Barton Hills House Rental Photos and Description

Retreat-type rental right in the midst of Barton Hills. Private Hot tub included

Welcome to The Austinite!

This is a lovely 2/1 that is quintessentially Austin. Tucked away in Barton HIlls, one of Austin’s favorite neighborhoods, this property features an enclosed bamboo garden with an outdoor shower and hot tub. It honestly doesn’t get much cooler.

Then up the stairs to the front deck, which has the feel of a treehouse because you’re at the tops of the 30-foot high bamboo and just beneath the canopy of surrounding trees. There’s two bedrooms, one queen bed and one king.

The kitchen is fully furnished with everything you could want to cook a feast. Basic spices, oil, and all the pots and pans you’d need. There is also a grill on the front deck.

Towels and linens are of course included, with extras available as well. In the bathroom, you’ll find Dove shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Bring some flip flops so you can enjoy the outdoor’s a great way to start the day!

$160/weeknight, $210 weekend night - $1000/weekly

About Jay Reynolds

I'm a life-long Austinite and that is definitely part of the reason I choose to call this property The Austinite!

Jay Reynolds purchased this house in 2013

Why Jay Reynolds chose Austin

This property encompasses so much of what makes Austin awesome. You can walk and bike to dozens of restaurants, Zilker Park and The Barton Creek Greenbelt!

What makes this house unique

The hot tub area is incredible and being so close to S. Lamar is a major plus. Also, we have two other rental units that actually share a driveway so if you have a larger group we can definitely accommodate!

Loved it

  • 5 of 5

It took us moments to fall in love with this place. Perfect size for four adults and there were so many extras in the property. Very close to downtown and plenty of eateries around. The hot tub was clean and hot and easy to operate. My husband and I had the king bed and it was very comfortable. Will definitely request this property again!

Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

The Austinite was a perfect rental for our recent stay in Austin. The location is perfect- you are walking distance to the Barton Creek Greenbelt, and a short drive to South Congress and Zilker Park. The unit was very nice and clean. Jay is very helpful and sent several ideas of places to go and eat in the area. I would definitely stay here again!

Great Find in South Austin

  • 4 of 5

We often use sites like VRBO to find vacation housing. It's often of higher quality and lower prices than booking hotels. We booked the Austinite B for a recent four day stay. First of all the contacts for the property are the best I've dealt with in terms of keeping us informed. We had almost daily emails starting about a week prior to our stay and throughout our visit. They kept us up to date on the amenities the property provided and on places to eat/play nearby.

The property was very nice. It's an older unit than has considerable updates. There is plenty of space for up to two couples. There is a full kitchen and washer/dryer so you could easily stay for an extended period. We really liked the deck area and spent a lot of time enjoying the warm weather. We had planned to use the hot tub, but never got around to it. It's in an ideal location that affords plenty of privacy, but it really needs a new cover. Just the appearance of the cover gives you pause about using it. That's really the only reason I went with four stars on the property.

The property is within walking distance to South Lamar so there are dining options nearby. The neighborhood is pretty quiet and safe. We have already decided to stay here during our next visit to Austin.

Very friendly

  • 5 of 5

Jay really goes above and beyond to make sure his guests get the most out of their Austin stay. He gave us tons of information that was helpful in planning our trip, and our contact Sarah was very proactive in making sure we had everything we needed. The place itself feels neither high end nor trashy, it's just right: clean, airy, just right. I really appreciated how well-stocked the tiny kitchen was, both with pantry staples and kitchen equipment. (I was especially happy to find an aeropress, my preferred coffee maker--along with a standard percolator and a french press. And a grinder!) The only thing I would change is, better lighting in the living room! It was so dim after dark that I couldn't work on the puzzle we brought. Only my kids' eyes were good enough.

Thanks again Austinite!

You couldn't ask for a better place to stay! Jay and his peeps were great with communication before, during, and after. The place is in a perfect location and a true pleasure to return to after a long day. We will be back again!

More good food than you can ever eat in one trip!
Car: recommended

The Austinite Unit B is located in the heart of Barton Hills, just three miles to downtown and just a few blocks from so many amazing restaurants and fun things to do off South Lamar!

First and foremost the Barton Creek Greenbelt: there is a neighborhood entrance just two blocks away! You can hike the day away and never know you're in the middle of a city. It's truly amazing down there.

For food and drink: Kerbey Lane Cafe, Torchy's Taco's, Amy's Ice Cream, East Side King, Gordough's Public House, Bakers Street Pub, Thundercloud Subs, Papalote Taco House, and SO many more than are literally just a hop skip and a jump away.

Just two blocks to Art on 5th - which is an art gallery that features the largest collection of original Dr Suess paintings and drawing in the world.

If you're not driving in and not wanting to rent a car, the CapMetro bus lines are fabulous for getting in and around downtown, and there are bus stops less than two blocks away to scoot up Lamar.

There is a great farmers market on Saturday just a 10 minute walk!

If golf is your thing: I used to play professionally (toured 2005-2010 full time) and I still have connections at several great courses. So let me know for sure if you're bringing your clubs and maybe I'll even try to come fill the foursome if I can!

This is a fabulous neighborhood with tons of character and the location is a perfect doorstep to everything that makes Austin what it is.
