over so the boat rides on the lake, especially during sunset, were stunning. The indoor accommodations were beautiful (Dave should put some pics up on this site).
I cannot say enough good things about this house and it's property. Dave was wonderful to work with, and quickly responds to emails. I wish I still lived in SC so we could go back more frequently!!! Maybe we'll get a chance to rent during some visits for CU football games - GO TIGERS!
From the responsiveness/helpfulness of Dave to the actual accommodations, our experience with The Rock House was terrific. Plenty of sleeping and eating options, cool house, great location, reasonable price... what more can you ask for?! Thanks, Dave, for everything. We sure hope to return.
We stayed at the rock house for a weekend and would have loved to stay longer. We had 13 adults between the house and the retreat and probably could have had a few more comfortably. The house is well maintained, has great decks for entertaining, and a great sunning/swimming dock. I would definitely come back again or recommend to a friend.
We did enjoy the week. The weather was great. The water was warm. We did do some hiking and saw a water falls near by. Also traveled to Highland. Much fun. Owner was helpful with suggestions as to things to do. The Lighthouse Restaurant was excellent. The neighbors were very nice. Enjoyed.
My group of friends and family have stayed at The Rock House 2 years in a row now and LOVE it! It is clean, spacious, and has the perfect swimming and sunning dock. The owners are very helpful and the location is great. Only 20 minutes from a grocery, but you feel like you are miles away from anywhere. Even with a crowd there is plenty of room to spread out and not be underfoot. Definitely recommend this spot!
The Rock House is located on pristine Lake Keowee in Six Mile SC 12 minutes from downtown Clemson and 7 minutes from Seneca. Swimming boating, jet-skiing, fishing, kayaking, hiking, golf abound. Clemson offers restaurants, Clemson University sporting events and movie theaters.
