Hartwick Lodge Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-10)

Covert's Moose Lodge, which was built in 2002, was created with families and hunters in mind. We have only used the lodge for visiting guests and never lived in as a regular home. It is located on the end of a quiet road in a tranquil valley consisting of open meadows, hills, and a large ponds.

Relax in front of the gas fireplace or sit out on the deck or relax in the hot tub and enjoy the view of the hills, ponds, and wildlife.

The floor plan is open and roomy. The large floor to ceiling windows offer lots of natural light. Hardwood floors in the main living areas. Wall-to-wall carpet in all sleeping areas. Walls are natural pine.

Located in the Hartwick area of Otsego County, it is only 9 miles from the Village of Cooperstown and 18 miles from the City of Oneonta. We are just 7 miles from the Cooperstown Dreams Park and 16 miles from the Cooperstown All Star Village.

Over 5,000 acres of State lands are available for hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, snow mobiling, and hiking just minutes from Covert's Moose Lodge. Otsego Lake, Canadarago Lake, Goodyear Lake, and Susquehanna River are all nearby.

We have satellite TV, wi-fi internet, local and long distance phone, central air conditioning, washer and dryer for your use.

About Mike & Terry Covert

Welcome to The Covert's Moose Lodge. Mike and Terry Covert are the proud owners of this fine establishment. The land had been in the Covert family name since 1960. The original structure located where Covert's Moose Lodge now stands was originally a hunting cabin, built in the 40's in New Jersey, dismantled and reassembled here in the 70's. It was torn down to make way for the new lodge in 2001.

The Covert's Moose Lodge was completed in June 2002. It is two stories tall and has 22 foot ceilings in the living room, with an antlered chandelier, gas fireplace and of course, a large Montana Moose Head (taken in 1953).

Mike & Terry Covert purchased this lodge in 2002

Why Mike & Terry Covert chose New York

Mike is an avid bird hunter and has traveled throughout the United States and Canada, hunting and staying in various places as he went. The lodge was a concept that he and Terry designed by taking all of their good experiences and combining them into one ideal place to stay.

Mike and Terry know that when you come here, you'll enjoy the peace and quiet and feel very relaxed when you leave. Thank you for considering Covert's Moose Lodge. We look forward to meeting you!

What makes this lodge unique

The lodge was designed by Mike Covert. It is a natural wood design with over 13,000 ft of tongue and grooved pine on its walls and hosts all of the modern amenities. It has a side covered porch with gas grill and hot tub on the front deck. The deck has tables with chairs for setting and relaxing. The front deck overlooks a meadow, hills and large ponds.

Excellent lodge away from all the hustle and bustle of Cooperstown

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for our family! We were visiting Cooperstown for my son's baseball tournament at Dreams Park. The lodge was only about 15 minutes from the fields. The lodge had plenty of space and was very clean. My husband and son really enjoyed fishing in the pond on the property. They caught lots of fish!

I would highighly recommend this property!

Thanks again for sharing your home with us!

The lodge was the perfect retreat for our visit to Cooperstown!! Terry was fantastic to work with and kept in touch with us during our stay. The lodge itself was absolutely wonderful. The serene setting was so peaceful. We couldn't have selected a better home for our stay while our son played in the Cooperstown tournament. I highly recommend the lodge! Just a side note, our cellular service with Verizon would not work at the lodge.

Owner's Response: Cell phones sometimes work from Verizon but there is a land line phone to use for local and long distance calls.

Great location for either All-Star Village or Dreams Parks

  • 5 of 5

Our family was in the area for the baseball tournament at All-Star Village. The property is about 25 minutes from the park and 15 minutes from Cooperstown. The lodge met all of our needs, for our family including grandparents. There was plenty of space and all of the modern amenities you'd want. The lodge is clean, well-appointed and exactly as it appears in the pictures. Great environment with the pond, walking/running paths, plenty of wildlife including birding. As noted by others, cell service and internet can be spotty but that happens in rural areas. Would definitely recommend the lodge for others.

A decent place for a large party

  • 4 of 5

6/8/16-6/15/16 Overall, we had a good experience. The rooms were clean and there was plenty of room for the nine of us. My daughter who is a basketball player was excited to hear that they had a basketball hoop but when we arrived the pole and hoop was slanted off of a hill almost at a 60 degree angle so she couldn't use it, probably shouldn't list it as a feature if it isn't functional. Having two full bathrooms was beneficial. The first night we had a visitor (mouse) in the house which we caught the following night. It got into some of our food as a result. It appears that it is just something they have to deal with having the lodge located in a wooded area. Air conditioning and hot tub worked well. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again as long as they take care of the mouse issue.

Like a lot of other people, we went to Cooperstown for 12U baseball. We loved our stay at the Moose Lodge. IT WAS CLEAN and several of the other families from our team could not say that about their lake house rentals. The pictures are EXACTLY what the house looks like. Terry is easy to deal with. For example, we had trouble with the coffee maker on our 3rd day. One call to Terry and she was there to fix it that afternoon.

We use AT&T, and our cell service was spotty at the house. However, there is Wifi and a house phone. I was able to use the internet to get some work done while I was there and we gave our son the land line to use if he could not get us on our cell phones.

We wanted to be somewhat secluded for the week, but we needed to be a reasonable distance to Dreams Park. The Moose Lodge was perfect. It is a 10 - 15 minute ride to Dreams Park, and it is a beautiful ride.

We played whiffle ball in the big yard, we fished in the pond, we made smores by the fire at night. We saw deer, turkey and a fox. I recommend Mike and Terry's Moose Lodge, we would absolutely stay there again.

Beautiful, yet again!

  • 4 of 5

This was our second time at the lodge. The location is beautiful, as is the home. This time we were in town to attend a concert at Ommegang which was only a short way away. Definitely plan to return again and again.

The one tip I'd give is that if you plan on cooking make sure you bring everything... seasoning, condiments, oil, etc. I normally pack some of this stuff, but am also used to most rentals having a few of these items so I shot myself in the foot.
