The Metropolitan Room, as it is known, is an elegantly furnished studio is up one flight of stairs in a 1881 brownstone townhouse. The four poster queen size bed is extremely comfortable and laden with pillows and a comforter. The south facing windows fitted with folding shutters and venetian blinds look out over West 82nd Street. The kitchen is small but efficient with a brand new LG stainless steel refrigerator. There is a professional quality hot plate that can cook anything. An additional hotplate is available upon request. The charming wallpapered bathroom is has a bathtub and features both a standard shower and a hand held shower.
There is a new flat screen television behind the shutters of the armoire. The big desk has plenty of room to set up a computer and work. The floor is carpeted in a wool berber and there is an arts and crafts wallpaper wainscotting around the room.
We are a married couple who live on the ground floor, one of us is an architect, the other a composer of classical music. We both work from home. We will greet you upon your arrival and are happy to guide you to features of the neighborhood. The building is extremely quiet and secure, as is the tree lined block in the heart of the Upper West Side. You are just steps from the greatest museums, shopping and entertainment in the world.

We are an artist couple, one of us is a composer of classical music the other is a painter and an architect. We have two grown children. We live and work in the brownstone.
Warren Ashworth purchased this apartment in 1987
This is our year round residence. We have two VRBO units in this brownstone, each across the hall from the other. The other unit, The Dutch Room, is listed under VRBO 430146. Families and friends often like to book both. They are both studios and both are the same rental rates.
High ceilings, quiet, beautifully furnished.
Unlike many listings, The Metropolitan Room is fully licensed by the City and State of New York to operate as a hotel for which we collect and pay taxes. Our license numbers are available upon request.
An outstanding property mixing historical New York with contemporary charm! Perfect for couples running away for a few days. Warren provided great neighborhood details to get us going!
We loved the area, the convenience and the luxuries it provided. We were in New York for a 3 day stay and couldn't have been happier. Hope we can return!
This studio was a perfect fit for us. We love the Upper West side, and all the really good restaurants, museums and parks within walking distance, and easy access to subways and bus routes.
The studio is small, but very comfortable with old NY charm, and everything you need. The bed and club chairs were very comfortable, and there is lots of hot water and good water pressure.
Warren is very prompt with correspondence, and we appreciated that Warren and Susan both made us feel comfortable about knocking on their door if we needed anything, though we didn't have to. We also appreciate that they have a NYC hotel license, so these are legal suites.
Thank you, Warren and Susan! We hope your appartment is available the next time we come to the Apple! We have already forwarded your info to a few friends.
This was my first time in New York and Warren and his wife were very helpful, They even let us leave our luggage there the final day so we could see more of the city. The room is close to Central Park and we also walked to Time Square which was amazing. I would stay in his place again.
Had a great stay on 82nd St. Was met by owner who walked us through all of the essentials. She even provided some basic kitchen staples which was both a surprise and very generous. Studio was clean and contained everything we needed. Area highlights including transportation and restaurants were provided. Close to Natural History Musuem, Central Park and subways. Had a wonderful and uneventful stay and hope to return in the future.
This suite was exactly as advertised! The suite had lots of charm, was clean and well looked after. Air conditioning worked like a charm for the hot New York summer weather. Great location near Zabars, Starbucks, and dozens of fine restaurants and bars. Also close to subway line, museums, Central Park, etc. One of the best parts of staying in the UWS was being away from the throngs of people and noises on the streets one normally experiences when staying in Mid Manhattan hotels! Thank you Warren, Susan and Cynthia for making our stay in New York a very memorable one!
The Upper West Side is New York City' arts center. We are 15 minute walk to Lincoln Center and 20 to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Museum of Natural History is right around the corner.
