Please note that Kathryn Rose maintains a smoke-free and pet-free environment. Also, because Beachwalk is family-focused (Nightly 10 p.m. Noise Curfew), we do not rent to prom groups.
Our goal is to make every guest a repeat guest, and we work year round to maintain our home and its furnishings. Our cleaning crew, repairman and yard crew are thorough and keep us informed re: repairs, replacements needed.
Jon or Carol purchased this house in 2005
Kathryn Rose is ideally located in the center of the Beachwalk community, only one block from the community pool and away from the busy and noisy main Beachwalk lane thorough fare.
Parking is at a real premium in Beachwalk, but not at Kathryn Rose which boasts parking for 8 Cars.
Just stayed there last week of July 2014. I was nervous taking 24 people to one house and coach house but the combination of the two accommodated our family reunion perfectly. Everyone had a comfortable place to sleep and all of the rooms were fairly equal in size and surprisingly private with the way the second floor is laid out. Bathrooms were large enough that sharing one with two couples didn't feel cramped. Enough plates/cups/silverware/cooking utensils for everyone and all good quality. Two double toasters, two coffee makers in main house. But the best part about this property, in my opinion, is the huge grassy park right out front. We played soccer in the park, bags, ladder toss, and enjoyed apps and wine on the picnic table there. You can also sit on the house's screen porch and comfortably watch the little kids in the park. There are only a few properties next to the park so it felt like our huge private yard. We had kids ages 3-15. The beach is of course amazing, and it's a few minutes to walk there but little kids were fine. We'll book the house again the next time the reunion is in the Midwest.
Every year all the Sisters, Aunts, Nieces and Cousins (ages 11 and older) get together for a time of relaxation and bonding. We have been doing this for the last 17 years and we finally found a house that fits all of our needs. We started out with 14 of us and grew to 20 women and in the past, some of us had to sleep on couches or an air mattress. In this house we all had comfortable beds. There was enough seating so we could all eat at the same time, in the same room. The kitchen is well stocked. The porch was great for breakfast and puzzles. Lake Michigan was only a 5-10 minute walk. This house had everything we could have hoped for. The owners were very nice and answered all of my questions promptly. We already have planned to come back next year! Thanks for a great weekend!
You made our first home renting experience easy! The house was great for our 20somethings winter retreat! After years of sleeping in bunkbeds at retreat centers, the group was excited to be in a real house! The kitchen allowed for enough room for all our budding chefs to cook and also sit for our discussions. The bedrooms were warm and snuggly, and the living room had more than enough room for us to play our favorite games. Thanks so much for a great experience from beginning inquiries to the end of our too-short stay!
My family and I (all 24 of us!) have been renting Kathryn Rose and Rosebud for the past 5 years and will be returning again in July 2012. We choose Beachwalk due to it's location and have looked at many different rentals within the community. Kathryn Rose and Rose Bud are, by far, the best homes to accomodate a large group. With 5 bedrooms, as well as the 3rd floor, it can easily fit our whole family. Many of the other homes we've toured did not offer nearly the number of bedrooms and, instead, included common area sleeper sofas as "beds". We've so enjoyed the large wrap around porch every year as well. It is always clean when we arrive and the owners handle answer any questions very quickly. We love it!
Kathryn Rose was a great place to stay. All nine of us enjoyed the spacious living area especially the large porch. We enjoyed the large kitchen area for preparing meals, playing cards and just hanging out. Every room was very clean and well maintained. Very roomy bedrooms and baths. The top floor with the six twin beds was like a suite. Very private, large and bright. We enjoyed the short walk to the pool, fishing dock and small beach. We did it all and some. The owners were very helpful and a pleasure to communicate with. The area is very convenient to restaurants such as 12 on the lake the pierside grill. Sat outside and enjoyed the view of the water and light house. Good food! Also Redamaks restaurant very casual and large menu. We drove to Saugatuck, Michigan and rode the Dune Schooner Rides. This was a lot of fun for all ages. Went into Saugatuck had a good lunch, shopping etc. Also went wine tasting at Lemon Creek Fruit Farm and Winery, St.Julian Winery etc. Had fun at Blue Chip Casino and Outlet Center. We got our groceries at Al's. Not far away from house. This community was so nice to stay in and we definitely will come back.
My family and I loved the Kathryn Rose. We enjoyed sitting out on the screened in wrap around porch. We played games at the park across the street. There is plenty of room, clean, and is decorated beautifully. The large kitchen is equipped with everything you need to make meals. We'd grill out everyday. The pool is close and the beach is a 5 min walk away. Lots to do. We'd come back again.
