Our 5 STAR renter reviews say it all! This spectacular 5000 sq ft, 6 BR, 5 1/2 bath, home is located at the top of the prestigious Hound Ears Country Club gated community. The amazing long range views go all the way to Tennessee and West Virginia, and change with the weather and the seasons. Designed by a prominent architect in the Frank Lloyd Wright vernacular, it is a unique home like no other in North Carolina.
The house can sleep 14 and features 6 Bedrooms. The Master and the 'Zen' bedroom each have King sized beds. The 'kid's' room has two twin beds and the other 3 bedrooms have Queen sized Beds. There are also 2 Queen size pull out couches, one in the living room and one in the downstairs

The house was completely renovated in 2011. It included new furniture, new wood floors, and new flat screen HD TV's with dvd players in the LR, Playroom and all bedrooms. The kitchen utensils and accessories are all new. There are dishes and silverware for 14 guests. The linens and towels are top of the line. Everything has been done at an 'Owner' quality level, not as a rental.
As you can see by our rave 5 star reviews, for the last 5 years, everyone who has stayed here has had a great time and given us a 5 star rating. We hope you'll come too.
Share your stay with friends or family, with 6 bedrooms there's plenty of room and you'll have a million dollar house for the price of a Motel 8!
The North Carolina mountains are prone to snow and icy conditions during the winter months. The house is at an elevation of 3400 feet. A 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE AND/OR CHAINS ARE REQUIRED DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. THE HOUND EAR'S ROADS AND THE DRIVEWAY ARE TOO STEEP AND SLIPPERY FOR 2 WHEEL DRIVE DURING HEAVY SNOW AND ICE STORMS.

We bought this home even though we were not really ready to buy. It was that spectacular! We're from Miami and getting away from the heat and humidity is in the summer is a must. I've been vacationing in the area all my life and wanted to get something that we could spend a lot of time in someday. This house is it. We refurbished/redecorated the entire house. This was done with top of the line furniture and accessories for our use, not cheaply done as a rental property.I know you'll enjoy this house as much as we do.
The Owner purchased this house in 2010
This location has the best of all worlds. It's in the beautiful, secure, gated Hound Ears County Club. It is 5 miles from the charm of Blowing Rock and 5 miles to Boone, a great little college town with all the services you need for comfortable living. Only a 2 hour drive on 4 lane highways from the Charlotte, NC. international airport, it's easy to get to from anywhere in the country. It's just minutes away from two of North Carolina's best ski resorts, Sugar Mountain, and Beech Mountain, as well as Appalachian Mountain.
For the kids, there's snow skiing, zip lining, snow and river tubing whitewater rafting and the famous Tweetsie Railroad amusement park. There are a number of great public golf courses in the area that have received great reviews from our golfing guests. The famous "Creeper" bicycle trail is less than an hour away, a great downhill ride for the entire family
You get all the privacy and security of being in an exclusive low density, heavily wooded, gated community and the seclusion to enjoy the spectacular weather and scenery. Yet, it's close to Blowing Rock, Boone, and Banner Elk with their great shopping, dining, and sports. The area has every sport and activity you'll ever want, including great golf, 4 ski resorts, snow and river tubing, and recently added, zip lining. The kids will love the nearby famous Tweetsie Railroad Amusement Park, the park with swimming pool in downtown Blowing Rock and the Jonas resort tubing park and horse back riding. The house has become a favorite for guests looking for a special home for all types of events from weddings to birthdays to ASU homecoming games.
This property was perfect for 4 couples and 4 tween children during Fall Break. The views are perfect. The house has an interesting layout which added to the enjoyment of the vacation. Much of the house has been updated, and the master suite was especially comfortable. The kitchen, while well-equipped, could use some updates and is laid out in such a way as not to accommodate several people who want to prep/cook at the same time. Given how many excellent restaurants are in the area, the kitchen ended up not being much of an issue for us. I highly recommend this property. The mountain views are simply spectacular.
Twelve of our family (including three children ages 10-16) met here in July for a reunion, and this beautiful, quiet spot was an excellent choice for us. The rooms were situated in a way that gave privacy to each family group. We made good use of the well-equipped kitchen and dining rooms; they suited us very well. The owners obviously respect their home and take pride in it. Communication with the owner was prompt and clear. We visited the Grandfather Scottish Games and hiked on the trails off the Blue Ridge Parkway, and we recommend this home highly for families who don't care about the built-in amenities of a resort.
We rented this property as one of two houses during a family reunion. I must say, we were absolutely blown away! The house and surrounding view is absolutely gorgeous. The house itself is massive and unique, and the view is the best I've seen anywhere I've stayed. It was very well furnished, nice and quiet and suited our needs perfectly. We would definitely love to return!!
We stayed for 3 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday. We had an idea it would be good from the reviews, photos and description, but had no idea how much better it could be. This ended up being far better than our stays in the Gatlinburg area. The gated resort community is upscale, safe (manned security gates), navigatible, and friendly.
Our family of 4 stayed with another family of 5 and our parents. The home is SO BIG that it easily could have accomodated more than our party of 11. The open floor plan faces a large bank of windows across the entire living and eating areas, all bedrooms, and all hallways even. The home was obviously designed to make the most of the amazing views. The home has better views than any other in the entire resort. It is situated at the very top of the mountain, so you pass by all the other homes on the way up. Once you arrive, there is ample parking for 3 large vehicles (one with a carport), and the driveway is not steep at all, almost street level.
We really enjoy hiking as a family, so we spent much of the mornings hiking many fun trails close to the rental. We highly recommend the Profile trail (right off hwy 105). It is close by, challenging, and very scenic. The afternoons were spent watching football, cooking, and some went to Boone for shopping (only 10 minutes away). We all ate together each night with ample seating for 12. Playing board games and watching TV in the huge living area in front of the gas fireplace (we love the on/off switch, ambiance, and instant heat) made it a fun family times for everyone.
The owner and housekeeping staff were outstanding. They tried (and succeeded) to make sure we knew everything before our stay to make it easy, during our stay, and afterwards. I forgot my prescription glasses and the housekeeper had mailed them back to our home before I even had a chance to get in touch with her.
Do yourself a favor and save some time researching if you are looking for an upscale cabin for a large party with amazing views of the moutain range. This is it!
Amazing location with spectacular views from everywhere! Seemed as though we were in a tree house just breathtaking! Plenty of room for large parties.
We loved everything about this property! So much to do around this area. We wished we had stayed longer.
At 3700 feet above sea level, you look out onto a series of ridgelines ranging for miles and miles. Early in the morning you can often see what appears to be a huge lake, hundreds of feet below you in the distance, set within the mountain peaks, but it's actually a sea of clouds that will vanish soon after dawn. Dusk here is enchanting too, with the reddish-yellow sun dropping slowly out of sight beyond the mountains, giving way to countless stars that illuminate the night sky. It's quite cool here in the High Country of North Carolina in the summer time. And atop Hounds Ear, which sits a thousand feet above Boone, it's especially cool...cool and comfortable. The cool weather, besides keeping the mosquitoes away, will very likely have you put on a long-sleeve shirt or a sweater when you're on the porch dining, for breakfast or dinner.
There is so many more laudatory things I could say about this mountain getaway and its woodsy setting, but the view and the weather, in and of themselves, are more than enough to make me want to return again and again, especially with same group of fun guys!
Zip lining, the newest craze is available within 15 minutes of the home. We're close to both major ski mountains, Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain,a and to family friendly Appalaction ski mountain . Snow Tubing Parks are available nearby. Also , the world famous 'Tweetsie Railroad' amusement park is only 15 minutes away! Your kids will LOVE it.
